Wow, just looked over at Patrick Keith's work and I'm impressed. Just plain awesome sculpts and I really dig the Female Cloud Giant, I don't care what anyone says she's one of the best sculpts around in my opinion. I haven't painted her up yet either because I really want to be able to do the figure justice when I do.

Im not understanding all this adversion to the female storm giant. I mean I didnt really like it as part of the core set in KS 1. Simply because I have no use for giants (because I have a ton already) but of all the giants she was definately the best female one. The thing I didnt like about the other giants was they had the body types of dwarves. So they would be great for big duergar. I think the storm giants were the best representation of actual giants.

Already did Buglips. You know I think I'm getting used to you.

The smell is pungent but thankfully the acclimation period is fairly short, since it singes the hairs clean off. :p

I have two adult feline and one kitten. Right now smells are the least of my worries. He already chewed two wingtips off of my painted Ebonwrath and left bite marks around the spot he chewed of the second. Apparently dragons have nothing on kittens.
Cats are small, furry, wingless dragons and they resent the competition. ;)

Hoping that I can get that silver dragon later. How big is it?

Yeah, looking through Patrick Keith's work was almost like reviewing my wishlist... I've already bought several of his sculpts in metal and I have my eye on more. Maybe this time there should be a "Keith's Classics" analogous to the Klocke Classics from last time around. :)

Similar in size to the fire dragon from the last KS.

I'll certainly not argue issues of taste; you like what you like.

But. ^_^

Mass varies with the cube of height and skeletal strength rises with bone thickness, which varies with the square of height. (For a given body type.) So "squatty" makes sense for tall creatures.

Ok but since the storm giant looks preportionatly human in comparison to the other which look dwarven. (to me anyway) It seems to me they could get away with it. Lets not forget that theye were able to do the colossal skeleton which had to be more of an issue with bone thickness and skeletal strengh....Im also not saying they are bad if I collected them just to paint them up and display them I would probably have picked them up but Im in it for the game peices and giants I have so many of them. I think about 10 different ones. And the storm giant that i got in the core. I might still use as titans. (which used to be an old school creature but they decided to give them a element in 3rd edition I think it was or 3.5)

On the topic of dragon gender, I believe that the backstory for Cinder is that she is female and T'Razul is her mate.

Andy

And on that note, can we please get T'Raukzul?

Yes, I know I already have him in metal. Yes, I know it took me 12 years to open the box, and 2 more months to paint him. But I used so many new techniques and experimented so much on him I would like to do another. Especially if it was lighter and unlikely to require a wrist splint afterwards.

I just decided to stop by here after a long absence and say the following:

I hate you, Reaper. I hate you with every fiber of my being. Do you know what it is that I hate you so much? It's because you decided to run this kickstarter now instead of sometime near the end of January. I don't have the money to buy into this one right now. I probably won't have the money to buy in after it ends if you allow such a thing via the pledge manager like you did last time. And so I'm going to have to wait until well after the last shipment leaves in order to buy the handful of minis that I really want out of this one.

I hope you're pleased with yourself.

I have been hated for less.

I wonder if his head would fit on Cinders body...hmmm

A lot of my favourite sculptors are ones that Reaper uses, which is why I already have so much of what's on offer in this KS in metal. Especially the Chronoscope and assorted adventuring type minis.

Going back to the Talin conversation for just a moment, I did PM Reaper through the kickstarter comments with a message of encouragement to be forwardee to Talin, back when all the kafluffle was originally going on over the cloud giantess. I hope he got it.

If he did though, it wasn't enough to convince him to come back to the comments section. ::(:

I think the "poor" and/or dumber giants look better if they look a bit worse off and lanky, while the more civilized giants (fire, frost, storm) are more filled out and "well-to-do". I mean, there's a reason those giant types are more fearsome and more dominant than the inbred hill giants or hermit stone giants... ::P:

Regarding the giants from KS 1, I thought all of the sculpts were stellar. I know some people hated on the cloud giant's pose, and I'll admit it's a little odd at first glance, but I think that when viewed in the light of a "friendly encounter" with a smaller-than-giant-sized creature it makes a lot more sense. It's nice to have a good-aligned giant that doesn't look like it's trying to club you to death!

This right here! That's exactly how I picture her too, that pose is awesome when she's looking down on the cute little adventurers who have come to beg her for a boon! Not all giants are evil, just like not all adventurers are good.

To be fair, Fire Giants are supposed to look like giant dwarves. They have always been described like that. Here's the PF description:

This lumbering giant has short stumpy legs and powerful, muscular arms. Its hair and beard seem to be made of fire.

IMO, the Frost Giants didn't really look like Dwarves. YMMV.

Exactly!

Just look up on Google for images of giants from the artwork of various D&D/Pathfinder artists. They come in all shapes and sizes from stubby looking to lithe.
