A few bones............ freshly painted - UPDATED

Recommended Posts

I originally ordered the worm and werewolf way before the Kickstarter. I was extremely impressed by the quality and the price. Strangely, the worm suffered from the tacky paint issue where the werewolf never did. I use the same paints and primers on everything. I have re-coated a few minis after reading a few suggestions here and found Testors Dulcote does work at coating the minis and removing the tackiness from finished models.

I'll be busy painting for the next year.....

EDIT: as suggested, these are the minis posted below (in order).

77006: Great Worm

77005: Ogre Chieftain

77009: Werewolf

77038: Hell Hound

89001: Pathfinder Red Dragon

77063: Duke Gerard

89003: Pathfinder Goblin Warrior

77050: Lizardman Warrior

77058: Almaran the Gold, Paladin

77143: Townsfolk: Undertaker

77158: Arrius, Skeletal Warrior

Very nice!

You should consider entering your Pathfinder Red into the running "Here Be Dragons" contest. ::D:

I didn't know there was one.

Ya it would be nice to have something advertising the current forum contests on the forum itself. But there is one and enter him!

Thanks all... it's posted. I don't consider myself a pro painter at all.

That's why the non-diorama part of the contest is more participation prizes than skills. The diorama part, however, is the opposite that way we have a year long contest that caters to everyone.

I like what you did, thanks for the pictures.

Only the hellhound looks little wrong. You painted the hottest parts of the flames on his back on the outside.

The tongue of the dragon should not have the same color of the horns. But everything else on him is really stunning.

I really like the goblin and the lizzy man.

You should put the names of the bones you painted in your first thread. It will help to find your pictures for others to help them painting their bones. They are worthy examples.

the pathfinder dragon looks spectacular, the belly scales are inspiring..I love it ..except the blue horns and tongue..they look out of place. they need some deeper shading and some highlights to match the rest of the painting you did.as is they seem flat vs the rest of the dragon..I think abit more work on the horns could really elevate that piece

.really great work overall tho..keep it up!

The face on that goblin just screams crazy, I love it.

Also the dragon, like everyone else said, is awesome with the blue horn detail!

This Bones figure was the demonstration model in my 2-hour "Good Fast Painting" class at ReaperCon 2017.  I got her about 2/3 done in the class.
She stood half-painted on my shelf for a year and a half.
This past Sunday, I just needed to paint something, and this was it.  An hour later, I was ready to call her done.
As always, I spent a lot more time per square millimeter on the face & eyes.
      Enjoy!

Got to get a brighter light, but here are my bugbears.

      Hey all, been a while.

Quick job from Bones 4. Added a saddle, threw on a Mantic Soul Reaver cavalry rider with a head swap from Puppetswar.

The Whispering Tyrant from the second Bones kickstarter. This is an officially licensed Pathfinder miniature. So I guess it is some sort of evil adversary in some adventure or other in that game.
For me, this is Loki. I expect you see why. To make the model even more similar to the trickster god, I cut off the central helment-thing and carved the helmet round. Which took me whole tens of seconds! Bones material is really easy to cut and convert. I will miss this aspect with the Bones Black minis.
On this mini I have tried out some new colorshift paints from Green Stuff World and a flip paint (which is supposed to get the same effect) from Instar.
I probably did not do it right, as I don't think it has much of a colorshifting effect (there is a slight effect, though). The instructions say to use a gloss black undercoat and many, many thin layers to get the effect.
I did not do that. On a brown basecoat I used GSW Mystic Gold colorshift, and Instar Green Gold Flip, with GSW Tropical Green at the tips and edges. and I just glooped it on! Two or three thick coats of each paint is used here. So next time, maybe I should try actually following the instructions...
Anyhow, this model will make a good leader for my undead legions, or even a C'Tan for the Necrons.

My first post here! I thought the bones 4 ape men would make good soldiers for my growing demonic army. Still thinking of tweaking some of the smaller details and considering also painting the armored one as a barlgura. Tried to give some texture by dry brushing orange over a black base coat for fur. I also tried to dry brush around the eyes to create a deep red glowing effect.

Shown with a human paladin for scale.
C and c welcome but keep in mind I’m pretty new to this!

The monster Manual art for reference:
