Full Core Expansion #1 is within spitting distance. I bumped my pledge in anticipation. Any fence-sitters like me should do likewise :).

I don't think this is where fence sitters are hanging out. I just hope they catch up to the amount I've already pledged.

Both of them started picking up around the 100-miniature mark, but it took awhile for KS1 to reach this point, whereas KS2 it was about 100 miniatures on day one.

KS1 did not have the EB waves. KS2 encouraged backers to sign up on day one because they'd get their shipments earlier. KS1 didn't have any such incentive to sign up immediately. KS1 did have Dungeon Attack, which was a great deal, something like 30 mini's for $15. Sure, the mini's were small, but most casual miniature owners didn't own them and they were monsters commonly used in dungeons.

KS2 has larger miniatures, but less common ones.

I believe (I hope I'm not mis-paraphrasing here) Reaper Bryan has said while this KS will be a great deal with won't be quite as good as the first

This is one of the reasons they have the expansion set (and possibly sets) to manage the value they give out

(they ended up with under $50K on almost 4 million dollars last time which was very close to being a loss which would not have been desirable and have a bunch of unsalable stock in the 5 minis they have withdrawn as they don't cast right)

On the plus side they have a much better handle on the logistics, and should be able to handle fulfilment better which seems a decent trade off

Speaking of Lonnia, in the sketch art she had a really cool rapier but the sword in the mini is too big for the figure. Is this just the sad physics of molds? I've noticed a lot of concept art has really cool features that don't make it to production.

Sculptors often need to make adjustments to concept art as they sculpt to take into account the limitations of the molding process. Long thin pieces like swords are especially susceptible to this as they need to be a 2-3mm thick to mold properly. Same goes for thin sheets like dragon wings, you cant have then too thin or they won't fill right.

Yeah but against that they did get Thomas the Tank Injector. And a whole bunch of molds for future use. So it's not quite as close to the bone as it might appear.

Bryan did say it wouldnt be as good a deal as before, and that's certainly correct right now, but if they get enough $$$ we might well see an even greater value from this one unless they cap it below ~240 figures in the Core Kit.

Hard to tell from this end. We'll just have to wait and see. I'm pretty confident we'll see ~$6 million at least out of this one, and it might even go as high as $10 million on the final push. But as I said before: right now, the value is there for me.
