Bones Kickstarter #2 Discussion

The next goal I'm a little less excited about - Verocithrax looks really different from other dragons in the Reaper line to the point where I'm just not interested in him. Not saying it isn't a good sculpt or anything it just isn't my cuppa.

That's what I thought at first too... then I bought the one I have (it was already painted), and I've not regretted it. He is a very cool dragon, and very different than nearly every other dragon in my (considerable) collection.

We likely won't get him in the kickstarter, but at some point I will run out of things to paint and then my eyes will shift to wanting him as something new to paint. If it is a mini and in this house the chances are high it will be painted. I am waiting to see what else is unvieled as I have been told what the budget is and it is already pledged.

I am a long time painter but am new to Bones/Reaper. I just joined the kickstarter II. Does anyone have a higher resolution image or images of the mini's in the new Kickstarter. I have found a few combing through reapermini.com but that takes a long time.

Yes, naponatom has made an excellent thread with links to pictures of all the available sculpts that can be found on Reaper's online store: http://www.reapermini.com/forum/index.php?/topic/51663-ks-bones-ii-list-of-miniatures/

Welcome aboard, and especially welcome to the forums! :)

I agree with Hellcow about the split of the discussion to a new/different thread.

To stay on topic of the Kickstarter, I have upped my pledge as well to include the CE #1. I still have to find a way to tell my wife that I'm going to be doing this KS... Maybe when they show up in a year I'll say something like "oh I forgot to tell you?" Better to ask forgiveness then permission perhaps?

I just told my husband - "I just want to go in for the $1, just for the updates, and we can decide later how much we'll back" Which quickly turned into "I did the $100 because they're doing shipping waves." and then "Look at this awesome gelatinous cube!" and it's snowballing....

Heh. When I told my wife there was a G-Cube in this KS she said 'Oh well - we'll need one of those!' (note that she has never painted a mini in her life but loves looking at them on the tabletop - it is how we met afterall - over a game of Warhammer RPG!).

She also liked the Mouselings so those are 'needed' too! :)

I also asked Bryan in the Ks comments for a high res image of the core set, he said he'd ask the graphics team to work on it.

My wife will watch my friends and I for a few minutes at a time play, but she has no interest whatsoever in playing herself or painting. My hobbies don't interest her much.

As an aside, I have upped my pledge again, but shhhhh be quiet about it. I've gone through those add-ons numerous times and decided what I absolutely can or can not live without... up to $203 and counting... Edited by ladystorm

Verocithrax *is* very cool, I'm just concerned about how his spindly Bonesium legs will handle all of the weight of the rest of him. Reaper has said that they are working to get the base resculpted so that it won't be so tip-over prone, but as far as I know they haven't said anything about how sturdy he will be. Now granted, that's very likely something they won't know until they get the prototype.

Thread split? :poke:

Yes.

At least it's not as bad as the last KS thread. I think we deserve marks for much improvement.

Hmm, we'll see.

On the one hand, it is probably justified.

On the other hand, I fear what would be posted in the new, unfettered, discussion.

Quite justified.

Thread has been split.

That's why I like him; he's totally not a normal dragon. He's big, and ugly, and gorgeous. And when my players meet him, they'll already have dealt with three other dragons, and they'll think "ho-hum, a dragon," and then I'll put the mini down, and they'll say, "whoa. Not so much ho-hum."

And then he'll eat their memories.

And it will be glorious.

I like Verocithrax.

It might be worth backers in other countries checking their options for similar services. Also, for NZ, the duty is per package, according to the Customs website. Potentially I'd be entirely within my rights to make another pledge under a different Kickstarter account to get the stuff sent in two packages, neither exceeding $230 US. Yeah, I'd pay 2 sets of shipping, but against that I'd be saving $100 at a minimum for the customs.

I'm going to check that with my Customs department now actually so I don't cross any lines.

Standard disclaimer - I reserve the right to be wrong, mistaken, or full of crap. No warranty implied. Batteries not included. Evading customs is a bad, bad, bad idea and is not condoned in any way, shape, or form by the management. Stated views do not reflect the views of the author. Views are illegal, immoral, and quite possibly fattening. You have been warned.

Right, I checked. According to a response from a direct question to NZ Customs:

"With regards to multiple imports, your goods must arrive on different days and have separate invoices so as not to be deemed as separated in order to avoid Customs duty and GST."

So, specifically for New Zealand backers: as long as they don't arrive on the same day you could make seperate orders under different Kickstarter accounts and come in under the ~$280 NZ limit for Customs. I don't know if I'll go to the trouble myself, but it's good to know for sure.

Looks like either the CE provided a big boost or they were right about the weekends being slow; we got more today than either Saturday or Sunday.

Slow weekends seems to be pretty common with Kickstarters, and with online sales, in general. People seem to like to shop online from work during the week.

Poppycock! I work when I'm at work!
