Well, I'm excited. Those are some nice cavalry and even though I have no need for them, a dwarf on UNDER a bear is worth $50 of my money any day.

with just that small change, I'm in for the expansion as well....

Well, sounds like conversion time to me

Meh. Someone over on the Kickstarter comments said he's using the pledge manager as a popularity contest, clicking "10" for the minis he likes most and wants to see more of down to "2" for the ones he likes least.

It's not a miscommunication. He seems to know what the pledge manager is *for*. He just wants to deliberately skew things towards what he wants to see more of.

It strikes me as unethical and condescending. Surely talking to Reaper using words is a better way to communicate one's interests than gaming what is meant to be a helpful calculator.

Yeah, I mentioned something about that a little while back...

From the Kickstarter comments:

@David Scharf - it is not permanently locked until until some time after the KS ends. you can make as many changes as you like to your selections now, it does not forcibly make any changes to the actual KS pledge.

The Pledge button does take you back to the Project page here at Kickstarter.com to adjust your pledge, but you do not have to complete that change.

@David - yes and no. We're not real-time tracking the data, but when you hit recalculate, we are saving what you have selected, as a way of gauging interest. We do not see what you specifically have put in, we see that X backers selected Option A.

So far we have looked at that data once, this morning, to se what activity was like overnight. We will probably check it 2-3 times a day, and look for massive shifts.

The part I bolded in the second quote makes me think that doing a "popularity contest" wouldn't actually help. If Backer A selects 1 Mouselings set, and Backer B selects 10 Mouselings sets, Reaper may only see that 2 backers have selected Mouselings use that data to determine what we want.

I guess it's a question of if the data Reaper is collecting from the pledge manager is binary or not.

A bear and a dwarf walk into a bar ...

Aww ... man ... new paint colors ... I wasn't going to get any paint this time cus I don't want to wait a year for it again. I thought I was safe. But now ...

Wren's awesome essay as few pages back on sculpting for moulds has to be up there as one of the best off-topic posts ever.

Also, they keep misspelling calculator as claculator at the end of the updates where they provide a link to it.

So now I think of it as a Claculator, which is, in my mind, a tool specifically designed to get annoying people to waste their time on the internet in a place where they can't do any serious harm to others.

EDIT: This last comment is obvious meant to be a reference to the nuisance that Pingo is referring to above, rather than people who are using the Calculator for legitimate purposes. That guy is using the Claculator.

Well, outside of a surprise Tiamat between now and the end, this Kickstarter is everything I have wanted. It's an actual manifestation of my desires.

It's proof not only that Reaper listens to us, but that a sound argument and popular support can get things in. We really worked on Ron for those Anhurians, and it paid off. But our argument was a good one: with the orcs and skeletons already in Bones (pre-KS even), the Anhurians were a natural to be packed and sold the same way. Everybody needs generic town guards/troops/militia.

The cavalry look mighty fancy, can't wait to see what else unlocks in that expansion.

I totally didn't even notice that paint. I was reading through comments here and kept seeing paint, and I was all like: "Paint? Whatchoo talkin bout? I ain't didn't see no paint. Only horsepeople and anhurs."

Looks like a nice little range, though. Witchcraft Purple in particular.

I'll just be over here dancing around and chanting about new paint for a while.

Paint junkie! Like you don't have enough shades already? ::P: (Of course I'm right there with you, LOL)

How does one know when they have enough slightly different shades or paint in each color of the color spectrum?

When you can do the color/eyesight test with just your MSP's, you're good.
