So, I recently plowed my way through the first 5 books in the graphic novel series "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" the other day, then my wife found 5 manga books (one from the creator of Azumanga Daioh, which I can't recall the name to, and 1-4 of Ultra Maniac) at the local discount store. I went through those last night.

Additionally, I've been re-reading the Redwall series (by Brian Jacques).

So, what are you guys reading at the moment?

Just reread the Scott Pilgrim graphic novels.

Was reading Bernard Cormwell's Sharpe novels and Patrick O'Bryan's Aubrey & Maturin novels, but I seem to have fallen away from them lately.

Don't actually have anything on the burner right now, which is unusual. On the plus side, I've been writing again.

I've been reading the Numenera Core Rulebook. I've been kind of wanting to re-read the Hitch-hikers Guide to the Galaxy though... or The Silmarillion...or start a new series. Probably I'll just play video games and go to sleep though. As I get older it gets harder to read w/out falling asleep anyway!

I'm re-reading some of the Pathfinder AP arcs, for inspiration in some stuff I'm writing up. I've also started reading the first arcs of "Books of Magic" based on Gaiman's character Timothy Hunter. I'm going back through some of the older John Sandford Prey novels, in addition I just restarted the Dresden files series, since it's been a few years for most of them. I usually read 3 or 4 books a week, so I end up re-reading things that I haven't read in a while when I run out of new books. I'm Patiently waiting on Scott Lynch's "Republic of Thieves" in October. I am also working my way through the Pratchett books focused on Death. I just started "Soul Music."

I'm definitely on the re-reader list. I'll read a book dozens of times before I lose interest (and usually pick it up again a few years later).

@Loim, I love the Pratchett books. I've read them all. Seriously, all of them. And I have the audiobooks. And a few radio plays. And the two specials (Colour of Magic/The Light Fantastic and Making Money), and the two cartoon series (Wyrd Sisters and Soul Music). I wish the miniatures were better sculpts, though. I have none, and don't plan on getting any (from the current manufacturer, anyway). I do love my brother-in-law's adaptation of the Bones Mockingbeast to The Luggage. I haven't watched or read any Dresden, despite gobs of people telling me to. One day....

@The Inner Geek: I feel you on the falling asleep bit! I always recommend re-reading the Hitchhiker's Guide series. That's one I go back to on a yearly basis (and I listen to the BBC Radio Plays when painting, or playing video games, or even just sleeping!). If you haven't tried any of Douglas Adams' other stuff, I highly recommend the Dirk Gently books (Long Dark Teatime of the Soul and Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency).

@Last Knight: Congrats on writing again! I keep meaning to start writing (all these ideas keep running through me brain!), but never get around to it. I keep trying to convince my wife to write trashy romance novels to make a few bucks; people are always buying those. Best of luck on your story!

I'm not normally much of a reader, went decades without reading anything other than magazine articles. This year I have read the first 4 books in Brad Thor's Series, 1984, a couple of ERB novels, Robert Heinlein's Job: A Comedy of Justice, the Omnibus Solomon Kane, and now I'm working on William Shakespeare's Star Wars.

Just finished Under a Graveyard Sky by John Ringo. Good zombie apocolypse book. The sequel comes out in Feb '14. I have Sinspawn by S.M. Stirling on deck. It's some kind of urban fantasy. Looks good and I love everything else I've read by him (especially the Novels of the Change). I've got a stack of books I picked up at used books store/Conneticon but the titles are escaping me for now. I have more books than time to read. I should re-read some of my Pathfinder stuff so I can get my PbP game going in the Playing off the ground one of these days.

edited due to my keyboard hating me.

I was trying to keep a current reading widget going on my blog, but I need to learn how to feed it pics from amazon or something. Kind of a hassle to switch it out.

Right now I'm in the middle of Zahn's original Cobra Trilogy. Light sci fi action.

A break in the middle of Bank's Culture stuff.

The running joke on the other forum I'm active on is to post the Black Company series (Glen Cook) on pretty much every page.

It may have lost a bit of its awesomeness after all these years, I read them as they came out and it was pretty awesome (along with Moorcock's Elric...for the time it was amazing). Now there's a lot more grimdark in fiction, but they were awesome books for the time.

I think I've mentioned this before, but I was never able to get into the Black Company books. For whatever reason, they just didn't grab me.

On the other hand, I lervelervelerve his Garrett, P.I. stuff.
