Dan Goodchild
I expect they've had a chat with their Chinese partner about quality control; especially around missing parts. Sculpt X didn't turn out so well in Bonesium - that's one thing but Kaladrax has 3 left feet or C'thulhu has no head is something else entirely and is highly avoidable. But won't the new machines in Texas allay that problem? One machine in Texas and it's not nearly enough to fulfill a kickstarter of the scope that Reaper did (and is likely planning for the next one). I know there's room for more machines to keep Thomas company; perhaps that's on the to-do list for KS2:BBB.
kaosweaver
I like the fact that the extra Vampire level I got is now set at $324.99 on the Reaper Site. Imagine getting a huge order - only to sell it on eBay 0.o I wonder if anyone actually did that. Or how large the largest FLGS order was ! Yeah, eBay isn't sellin that great and I did that :) The largest FLGS order, from trying to beat it with my order :) was over 200 lines. (I just cleared over 110 lines myself)

I read one guy on the SO forums ordered 40 vamps (iirc), mostly to resell later. So yeah, there were some massive orders.
Dai-Mongar
I think the best thing about Super Kickstarter 2 Turbo is that they can spell out to people what caused delays last time and make it abundantly clear that those things could cause delays again (like the shipments from China and QC issues). Then people can manage their expectations (or not, as the case may be).

Girot
Mummy level made vampire look like the better bargain it came to be - but at $100 Vampire started out with a lot less. So at minimum funding level you were only getting slightly more than Mummy. Later you could increase by 40 and switch. Totally served its purpose. ETA - I looked it up, and at start $100 Vampire got you exactly $100 of the miniature pledges at that time. Adding Sophie (25) and Dungeon Attack (15) to Mummy (60) Plus a free forum badge.. Well, I did encounter the kickstarter after the mummy level stopped being relevant, so that could explain my feeling. In the second kickstarter, a mummy level would stop being relevant after at most 2 hours. My main issue is that the original 30 add on was insanely expensive compared to everything else, while I would definately have considered it for a lower price. Depending on how deep you went in it averaged out at less than $1 per mini, counting each model as an individual unit and dividing one's pledge by the number of units (excluding Sophie, shirts, etc and their respective costs). I did a spreadsheet. It was glorious.

I didn't realize conspiracy nuts were so into minis.

I should totally check ebay more often, with not backing the KS and all :)
Moderator Darsc Zacal Posted September 4, 2013 Moderator Share Posted September 4, 2013 One thing that quickly became obvious to me at PAX was that there are A LOT of people out there who aren't yet part of the miniatures hobby with no knowledge of Reaper who are being drawn in by the Bones product. A lot of new folk were walking away from the Paint and Take with new minis purchased from the store. Many many many of these people had not even heard of the first kickstarter. Considering that, and all the hobbyists who missed out on the first kickstarter, I expect there will be a high number of brand new folks on the next Bones kickstarter who'll need to be informed about managing their expectations.

buglips*the*goblin
Bones are affordable and accessible. Fewer people seem intimidated by them.
Dai-Mongar
Super Kickstarter 2 Turbo That's the best name I've heard yet! Thanks. I'm trying to come up with a new one every time I mention it, in the hopes that one of them will stick.
