Okay I bought every dragon last KS, so I promised myself that I wouldn't buy any new dragons for this KS. I can't hold to that promise if Tiamat makes an appearance though!

You think you'll be able to resist Narthrax? I certainly can't. Such a dynamic sculpt!!

You can change it however you want but the second it comes up it's still making me think click your heels together and say you believe in fairies.

You've never met my fairies.

Nobody who has ever wants to again. The fey play by their own rules.

The question is if they wear pants...

Tarrasque is no match for a well-handled kobold clan.

It's gotten to the point now where if my players hear rumors of 'small, orange-hued dog like humanoids', or even 'middling, somewhat pink hued, cat like lizardmen' they turn around and go home.

Like anything else, fairies have an ecology. They have a way of living. A different perspective on life. Different values, mores, and sensibilities. While a fairy may not be naturally inclined to evil, a fairy may hold things in high esteem that other races ignorantly dismiss.

Pick her favourite flower by mistake from her unmarked, yet still precious, toadstool garden & pool and you best enjoy all of the sweet scent you can cram into your nostrils. Every last olfactory treat of it.

Because when she come back? She gonna be pissed. And you, "big one", are going to pay. And you ain't never paid like a fairy will make you pay. Small stature, lonnnnnnnnng memory. You will never

Honestly, I'm just not a fan of high level D&D. I prefer low-mid level adventuring, the higher it gets the more game-breaking pitfalls their are.

I would tend to agree beyond level 8 it seems to just be completely broken especially if you have a wizard in the party. (speaking of pathfinder or 3.5 and not 4th Ive never played 4th.)

With that said when you get that high level almost nothing in the Monster Manual/Bestiary seems to even pose a threat anyway. But then all the cool stuff is high level like Balors and Pit fiends, Vampires and Lichs, Ancient Dragons...It just seems like perhaps these games shoudl run things with level 10 being the max that would simplfy things. Most people hate highlevel play because encouters take 4 hours plus.

It is a dynamic sculpt, but I have all those dragons from the KS 1 that I haven't even touched yet and I don't need more dragons, so unless Tiamat rears her pretty head, I'm going to hold strong!

Also, the scariest thing about fairies comes down to two things:

1. If you make it mad, it is relentless. It's on you like The Terminator.

2. It's clever. It won't attack you. You might not even know you have earned its wrath. It won't cut your throat out like an imp. It'll just... bother you.

A little at first. Just a minor nuisance. A little more later, to a bit of a troublesome thing. But eventually?

Eventually you won't be able to sleep.

And you'll grow tired.

And weak.

And fatigue rules kick in.

Then follows madness...

... and death.

Are they anything like Tucker's Kobolds?

Well, I'm guessing that Mr. Lips has his faeries faeying by their own rules. Which is, to say, that he ascribes to the traditional depiction of the fey. Beings of the senses. They will absolutely grant your wish, and destroy you with your hearts desire. They are the feathery kiss of snow that heralds hypothermia, the gentle caress of the sun that brings heatstroke. The fae are other. They play with us for their own amusement, and toss away their toys for a new enthusiasm without a backwards thought.

One of my D&D characters is a halfing faepact warlock who was the lover of a fae Lord of Winter. She's slowly turning into an icicle, her warlocks blade is a sliver of enchanted ice, and her lover has done this to her for his own amusement and abandonded her without a backwards glance... and she still craves his attention. His focus. She spends her life wrestling for the approval of someone who has forgotten her the moment his attention shifted.

Which makes story hooks, and roleplaying her, rather fun : )

As for kobolds... we're talking about a small, cunning, not overly intelligent race. But they're more than capable of, for example, taking human babies hostage and forcing the village inn keeper to direct the adventurers to a ancient red dragons lair at level 3. And who'll disguise their own lair to look like a dragons weyr. Or build pit traps, and smear the incline leading to them with grease. And have barrels of oil ready to roll down that incline, and small wheeled wagons to set on fire and send careening down that greased slope to roast adventurers alive. Or hamstring adventurers as they past. Or lurk in privys, just waiting to stick a spear where the sun shineth noth.

Just to give a few examples of just why you don't screw with kobolds. They're small, they're evil, and they have to work together. They're dangerous our of proportion with their size.
