Angel of Shadow!!

132509164629.gif

One of my all time favourite minis. I've had the metal one for ages but haven't yet plucked up the courage to even remove her from the blister. I've a couple of ideas on how I want to paint her so I can do some trials now.

Striges. Not stirges. ("Strig-ah", not "Stirj")

I know, I'm sorry, but it was driving me nuts.

Well, stirges if you're talking about the D&D monster. Strige if you're talking about the Reaper model.

Though it's interesting. The striges are tagged stirge.

And will hopefully make it into this KS.

Police box, Angels of Sorrows - going to be more squeeing.

Too late, I already saw it.

You're welcome, everyone! Glad I can be helpful! ::):

The secret to my success (or madness...) is a combination of my ability to scan information quickly, and my telling my brain to go "ding!" when my eyes spot a Reaper, Gene or Talin icon. This makes things quick and efficient, though it also tends to go "ding!" when I spot fellow forumites. Or when shenanigans are present. Can't resist good shenanigans. :lol:

Now, let's see if I can get this one in before the next update!

GrimDork 1 minute ago
Mister Reaper Man: The cargo container from expansion 3, do you know the dimensions? It looks like its something between 100-120mm x 50-60mm but its hard to tell. If Sgt forscale is a 25mm base then its probably 120 or better, which is nice.
Also, I hear there will be non terrain expansions to #3. Are we eligible for any words about what else we may see, or if it will have more terrain at all? Thanks ;)

Reaper Miniatures less than a minute ago
@Grim Dork - the prototype is not presently on hand, we sent it off to be molded. I can tell you that Sgt For Scale is on a base that is 30mm at the bottom, 25mm at the top (because of the curved bevel).
re: terrain - we have both terrain and non-terrain additions to that set planned.

Reaper Miniatures about 1 hour ago
@Adrian - let me say this about the ruins today. if you watch *very carefully* in the NEXT video update - the tomorrow one - you *might* see something.
~~~~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 1 hour ago
@Ulf - It's kind of fun being the guy that knows everything and teasing you about it, I won't lie. But at the same time, there's some things I won;t tease about because it just seems mean-spirited. Also, I much prefer the big excited joy when something cool and unexpected is revealed, compared to something we teased about and so half the people knew it was coming, in one form or another.
~~~~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 1 hour ago
For ruins gossip, you'll have to wait until tomorrow.
~~~~~~~~~~
DSMiles about 2 hours ago
@Reaper: Any hints as to when we should be watching for the video update?
Reaper Miniatures about 2 hours ago
@DSMiles - It is unlikely to be fully edited and approved in time for the next update, in just over $5k. If it looks like we're going to hit the next update tomorrow, then we'll post it alongside that update, if not, it will be an update unto itself, most likely tomorrow either way.
Coralline Algae about 2 hours ago
@ Reaper . Just wondering.. is the dungeon Decor II add-on doing ok, or just kinda tepid?
Reaper Miniatures about 2 hours ago
@Coraline - it's quite popular. Although, to be fair, the spread between the highest selected add-on and the lowest selected add-on is small. Like, the best ones are doing the completely made up number of 20,000 copies, and the worst are doing the completely made up number of 16,000 copies. Similar spread.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 2 hours ago
New video coming. I saw the rough cut while I was out.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 4 hours ago
@Coraline - Expansion 2 and the remaining Core reveals will be Fantasy related. Expansion 3 will be primarily non-fantasy.
Reaper Miniatures about 2 hours ago
I see. Well, for a given value of fantasy, there is no overt sci-fi or modern planned for Expansion 2 or Core. There may be some models that straddle a fine line.
Reaper Miniatures about 2 hours ago
for example - many would not consider the dwarf pirate from the first Kickstarter Fantasy, because he has a gun. We consider it fantasy.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 3 hours ago
@Mateus - I will do stretch goal reveals except between ~1am and 9am Central time.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 4 hours ago
Tax is the same as shipping - you do not have to include it in your Pledge now, but you will have to include it before you can lock in your pledge.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 4 hours ago
@Anat - we cannot have the calculator automatically update your pledge for you, it simply takes yo to Kickstarter where you must complete the process manually.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Craig Gjedde about 4 hours ago
@Reaper
Quick question about Narthrax -
His feet appear to be attached to the base with pegs but how is the tail doing? Will it ship with the tail glued across the front of the base or simply resting on it. Looking at the pic it appears it could go both ways. Any insight?
Reaper Miniatures about 4 hours ago
@Craig - the tail does not touch the base.
Bryan Stiltz about 6 hours ago
Kicktraq releases hourly data to creators upon request. We data-mined the heck out of it last time
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 6 hours ago
@Crimson King - we do sometimes need volunteers for reapercon, but in general we use a fairly reliable stable of non-employees that attend every year and we have become good friends with - like Shakandara and his crew.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Coralline Algae about 7 hours ago
@Reaper . We mentioned casualty figures yesterday. Is there any interest in that idea? It would be useful in a lot of gaming scenarios. It could be to specific a need but I thought I'd ask again just to test the waters.
Reaper Miniatures about 7 hours ago
@Coraline - it has been discussed, yes.
~~~~~~~~~~
Adam Waters about 8 hours ago
@Reaper
I saw you were talking about teasing the Core Expansions. What if you just do black silhouettes of the upcoming items, maybe crowd them together so that we can't tell what they are

Reaper Miniatures about 8 hours ago
@Adam - the effort which our fans will expend to decipher the clues would be... mind boggling.
~~~~~~~~~
Benjamin Kastberg Kristensen about 8 hours ago
@Frencois - actually they did the silhouette thing in KS 1 - it was rather fun
Reaper Miniatures about 8 hours ago
@Benjamin - and people went crazy trying to figure it out, and most of them did, kind of being fun and not fun at the same time
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 8 hours ago
@Pauwel - we try as much as possible to use as few boxes as possible. If we must use two boxes, we split the declared value evenly among the two boxes - 50%:50%.

Reaper Miniatures about 8 hours ago
or 33%:33%:33% for 3 boxes, etc. In our previous project we had no shipments that were more than 3 boxes to 1 backer, Except *maybe* Paul Davis ;)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anthony A about 8 hours ago
@Reaper: If you have the capacity to make weapons in slightly harder plastic (wyrmgear-wing style) I think they would sell really, really well. Somebody on your end mentioned that the current weapon packs don't sell overly well, but I think that's because it's a high buy-in price for the purpose - weapon packs cost more than single minis (especially bones). Put your weapon packs at a bonesier price point and I think you'll see drastically different output.
Reaper Miniatures about 8 hours ago
@Anthony - it has been discussed, and as an avid modeler, I personally like the idea.
Reaper Miniatures about 9 hours ago
@Mike/Christopher - the challenge there is going through our current stock and identifying the weapons that were the most successful, in terms of detail and ability to hold their shape. I am personally more of a modeler/assembler/conversion hobbyist than painter, so this is something important to me.
~~~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 8 hours ago
@Michael - we do not at this time have any additional models to be added to Expansion one
~~~~~~~~~~
Benjamin Kastberg Kristensen about 8 hours ago
@Reaper - Since your here, I would like to advocate for more Trick cards, but with larger bases - 25mm just doesn't cut it for basing most Bones from this, or the last KS.
Reaper Miniatures about 8 hours ago
@benjamin - something for RPG size "large" and/or Huge?
~~~~~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 8 hours ago
@Macelo - we had inadvertently caused some problems with the declaration the way it was, and decided that the more honest approach was better. We sincerely feel that declaring a Vampire pledge at $100 regardless of addons was valid, many customs officials did not.
~~~~~~~~~~
Mike Miller about 9 hours ago
@Reaper -
out of curiosity, and regarding gizmos, is a weapons pack in bones viable or does the material just make metal the way to go for weapons packs? I know that ideologically it doesn't really fit with the ready-for-gaming idea behind bones, but I am wondering about viability more.
Reaper Miniatures about 9 hours ago
@Mike - it's actually been discussed and is on the table as a potential stretch goal. Mind you, we have over 30 potential goals right now, and have no idea with we'll get to one more, let alone all 30. This is as unknown a kingdom for us as it is for you!
~~~~~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 9 hours ago
@Benjamin - that is our hope. People with limited budgets can use that time to make decisions about selections, and people who need more time to finance both the pledge and the shipping will have it. We recognize the high cost of international shipping - after spending 70% of our shipping dollars to ship to 30% of our backers, we *really* understand that cost, and likewise we understand the international backers who balk at it.
~~~~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 9 hours ago
@Bernard - there are more Core Goals planned. There are not any visible today, but there are 9 days to go. Hang in there, and if on the last day you feel we have not met the criteria for a reasonable value, we will bear you no malice if you leave.
~~~~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 9 hours ago
@Trey - we have studied literally hundreds of Kickstarters, and the ones that show everything early have *never* met everything. Our plan allows us to gradually reveal things in response to current trends - ie if it's slowing down, reveal smaller goals, etc. It also has the side benefit of getting a group of enthusiasts coming back for more daily, AND having something new *every day* to talk about on other websites, thus sharing our project with more people.

Daniel about 12 hours ago
Izzy, is the aquanaut group looking like dedicated underwater minis or would they be more general purpose?

Izzy "Talin" Collier about 12 hours ago
@Daniel: Not sure - I still need to sit down and talk/brainstorm with Ron, if they're going to get sketched out. I did think that it might be useful to make the heads and bodies separate, so you can have them either with or without a helmet on...
~~~~~~~~~
(time break here, since I caught up to where I was last night, then started over at the beginning)
~~~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures 11 minutes ago
@Alex3 - there;s a cut off. the minis aren't free for us either, so eventually the box would cost more than the $100 you give us to make it ($90 after KS fees). But the cap has not been reached yet.
~~~~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures 15 minutes ago
@Joshua - we're balancing Core goals in there, too, and I'm really not supposed to say which reveal is next. But there was a lot of concern that the Expansions were not worth $50, and we wanted to accelerate both of them so they had value right away. It's actually a difficult balancing act with the 4 kinds of goals now.
~~~~~~~~~~
DonTheDime 20 minutes ago
Is Deva meant to be on a 'flying base' as it looks like the bottom of her wings extend below the 'base'?

Reaper Miniatures 19 minutes ago
@Don the metal version comes on a flying base. We are sculpting a new flight stand for this version.

Dan Goodchild 29 minutes ago
I'm betting the Angels of Sorrow are one of the before & after pairs Ron was teasing about.

Reaper Miniatures 24 minutes ago
@Dan - one of. There's at least one more Before/after on the sheet.
~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures 36 minutes ago
@Daniel - there was a backer who kept adjusting their pledge to keep the number at $1,666,666. For quite a while...
~~~~~~~~
Baphomet about 1 hour ago
@Reaper - when will you be releasing Bones LTPKs?

Reaper Miniatures about 1 hour ago
@baphomet - we're working on those. a lot of work goes into a LTPK and we're trying to work out the best way to organize the end product.
~~~~~~~~~~
lol Nope, wasn't fast enough to get in before the update, ah well.
Weeping Angels of Sorrow, huzzah!! If I hadn't switched to Expansion 2 already, I would just for those. :D It would totally rock if some Time Lords Travelers showed up in that Expansion as well!
Huzzah!
Oh wow luv the angels! Core Expansion #2 is looking better and better!
Crazy. I wouldn't have guessed Angels as the next CE2 expansion. I wonder what the expansion theme will be in the end? (and how tight the CE themes will be)
Now I want to know what the next part of CE3 is!
maybe something to add to the Reaper catalogue.
I would expect if they do a Time Lord Traveler mini it would go in the Chronoscope expansion. Somebody posted a link to a REALLY passable Dr. Who-esque mini a few pages ago, when they announced the Police Box. Now that there are angels in CE#2, I expect that it's not trying to keep an overall theme other than "fantasy." The stretchgoals will be announced in groups of commonly themed minis, but each group doesn't necessarily need to be closely tied to all the others.
That way there's a more diverse "something for everybody" feel to the CE's, which hopefully yields more monies. I think it's a reasonable move. If it was all dudes on horses and Anhurians I probably wouldn't go for it. Even if it was a broad selection of different races on different species of animals, I'm still not sure I'd be interested. But a fantasy grab bag gets my attention. Especially if I get a guarantee that I won't get any sci-fi in the mix.
Not dissing on sci-fi. I'll buy my Dr. Who diorama pieces at retail. But I don't need an army of dudes with chainsaws and lazerguns mixed in with 'em.
I think it might actually be "good guys" - a bunch of knights, angels, and other typically good creatures. Maybe not 100% good... But I think the catagories will tend toward 'good' characters, at least.
At first, I was debating two sets of 2e, because it promising & I want to be able to do good and evil knights... I want at least two devas to paint, so if I have the cash, I'll probably get two now. And extra anhurians? Ngggggggh.... :wacko:
And I actually will get the E3 just for that TARDIS. I don't need armored spacemen...
Unless I do a Doctor Who-themed game, in which case they will populate my spacebase.
Think about it - shipping crates, weapons lockers, army men... that gives me plenty of fodder for a Whovian game. And Angels... So many possibilities! I need more! SO MANY IDEAS!
Any suggestions for system? I usually do fantasy in 3.5, but this might actually convince me to go sci-fi. Reaper, you sly dogs, you...
I would expect the artists to be there, showcasing their creations - both sculpts and painted models. We will have some of the new model out and avialable for in-person viewing. We will have painting for attendees, and food and Ron and myself at computers trying to manage the crazy, all while the tallies are counted on the big screens for everybody to watch! There is going to be room for board or card games, if you like, and generally just a fun day of hanging out
And as a request from us who can´t made it, please post pictures! :poke:
