Members SamuraiJack
I'm guessing there won't be as many small one of piece choices.. if I had to guess, I would think that everything this time will be pre-boxed so you get sets 1, 2 and 3 they just grab 3 boxes, toss them in a big box and ship. Far less complicated than having 50 different add ons allowing for multiple combinations..
pcktlnt
And if they avoid putting each item in individual bags, that would speed up the process as well. I'm excited, need to find a second job or at least hit up Vegas and hope for the best. >:D
Dai-Mongar
They seem pretty committed to bringing out CAV Bones, but considering the number of people who complained about having Chronoscope minis in their otherwise fantasy Vampire pledge last time, I wonder if they will be separate pledge levels.
Teskal
But if it starts so soon, won't they be in full-on planning stage around about now? i.e. while their last one hasn't finished. (Is what I'm getting at.) Not necessary, the Fall has 3 months, more than enough time to plan and start the Kickstarter. Only problem I see is the free metal release pledges. If reaper do not release much metal miniatures during and after KS, it would be not good for these backers.
ObsidianCrane
Keep in mind they had $4 mil planned for the last one, its largely planned already.... What they need is to crunch the numbers for Vampire II and get the logistics end sorted. Personally I'd be happy with Vampire II as long as its got things like the lost Frost Giants and a selection of Crusader Cavalry regardless of what else is in it. (But I guess both of those are more addon land.) I also hope they have more "for Reaper" stretch goals like "the next $50k gets us another injection molder" after all they probably need half-dozen of them.
Slendertroll
Well, keep in mind that they were all "for Reaper" goals, since the individual minis cost them a trivial amount. Every mini produced paid for a mold that they can use for years. Spinning that mold once per backer cost them hardly anything in comparison. Having a few hundred $10,000 molds already paid for is a big deal.
ObsidianCrane
Except because the molds say "made in china" they need to be redone to say "made in the usa". I have no issues with a "for Reaper" stretch which really is just for them, not a stretch minus a bunch of costs, but something that just adds stuff straight-up for them.
Teskal
I hope they will make PDF-Versions of the Warlord Rulebooks and make them part of the Kickstarter Project. If they did it in the last project, we would have already 17000 potential Warlord players. Translations into German, French, Spain would be nice, too. It would be perfect to make the Halfings a full sized Warband. Edited August 18, 2013 by Teskal
Slendertroll
Hmm, good point; hadn't thought of that. I wonder how much those alterations cost, in comparison to the rest of the mold? Anyway, I'm sure they thought of that ahead of time. I think it is unlikely that we're going to see any stretch goals that don't actually give the backers anything. Reaper is notoriously secretive about their finances and so forth, and the economics behind their KS, while well-thought-out, are unlikely to become public knowledge in that way. They will probably have those internally planned out ("If we hit $X, we'll have enough extra to afford a second injection machine. At $Y, we can get a third, and at $Z we can get another addition to our facilities") and I think they'll have enough cushion built in to enable those, but I would be very surprised if they made them a public part of the campaign. Remember, they just get a check (metaphorically speaking) for however many millions of dollars they earned (minus taxes and KS's share and so forth) at the end of the month. Their focus is, in the most basic sense, on making that number as high as possible. A "new injection machine!" goal would probably hurt more than it helped, since no one is going to pledge, or add to their pledge, to make that happen, whereas a new mini will get people to increase their pledges accordingly. It would make much more sense to have the cost of Thomas II (Percy?) spread out over a number of stretch goals (thus making each one a little bit further out) which reward the backers themselves, rather than making it its own goal, which would risk stagnating donations.
Teskal
I don't think the molds reaper got from china will have the 'made in china' message. I think this message is easily to change. A modern machine should make it possible to change the text anytime.
buglips*the*goblin
Changing that info for injection molds is common. Some model kit "new releases" for a company may in fact be 40-50 year old tooling that's seen action under a dozen names. Italeri's 1/35 T-55 was Revell, Revell-Mongram, AMT, ESCI, and I think even Zvezda got in there somewhere. I've accidentally bought that same kit so many times that I'm suspicious of any "new" release until I see the sprue layout.
MonkeySloth
Also don't forget that even if they buy 5 more machines stuff will still be made in china. Bryan has stated many times that the demand far outpaces what they'll ever be able to produce with their staff.
Caffiene
Also don't forget that even if they buy 5 more machines stuff will still be made in china. They will, however, receive a free set of steak knives. Edited August 18, 2013 by Caffiene
Girot
I'd love to see blue and purple transparent bones this time around. Cavalry and other large warlord models would be outstanding. More dragons. Why not take a crack at a kickass bit of scenery? Like a summoning pit, gladiator arena, etc... Kaladrax's base was proof that would totally be a possibility.
CashWiley
Only problem I see is the free metal release pledges. If reaper do not release much metal miniatures during and after KS, it would be not good for these backers. They offered those pledgers an extension or a buy-out. I know some people took the extension and I honestly believe Reaper will try to do right by them. It just might take a while, the initial estimate was to the end of this year. But I saw the writing on the wall and took the buy-out. Reaper's focus is going to be Bones for a while and this announcement just affirmed my decision. I blame Buglips. That said, I've already got a couple dozen of my favorite back catalog metal minis and enough credit to cover a full schedule of classes at RCon 2014...so I'm happy with how things turned out.
