whats with the limited # of backers?

they only have room for 6000 backers, and 4k have already pledged.

 

They are using that to split the pledges into shipping 'waves' and are opening new levels as old one fill up.

Can they add more in the middle of the drive?

if not how do wee get to a second map? the 100$ x 6000 slots seems like finite money, when ~infinite money is available

 

I guess it would cut down on headaches, and shipping space but it seems like a waste of possibility.

 

Limited slots are only for delivery waves.. when one fills up they add a new wave with later shipping

It's to divide up shipping when delivery time comes. The earlier you pledge, the earlier you get. It's a lot better than last time, should tax the team less and hold down complaints.

 

We saw a lot of complaints of "I pledged earlier, how come I have to wait?" This way makes tons of sense, and I expect there is no cap, just however many waves becomes necessary.

I'm also guessing they know where the 'too much money' line is.. like Bryan said they knew there was a point of diminishing returns after $x amount.. limited pledges can help them stop when they get that far.

I'm in for a dollar, would love the full set but customs and postage will kill it this time. So it's just a few additional extras for me this time. Mind will still be painting my current vampire pledge. I will pick up the new bones when they go on general release😞

Hello, I'm an international and I pledged (proxy through a friend) for the first Kickstarter, and I admit that the low flat shipping rate was a big factor. Now I understand that perhaps the cost of shipping was way higher than initially expected, if only because the package ended up so much bigger, but still, pun not intended... but it seems international pledgers are getting kind of boned this time around.

 

I don't know if Internationals were a big factor last time or what the average shipping cost ended up being. But I'll say that right now, I'm quite wary of pledging this time around because of the unknown cost.

 

Perhaps if a cost of (international) shipping was extrapolated from the last Bones KS event, you guys could give us an idea of what to expect for whatever region being shipped to? Like, 50 bucks to Asia and 30 to Europe, and add 5 bucks for every add on or something?

 

I'd love to get in on this, but as an International (South East Asia), I'm sorry to say this isn't quite as appealing as it was last time. Perhaps if the Core Set exceeds the last time, I might break down and do a last minute pledge, but as is, that unknown shipping thing is a killer.

 

Perhaps a stretch goal where shipping is subsidised?

 

Still, I wish you guys all the best and hope that as things progress, the pot can be sweetened to the point I can't help but pledge my support anyway.

 

I understand the concern, but I'm afraid that if I were Reaper I'd do the same thing. Even with this, they're eating the extra handling cost for international and the significant extra costs associated with the inevitable reships and customer service shipments to cover problems. I don't say that meaning to be parochial, though. I've chosen not to back projects run from outside the US for much the same reasons.
