The hinted hard at cavalry before. I am surprised that isn't next.

Im not sure we've had any hints as to whats coming up next. Ive only seen hints along the lines of "this is one of the planned stretch goals which might eventually come up".

When I think of dinosaurs, I don't want normal boring regular dinosaurs. I want some dinosaurs with some ooomph to them. Like this guy. I think the world needs more armored dinosaurs. Being ridden by giant armored dragon men.

I don't need the same figure mind you, because I will harass Antimatter Games to no end to get a new one sculpted, but armored dino cavalary that tower over the battlefield to eat and gore everything in sight is something every tabletop game needs more of.

 

And those dudes getting dwarfed by the rockin' dragon man are typical sized 28mm dudes.

I would love to see a dismounted version of the rider...

He said someone guessed it earlier in the comments. The way he put it implied it WASN'T the Sphinx because he said it was an earlier guess. Kitsune, Angel, and Genie were all valid guesses. We've already been told they plan to make an Angel tier that included new Angel(s) so that wouldn't be a big surprise.

Sorry, youre right. I thought the sphinx hadnt been mentioned close to when he posted that comment, but it had. (Although it was guessed earlier as well)

 

Personally I think Kitsune, Angel and Genie are unlikely. Angels and Kitsune wouldnt typically be considered "monsters", and even djinni are borderline, and Kitsune in particular are usually depicted as regular human size which wouldnt make for an impressive stretch goal of its own. Im not sure djinn and angels match the "assumed to be from one culture but actually from another" very well either.

 

Actually to be honest having gone through the comments I cant really see any suggestions that are an obvious match for all of the clues.

Had to drop my main core set pledge (sigh, international shipping, not WANTING enough of the core set and over-commitment elsewhere)

 

but I'm hanging in for a few of the add-ons on my other account (got to have those hill giants)

International shipping is becoming a killer for a number of Kickstarters. I'm not affected by it on this one but I have passed on several EU based ones that the rate was so high it made no sense to back. If I was facing the shipping charge for this one I would still participate because I like allmost all of the core. Infact there is only one group out of the core set I don't like and will be reimagining it shourtly after reciept.

Any wagers on the next stretch goal? It should be orange, going by the pattern...

 

Since we are on the topics sculpts we would like to see and since others have posted dino-cavalry. I want dinosaurs. Just plain old regular ones. No riders needed. My inner 5-year old can't live with out some dinosaur Bones.

...Collecta doesn't do it for you, either?

 

 

I can't speak for Hibou, but (if memory serves) Collecta is pretty far out of scale for your typical gaming miniature.

 

It doesn't make a difference for some things. (You can always substitute a model for a bigger/smaller type of dinosaur that is similar looking), but that isn't a universal fix.

 

I would also like to see Bones dinos, even if it's only Bones versions of Reaper's existing sculpts, but I can wait for next time.

I'm sure the people and horses are out of scale, but the dinosaurs might be about right.

 

My CollectA triceratops is actually pretty close to spot-on with my 25-32mm minis. True 25mm is almost exactly right, and 32mm makes it a young triceratops, but they're pretty close. I don't know what the rest of the range looks like, though...I don't know if the T-Rex (for example) is in scale with the triceratops.

 

Can someone with more experience in the line give us an idea?

I have been wondering about the Collecta scales for a long time.

Dinos makes me wonder about the Bones polymer being ingested. Not by other Dinos but by small humans. I'm afraid that my Dino loving boys would get into them and play with them and if they give them to the youngest who would chew on it.

Ok, just as a recap, here are all the things that were guessed before the "already guessed" comment (earliest to latest guesses, some duplicates removed).

Ron's comment about it being assumed from one culture but actually from another was in response to:

I had originally taken it to mean from Greek, but assumed Roman or the other way around. I was tired at the time, and don't think that's the case after re-reading it.

 

So... my bet's on the Sphinx, which has deep roots in both Greek and Egyptian pre-history. I think some of the Egyptian statues were built earlier but the word is Greek. And everyone knows Oedipus Rex.

 

 

It's hard when one of the clue's is based on popular assumption!
