Bones Kickstarter #2 Discussion

I was thinking along the same lines, but I was wondering if there would be consideration that Canadian Bones would be made in the USA to avoid duty. We Canucks would surely be a small number of orders. It would add an extra bit of headache on Reaper's part, but would free up $12 for an extra AddOn :)

That would pretty much require two sets of molds. Since the molds are the expensive part, I don't think that will happen.

Hmmm... with the last reveal, the stirrings of a Forgotten Realms setting where Land Sharks fall from the sky on unsuspecting adventurers from land motes may have to happen....:devil:

I think putting out more aquatic figures is a good thing for the company because one of Pathfinders current campaign settings is: Towns of the inner sea. And I know they are going to have a more aquatic theme for a bit because they just put out their own pre-paint Skulls and Shackles line. Add to it a Pathfinder Society adventure path, and I think there will be a demand for more aquatic figures.

I myself have always loved them since my first module U1 Sinister secret of Salt Marsh. Leaving me with always a desire and on the look out for aquatic minis. (Though I have never been successful in running any group fully through the entire thing) and now since it is so publically available, it's not a big secret any more.

But it has left me with a life long appreciation of how fun aquatic adventures can be, and how they add special challenges for the party members to overcome.

Don't even joke man. Had a campaign where people in our local big city were encountering/being possessed by something that would corrupt their deepest desires to create havoc.

When the local fisherman was "infected" it rained so hard that the streets started to flood. And then the rain turned to sharks around the same time the fisherman would have needed the big mini from the latest reveal. In the end, we needed to leap from rooftop to rooftop over streets filled with deadly fish trying to get close enough to defeat the shark-fisherman.

We lost so many pcs, the game ended after that session. All because of we couldn't jump the sharks.

Beyond the boundaries of Anhur's light

Stand these soldiers waiting for the night

So many times the darkness comes unto our gates

When the monsters come again

They will meet their fate

(Chorus)

And on that day when you need a sword and a shield to defend

On them you'll depend

Anhurian soldiers

Holding the line 'gainst the monsters that come from the Land of Despair

Standing on guard for the innocents sheltered

They'll always be ready

Because they will always be there

When there are demons howling in the streets

When the crows swoop down from the sky to eat

When the horizon burns under the Black Hand

Right here tucked behind their shields

You can make your stand

(CHORUS)

Hope and pray that you never need them

But rest assured they will not let you down

They stand around you though you may not see them

The strongest among them defending the crown

(CHORUS)

(CHORUS)

...with apologies to

Hmm, not sure I have a use for aquatic types, but that shark dude will be awfully fun to paint.

And, you know, is that not the point of miniatures, really?

Sure, Bones are a little different from metal, resin, or GW-style plastic. But they are great

for learning new techniques.

As I put to a friend of mine "You would not want to paint Crom on his Throne without mastering

painting bone. Hey! Look! 9 skeletons to practice on!" (Crom on his Throne is what we are calling

the skeleton guy on the throne. It so reminds us of that scene in the first Conan movie where Conan

finds the Atlantean king entombed, and initially thinks it is Crom).

It predated Sharknado by a couple years. If he were to do it again today, I'm sure the dm would have thrown it in there.

"Crom on his Throne" is now going to be my new family-friendly expletive.

Player: "I want to cut off the kobold's head and smash it over my fist so I can use it as a puppet."

Me: "Crom on his Throne! What's wrong with you people?"

Player: "Can I use my charisma check to make my horse french kiss the merchant's mule?"

Me; "Crom on his Throne, no!"

It works. It's a solid phrase. Very versatile.

Do keep in mind, we need the blessing of a moderator and a dedicated thread for trading since they don't allow it normally. (hint hint moderator....)

Last Kickstarter trade thread was a first time ever allowed trade thread on the forum. I do not know if one will be allowed for this KS or not.

Until then, please remember everyone to abide by the Board Rules regarding sales and trades.

If it is allowed this time, one of us will start the thread. I have not heard anything about such a thread being greenlit for this KS, at this time.

Official request to open a trade thread similar to KS 1. However, might I suggest starting the thread, the locking it until approximately 30 days before shipping is scheduled to start? This way, the trade window can be very short and the thread can be closed 60 days after last shipping package.

Way way back I suggested "Bones II: Officially Jumping the Shark" for this kickstarter....maybe a not-Fonz in a leather jacket and water skis is a future option. ::D:

Some interesting info here regarding the Calculator.

Creator Reaper Miniatures 1 minute ago

@David Scharf - it is not permanently locked until until some time after the KS ends. you can make as many changes as you like to your selections now, it does not forcibly make any changes to the actual KS pledge.
The Pledge button does take you back to the Project page here at Kickstarter.com to adjust your pledge, but you do not have to complete that change.

Creator Reaper Miniatures less than a minute ago

@David - yes and no. We're not real-time tracking the data, but when you hit recalculate, we are saving what you have selected, as a way of gauging interest. We do not see what you specifically have put in, we see that X backers selected Option A.
So far we have looked at that data once, this morning, to se what activity was like overnight. We will probably check it 2-3 times a day, and look for massive shifts.

I'm now very tempted to go in and ask for 10 Chronoscope options and hit recalculate.
