Kobolds = Viet Cong.

Tunnels, traps, ambushes, harassment. A kobold campaign is like a neverending tunnel rat mission. Full of darkness. And pointy things. And jibbering in the night.

Buglips sometimes says true things. This is one of those times.

I love kobolds. I have a kobold dungeon waiting in my current campaign. I expect the players will be 16th level by the time they meet the CR 1/4 critters. And I expect a near-tpk.

And that's before the PCs get to the boss fight, which is a deranged dragon.

And the idea of using Mashaaf as a kobold sacrifice-goddess is a really good one that almost makes me add the dollars to my pledge. I'll have to think on it...hopefully they'll have a master to show us in the next few days.

but certainly better than 'goblin' level stupid.

This is also one of those times. I love kobolds more than I love goblins, but I respect and fear the goblin race as a civilization far more.

Alex3 - you heard correctly. No trading thread will be allowed as against the general rules of the board. (Nor will a thread discussing other places where a trading thread could be hosted be allowed, as people would almost certainly drift off-topic and turn it into a trading thread.) Discreet pointers and links to externally hosted trading threads are allowed in sigs, I believe.

That is because kobolds are far too smart to fall into the 'civilisation' trap. Also, kobolds have a classless society that goblinoids lack. A kobold is a kobold is a kobold. All are equal in their society. Whereas goblins have a strict caste system - ranging from the warrior orcs, to the drone hobgoblins, to the worker goblins, to Buglips. Those above stamp on those below clawing their way up. It's a short, brutal and vicious society - much like the inhabitants, really.

Kobolds, on the other hand, are a noble, refined race. They are the elves to the goblins' dwarves of the short, evil, humanoid world.

This right here...

EDIT: Ive always thought Kobolds to be more magic inclined and goblins to be failed tinkerers...

(I'm running out of ideas for battle cries -_- )

Have you used "SPOON" yet?

Then you need it's counter part "NOT IN THE FACE! NOT IN THE FACE!"

or

"LEEEEEEEEEEEEEEROYYYYYYYYYYYYY JENKINS!"

I studied the goblinoid races for my Loremaster's thesis. It isn't that goblinoids are less intelligent than kobolds. It's simply that kobolds lack the competitive infighting that helps keep goblinoid populations down. If you have ten kobolds, they will quickly determine a hierarchy based on cleverness, strength, and cunning, and will work together to achieve common goals (like killing gnomes). If you have ten goblins, they will quickly determine a hierarchy based on similar criteria, but will immediately begin attempting to subvert that hierarchy. Even if it's in a goblin's best interests to work together, it will still look for ways to sabotage those higher up in the hierarchy, while stomping down those lower. Orcs and bugbears behave similarly, except that rather than use clever schemes, they mostly bash on each other with fists, sticks, and rocks. Hobgoblins fare somewhat better at first glance, but while they will outwardly respect the chain of command, they'll still look for ways to make their rivals fail to gaina competitive advantage (to the cost of their band).

Perhaps some battle cries from Discworld?

Traditional dwarfish battle cry:
T'dr'duzk b'hazg t't
"Today is a good day for someone else to die."

From Sourcery:
And then Nijel uttered the battle cry that Rincewind would never quite forget to the end of his life. "Erm," he said, "excuse me..."

I'm standing right here, you know.

I'm starting to think I'm just the token tangerine friend.
