Grimreaper71
Hero scale would have been almost a giant when I started in 88 image.jpg Yes. Left to right, a current 1/72 plastic figure, a 1982 Julie Guthrie Ral Partha knight, and Sir Forescale in Bones... wow what a difference
Grimreaper71
Time for more old Lead! Finishing of the High School- Enlistment time (1981-1984), One of the discoveries that we mad at the time was this neat new company called Superior Miniatures, and they made some Great Knights and Wizards! We all ran out and bought what we could find and afford... I don't remember if they ever made thieves or clerics. Anyone? 2 Knights: 090.jpg 094.jpg 092.jpg wow love the wizard with the lizard on his back. Also the balrog is great, the minator with the white eyes I have that one. Nice to see this thread still going I know I had more at some point but where now? 2 Wizards: 086.jpg 088.jpg Same as above.... A Gnome... 096.jpg 097.jpg And a Halfling: 110.jpg112.jpg Still bought RP stuff too... A Djinn: 164.jpg 159.jpg A Minotaur: 191.jpg 193.jpg 195.jpg And because we started using them in game, a Citadel pack mule: 186.jpg 183.jpg When I finally settled into my unit in Germany, I found some AD&D players, and we played. No one had any figures there, and finding some TSR box sets at the PX was a bonus! Most of them were not the best sculpts IMHO, even for the time, but my friends and I painted some of them with the paint set we got at the same time. A Gnome: 100.jpg 101.jpg I did not paint this... Ken Vancil did. You out there Ken? I think I may have some more of these in the 'old lead box' will look... I went on leave after a year and came back with a bunch of minis, as well as my Polly S paints amd we set to painting. The Citadel 'Kindly Wizard' shown earlier was done then Another talented friend, Kurt Hamilton, (you out there Kurt?) painted the RP Ral the Lord of Balrogs that I had brought: 148.jpg 150.jpg 151.jpg 154.jpg He also modified and painted this Citadel (?) figure: 083.jpg 082.jpg I picked up some Grenadier boxes as well, Monsters of Mythology: Minotaur: 198.jpg A Harpy: http://forum.reapermini.com/public/style_images/master/attachicon.gif 174.jpg http://forum.reapermini.com/public/style_images/master/attachicon.gif 178.jpg A Griffon: http://forum.reapermini.com/public/style_images/master/attachicon.gif 165.jpg http://forum.reapermini.com/public/style_images/master/attachicon.gif 168.jpg The Grenadier Giants from this time will be posted tomorrow, need to PAINT something
knarthex
Okay Grenadier Giants: Fire Giant: His Hellhounds: This was when I first learned about washes, and really went to town on him... The Frost Giants: Male: Female: The Female Frost Giant languished in a partly done state for 25 years... I recently stripped all the old paint off and re painted her from the ground up in June of this year.... The Male Giants and Hell Hounds are making my fingers itch to strip and repaint, but there is so much other stuff to paint.... Next College Years... knarthex
Okay, I lied... Found some more high school stuff... Ral Partha Goblins: These guys got a lot of use during games!!!! As did these... RP Orcs... closer view of each type: If you look closely at the spearorc on the left, you can see he is anatomically correct! Some of the goblins in that line were like that too.... (Citadel made a troll like this that looked like it had 3 legs! Still laugh when I see those adds in old Dragons!) Also found 2 citadels, a spider and carrion crawler: Collage next, it is going to look like the Ral Partha AD&D catalog....
knarthex
I lied again! As I have about 95% of the Ral Partha AD&D monsters, as well as the Forgotten Realms Figures, I am going to put them in a separate thread in case people want to use it as a reference... Did I read that ALL the molds for those wonderful minis were destroyed somewhere here? If so, that is really a shame....

Citrine
The Grenadier female frost giant came in two versions, in a blister pack by herself with no antlers, and in a box set with the male giant where she had antlers.
