I will say that I’ve definitely cut back on my spending because of this though. Like you, I’ve switched to digital mainly. In the past year I’ve only bought RPG PDFs. Ptolus 5E was my last physical book.

I was very particular in what I got from the Bones 5 Kickstarter and I’ve skipped several other Kickstarter’s that I would have auto-backed 2 years ago.

Just waiting for that to all go out the window when I finally buy a 3D printer! 😂

Well, I bought one...

So these days I'm very selective in what files I buy hoarding files like a madman.

I subscribe to 2 STL Patreons and have backed multiple STL Kickstarter, despite not owning a printer yet. 😊🤦‍♂️

My backlog when I eventually get one will be huge!

I ressemble that remark. I have tons of 3D models (particularly from Fat Dragon), but no 3D printer.

I don't even know if I really want a 3D printer if the models are only to be added to my shelf of shame. So I'm kind of sticking to real models only now.

Same deal with PDFs vs real books of many RPGs I'll probably never play.

[HELP!]

I know the feeling.  I've only purchased one set of stl terrain files (HexHog's original Kickstarter), but odds are I'll add in several more before I even buy the kit for the printer I want...

I’m a Patreon of the Prey Collection Studio, which does TMNT and other 80’s/90’s cartoons. That led to me backing another Patreon, plus several STL Kickstarters. My friend has printed a few minis off for me, but the rest are just sitting on my computer, biding their time.

I think I’ll end up with a printer in the next 1-2 years, depending on how fast the tech keeps advancing and how much prices drop.

The above printer really has my interest.  I preordered the Elegoo Mars 3 printer but now I’m torn. Not sure if I should get this one as well.  FYI.  I have never 3d printed anything before.  I didn’t even own a computer.

First Created.

Have you asked the opinion of the Reaper 3D board?

The Crealty 3D is, afaik, a commonly used model, and its price is lower now that a new Crealty is out.

You'll need a computer or phone to put the files onto the SD card, but that's about it?

I've switched to mostly stl kickstarters then physical offerings lately. The last 2 physical ones: Bini the Bunny "Little Bunny Dreamer" kids book & Animal Adventures: The Faraway Sea are the last 2 physical ones. Bini has fulfilled & it's early stages with AA. I've also cut way back on what I've backed as well. Anymore, it's creators I've back in the past that gets priority over news ones. Thou I will probably not back Fat Dragon Games' new one as it doesn't really interest me (+ I wasn't too thrilled the way the last KS fulfilled).

(After I posted that I checked on one of my favorite Kickstarter creators & I see they've got one coming in a few days) Statuesque Miniatures.

Added the Exemplar Wet Palette because it looked great and I needed to up my game. Plus, I’ve backed Game Envy in the past and they’re a great operation.

Mammoth Maps has been received!!! This project was almost derailed so many times but this creator got creative and really helped keep my faith in humanity.

Exemplar Wet Palette

Please let us know what you think of it when it arrives! I'm a little leery of any prototype that involves sealing in water (I vaguely recall another wet palette KS had some sort of problem like that) but am always looking out for a good wet palette. Unfortunately, being lazy (and funny how there's no room on the painting desk when it never gets cleaned up), most of my palettes are bottlecaps, GW paint lids, and color primer and craft paint caps! 🙄

Speaking of wet palettes, Red Grass Games emailed me to remind me to fill out my pledge manager, so I have to decide if I'm going to get a second v2 palette or not, or just do the one oils palette idea...

But I'm also down to just this one last Kickstarter.  Feels kind of odd, feels kind of nice at the same time.

Mammoth Maps has gotten me a shipping notice from Belgium, but we’ll see how long it will take to get through the global shipping nightmare.

I’ve backed the Game Envy wet palette too. I love my painting handle and Kit runs a very tight ship, so I have a lot of confidence that he can deliver on his promises.
