Bones Kickstarter #2 Discussion

They did mention the non-videogame part in the next sentence. I think they just failed to specify that up front.

And for all we were complaining about today being slow, we still made $46K and ended just over $10K from the next goal. I bet we'll even achieve it overnight!

I'd love to make $46k in one day.

The following is Important enough that I also put it here outside of the spoiler box:

OH! _I Should mention that locals who will come to the Reaper shop to pick up their stuff (last time there were about 30 out of 18,000, but If you're listening) should please pledge the last possible wave - we will allow you to pick up in person at any time. Shipping wave is for us to help plan postage and freight only, locals need not worry.

~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanks for pointing this one out.
Looks like I should go give up my 3rd Wave. Anyone want to try and time it so they can maybe grab it up? I will hold off until later since I need to hit the sack.
I'm really pleased with where the KS is right now, and and thankful for the steadier growth of the past couple weeks...as compared to the explosion of growth the first few days. I have a feeling that the last few days are going to be crazy (much like the start) and that the Reaper peeps will tweek the campaign to encourage our insanity of pledging. I'm kind of waiting with baited breath at this point.
Just did a quick total using the pledge manager (which btw is a fantastic option, thank you). I ended with 91 dollars for what I want for sure. I might add more but its looking like I'll be way lower then my previous pledge (250+).
Just not as much stuff I'm interested this time around or I have 90 percent in metal already.
I can't say that I've had an overabundance of minis in metal that have showed up as Bones, but enough that I noticed. It hasn't deterred me from wanting them in Bones b/c I can paint them in a different scheme, use them in a diorama, or let my son practice on them as he grows up. I could even let my friends have them to practice painting with! The deal is just too good for me to pass up.
Agreed. It gave me time to settle in and get to know this kickstarter a little. How it's different from the last one. How cool the new stuff is. How I'm ever going to paint all of it... ::P:
"it's too early to say I would have been wrong. If this goes to ... ah, let's say 3.5 million, obviously all the people who said Reaper should have done things differently are wrong ... if it does not reach 3.5 million ... well ..."
The implication that under $2.5M means we did it wrong is interesting. We are to date the ONLY Company to raise more then $5M on two projects. We are to date the only company to have 2 projects Both top $2 Mil. Our first project set a record for being the highest funded non-video game in the Games category, and this project is the Second Highest Funded non-video game in the Games Category.
Inaccuracies highlighted. They're omitting that whole "non-videogame" part. I read a news article that did the same.
Inaccuracies of inaccuracies highlighted.
I agree, a lot of it I own already, how many skeletons and zombies do you need when you have a hundred laying in a box already. Reaper can get lots of my money if they split their expansions but if they don't I too will pledge far less than what I did in KS one. Funnily enough I'm in a better financial position now, there just isn't much to peak my interest. I want about 1/3rd of expansion 1 and 2 and nothing in expansion 3; so I can't justify the $50.
And for everyone telling me just to wait for retail, that's fine, but be aware I haven't bought a Reaper mini in 5 years outside the KS so reaper is much more likely to get my money now as a one off than expecting me to buy it retail. I just don't need reaper minis these days for gaming so I don't buy them. The KS is a deal too good to pass up so I am stockpiling in case I get back into gaming that might use Reaper type minis in the future.
Saturday it will be harsh for me too. I will be with my son (he´s a boy scout) and we don´t have a reliable internet connection in there. We´ll be back an hour or so before it ends.
I guess I´ll pledge a thousand dollars ahead and hope it is enough...
spiritual_exorcist, the KS exists to fund new moulds, not to move the maximum possible product. I see what you're saying, but you're looking at it wrong; once in retail, the goal is to move product. But in the KS the goal is to get as much machining as possible paid for.
That doesn't necessarily equate to getting the maximum possible total pledges by any means necessary, it means optimising to control costs and prevent blow-outs. Risk management is much more important in any case than maximising throughput, either of product or pledges.
They say "non-videogame" relative to their placement on the top 10, but those claims to being the only company to reach 5 mil, and the only company to have 2 projects over 2 mil, clearly read ONLY company. The proximity to the other correct sentence doesn't negate the incorrectness of the first.
But I can see that I've opened a can of worms, here. I'm not trying to be pissy, or call down Reaper, or whoever's responsible for the quote. As a backer of Torment, (And a pre-orderer of Wasteland - I just got into this kickstarter thing a few months ago) I just wanted to see credit given where it was due, and see if anyone could correct my understanding of the quote. From what I can tell, in the interest of brevity, they simply misspoke.
On another subject, it looks like we'll hit that stretchgoal right at 9. So we should get an update pretty quickly.
My money's still on simultaneous blue and magenta reveals.
