Bones Kickstarter #2 Discussion

Was pleasantly surprised to check the kickstarter this morning.

 

Or should I pledge for them now in hopes it will help unlock them? hmmmm

If you can, upping your pledge total now is slways preferable, because it helps hit stretch goals.

12 days to go and I already broke $400. This is gonna hurt.

Altough I've stated that I'm not adding this to my pledge until later, the fact is, I still have 83 dollars of wiggle room in my current 400 dollar pledge, which would likely cover the upcoming paints, core addon, and shipping for both. So even though I haven't dedicated the money to it in my mind yet, it IS already there for the purpose of stretchgoals. I'm just holding out for something more... monstrous.

 

On the subject of paints. Does anyone have experience with HD? Its stated purpose is for basecoating. Does it still work for shading and washes, or am I going to have to buy a bucket of MSP triads to go with it?

HD is pretty good, and plays nicely with other paints. All the usual techniques seem to work just fine.

What izzy said. There's plenty of time to drop your pledge, if what we unlock pleases you not if you wait to raise it until goals are unlocked, then you won't see what lies behind them (and if you want that more).

 

I haven't seen Buglips or Last Knight post yet after the update either here or there, better put yer ear plugs in... ;p

Last night was like Christmas morning for me... :)

And I'm quiet today because I'm working; I'm working today because I saw the update while I was snoozing my alarm and going back to sleep, and felt this odd, pressing need to get eight hours of holiday overtime, tout suite.

Well reaper sure seems to be listening I heard more calls for cavalry and for town guards than anything else.

I also approve of the fact that its in an expansion so those of us who don't want cavalry can skip it.

 

Im not sure about this expansion, that seems like alot of stretch goals before it hits its peak.

My pledge limit was set at 150$, for stuff I want and 100 for a friend's core set. So it all comes down to what do I want more:

Rats + extra lesser demons + Blightfang & 20$ TBD, or an expansion set.

of all the dragon sculpts for KS 2 I like the silver best so far

 

If it gets too tempting I can always try and renegotiate the budget... enough for 1-2 add-ons and an expansion at least

Does anyone know if the previous HD paints sets were also new colors? If so, I may have to revise my position on the paint add-ons. I went into this thing thinking I had plenty of cash to cover everything I wanted...now, not so sure!

The first set of HD paints in the Kickstarter were from the existing line.

I am slightly disappointed the Anhurians are part of CE 2, because I can't add fifty extra sets of them to my order. Sure, I can akways use more cavalry, but adding more CE 2s would break the bank pretty quickly...

 

I'll just have to wait for retail to build my Anhurian army. They'll be much more affordable in Bones than they are in metal (and their metal prices are pretty good - $14 or 15 for four).

 

Anyone care to speculate on how they'll be marketed? Individually, like Garrick or the dark orcs? In a variety pack of four, as they appear in the Kickstarter? In three packs (or more) of each individual sculpt, like the Nova Corp. troopers or pre-KS 1 orcs and skeletons?

And I didn't know I wanted a dwarf on a bear until I saw it, but now I do.

 

Probably won't find much use for the regular cavalry, but I'm not complaining! And besides, I quite like painting horses.

So...thinking about dropping to a $1 pledge to part out the core set (lots of figs we already have in metal...).

 

I haven't seen this answered: given the versatility of the pledge calculator, can we just hang on to out current pledge (for a core set), but allocate that $100 dollars differently once the project ends? Or do we have to change the reward selected on KS?

 

I assume we have to change our reward selection, given the number of people I've seen doing just that, but I wanted to make sure the question was definitively answered before deciding.
