Now I want a regular not-displacer beast AND a smokey translucent one.

I don't see the point of making translucent minis since they need to be painted...

 

You can't light up a non-translucent mini. You can't see through a non-translucent gelatinous cube. Not everyone will paint their translucents; a translucent colored figure is close to painted for them than they might otherwise get.

 

And you can still prime a translucent mini, and paint over it if that doesn't work for you.

I don't really like the tentacles (they kind of remind me the Day of The Tentacles game from Lucasarts), also I don't see the point of making translucent minis since they need to be painted...

 

Guess I'll wait and see what other minis will be unlocked and then decide whether removing this expansion from my pledge or not.

 

They need to be painted, but they do not need to be painted solidly. you can use only washes and glazes to preserve translucency in parts to either get a smokey effect, or a light piping effect, or if you get really ambitious, an LED in the base does really interesting things.

Boy some of the KS Commentors are really angry about a lack of Core additions. I'm fairly sure that somewhere sometime Reaper made it clear that core would continue but would slow as the volume mounted or they would end up losing money. I guess a lot of people are just bad at math.

What I don't really understand, and I guess it's just a mindset difference, are the people who seem to be actively angry at Reaper for the Kickstarter. If you don't like it don't back it.

 

I'm glad they have started adding more translucent minis. I hope we see more of this kind of thing going forward. If we can't have Bryanzilla I guess we can at least have other cool stuff.

I think it is more the 'I want MORE for FREE' entitlement attitude. I see it in my job every dang day. And most people couldn't care less if Reaper makes or loses money - as long as they get theirs first. I saw only yesterday an exchange on the KS comments be-moaning the fact Reaper is trying to make a profit off of this I mean you can't even argue with that level of stupid.

Look, Bryan once said that we must have patience towards the "haters", they, who complain, are expressing their strong opinion just because they are excited about the KS.

 

Sure they don't have to be angry, sure they don't have to be abusive, but possibly they don't know better and didn't receive the same education we did.

 

I like to go through the commentaries looking for some good stuff, hints and talks with the artists and reaper's representatives.

If I am looking for reasonably and passionated people (who has courtesy and education) I came here.

I think some complainers have the wrong mindset. Reaper could've had one giant Core set for $250 that included all the stuff in core+expansions. (which would've got just as many complaints, if not more). But they didn't. They gave us the option of breaking that giant set into smaller pieces. And they're adding stuff to each of those smaller pieces in a fair way. When you look at it this way, its a pretty nice thing for them to do.

I'm indifferent over the last addition to Expansion 2, it's not something that I want and really, it means the whole Expansion isn't worth it for me, since I don't see Reaper being able to raise the funds to complete either of CE2 or 3. As we enter the final stretches, it's not ending with the bang that the 1st one did. The first KS was already ramping up quite significantly at this point (pulling 250k/day), and kicktraq doesn't indicate the same level of growth here.

 

I expect the larger gaps between goals are stifling growth, as the next unlock is +$150k and the following one is +$132k. At the current rate, Maashaaf will be the last unlock. However, we'll probably get a bump in the last day, and may unlock the shadow beasts as well, which still leaves massive gaps in both CE2 and CE3.

 

I will likely pull support for CE2 if it doesn't complete, which is very likely (unless we reach [i'm guessing] $4M somehow). The alternative is that something magical happens to both CE's to make them worth the money.
