Bones Kickstarter #2 Discussion

I have come to realize that my tastes do not reflect popular sales. While this is disconcerting, it's why I like to see variety more than "just stuff Buglips wants". Because it might turn out that Bones I don't like are profitable enough to subsidize production of ones I do.

*Q3 2015*

"So we have the sales figures of the Bones from the second kickstarter for the past year to date. Everything is doing pretty well, except the mountain troll."

"How many have we sold?"

"200. All of them to Buglips."

I can guarantee that won't happen because at least 10 will be bought by me.

I was hopeing that we'd make it to the next goal by the time I woke up. I was kinda hopeing for The Storm Lizard or whatever his name is (the blue dragon) Or something else entirely like a tarrasque :P. Just not feeling this one.

I really want a Tarrasque but I have a feeling if he is offered in this KS it will probably be towards the end like they did with Cthullhu theyre about the same size

If thats how it is so be it. Im ok with that...Im ok with it not being there at all. I would be disappointed but Im getting alot of cool stuff that I can still use. So far I think the G cubes are my favorite.

but the tarrasque is my white whale so to speak. I remember back in the day on the Wizards webstie I compaigned for the D&D Icons line to make one. Instead...they made Orcus...why I dont know. Seemed like all hope was lost. I was kinda hopeing for it in KS 1 but I didnt really get a chance to mention it because I came in late. So here we are, but in order to do it justice it would have to be atleast the size of Nethermaul....(one of the dragons I regret not getting and is kicking himself for getting the hydra instead mostly just to remain under budget.)

LOL, I'm not complaining, but I will second the question. Can he stand up with that small base?

Not to run counter to Sergei too much, but yes. My Verocithrax is mounted on a 60mm round (I think). Of course, it's metal, not Bones. For a Bones one, I'm guessing you are going to want a bigger base for stability. Verocithrax is pretty top-heavy. I'll try to snag a pic of mine tonight, if you'd like.

We're having Kevin adapt the base based on what we have learned with our other dragons.

Bryan, I hope you don't perceive any of my comments as a criticism. I love you guys and what your doing. If dragons and heroes fund the rest of the line, then by all means, get the products on the shelf. I'll take my monsters and mooks as I can get them. :D

It's fine. Every update just stresses me out. And the last two days have been rough because of other issues, not entirely work related, and I'm sorry I exploded at people.

You posted that in the wrong spot, Bryan. This isn't the KS comments page. :;):

This is where I come to be ME. Over there I have to be the Hat.

That was the cutest explosion ever. I'm super thrilled with all the dragons long ago before there was a thing as Bones or KS i vowed to own all the reaper dragons well fast forward years later so far I've only gotten Gauth but now with this KS I will have Blightfang, Cinder and Verocithrax I'm living the dream!!!

We measure popularity in sales, not comments. Boo Hiss I hate that goal tends to get written off fairly rapidly because last time people complained about there being so many dragons, but when sales data came in, they outsold everything - so complaints and reality didn't line up

Overall I understand and agree with this principle. The only problem with it though is, things like cavalry slip through the cracks. I LOVE cavalry. But, admittedly I have actually purchased very little of them because of the cost hindrance. I feel that this is probably true for many of the reaper faithful. So, if you look strictly at sales I would imagine that cavalry are in the bottom third when it comes to metal sales.

But, I think if offered in this plasticy goodness, with a much more manageable price point, you will see those numbers climb dramatically. I am not gonna say they would go all the way to the top, but I do think you would see them go up enough notches to justify the addition.

The way I see it if I give a "negetive" response to a goal. Its mearly for reaper to see who likes it and who doesnt. I see it as giving feedback. and I could very well be a minority in that respect but it is in no way to be insulting.

You guys at reaper do a great job and I own SOOOO many of your products its insane. but no ones perfect. Those guys in the KS forums need a chill pill.

I realized years ago that I am not statistically significant.

At this point the only thing I'm really desperate to see is cavalry. Everything else is gravy, but cavalry is currently my #1.

Also at some point a Takhisimat, because if I have one in Bones I will paint it. All of it. Possibly in 7 days.

But cavalry first. I am desperate for a large unit of riders.

I'm just going to touch on ROW shipping again.

I don't really have a problem with paying actual shipping cost, that's fair enough. Would a flat rate have been great? Sure, but that's out of the question now.

My request isn't so much about the "what," but about the "when."

To me it would make more sense for ROW pledgers to pay for shipping closer to the actual shipping date than right after the KS closes. Prices might have gone up by then and who's going to pay the difference then? So shipping payment next year (e.g. 1-2 months before each wave starts shipping - Reaper might have also received all some of the packages so they can give a more precise weight to each bundle) would make me much happier (and would also make me able to put a bit more into the actual KS).

Having close to a year to save up for shipping would probably ease a lot of ROW pledgers, so they would chip in more on the actual KS too.

Someone might then ask: "But what if people can't pay the shipping when they are requested to do so next year?"

That's their loss, they've already had close to a year to save up and they have already paid the money for the KS. If they haven't been able to save up by then... tough luck.

A note about a Tarrasque mini:

Several people, including a fairly recent Kickstarter, have received Cease & Desist letters from WotC when they've tried to produce a Tarrasque mini in the likeness found in the D&D books. It might not be something Reaper wants to have to deal with (or maybe they don't care or have gotten permission to make one... only they know). Just a thought.

Reaper is friendly with WotC, it's a small community. They usually run stuff by them first if they think there might be a problem. A "Torask" or "Dohrghask" that vaguely-resembled in size and capability the creature in question, but was distinct enough to be its own thing, would be okay.

The ones that got in trouble forgot the "distinct enough to be its own thing" part.

As someone that has made comments that are potentially critical of the quantity of dragons, I will say that I do see and understand the reasoning behind it.

They aren't my cup of tea, but then *points at avatar* I'm the weird guy hoping for a supers set.
