Bones Kickstarter #2 Discussion

Recommended Posts

I'm actively spamming my twitter and facebook followers, about 2-3 posts per day hawking this KS. I want more rewards to hit, I'm doing my part. I also dropped a mention of it over on Ars Technica (I'm an active forum member there); hoping to get a few more folks coming over to check it out.

So I realized something a while ago - this Sophie is actually clever psychological warfare!

It sounds like madness, to think that there might exist souls who have yet to see the light of Bonesium. Foul and shuttered, they dwell amongst teetering stacks of wretched, heavy, fragile pewter, guarding their whitemetal hoards.

But... they too cannot resist the Sophie's siren call! So they will hiss, and they will pale, but they will allow this lithe white succubus amongst them, swearing fell vows - that she will be the only; that they will buy no others.

These are lies, my friends. Lies! For we have seen this before, in Brother Buglips and a dozen others, and we know that it is false - once one has smelled the sweet scent of pale plastic, seen it's cleanness, felt it's gentle yield, one cannot turn away. They will return. "For a dragon." They will say. "Only a few mooks." They will say.

Lies. They are already ours, then. We have already claimed them...

I have missed creative writing. My god, I have missed it. My first love, my only... It's been a long time. All these PbP are fun... but I need to get back to FF.net.

As a Reaper noob, what is the deal with Sophie, is this a mascot or based on a actual person at reaper?

p.s. My "Warlord Second Edition" book just arrived today so more Warlord minis that fit in that books factions would be much enjoyed.

Introductions are in order: Sophie(s).

Thats not even all of them....There is this one thats OOP that I wish reaper could bring back...I'll have to see if I can find a pic

Yea, none of the convention sophies are pictured there except for the resin one (which also had a metal counterpart).

the Lesser Fire Elemental from the first Kickstarter is noticably more flexible than the rest of the translucent red sculpts. Probably because of her wings & the need to remove her from the mold in one peice.

The lesser fire elemental is not one piece. Oh, yeah, she was one piece when you got her in your box 'o Bones, but her wings are separate. ::):

Than they crank out a prototype in a day? That big worm thing when from art to model photo in about 24 hours.

Potentially, it depends on the sculptor and what they are asked to do. I wouldn't expect Bobbie to turn out the green for Sophie in 24 hours, but potentially by Saturday.

It also depends on how long they've had the concept art in-hand; they may have had it for a week or more and the sculptor already hard at work.

I'm kind of surprised they went with a Bones Sophie, given her status as their go-to subject for exclusive miniatures. Still, an armored succubus is sweet and pretty rare, so I'm sure she can be used for a variety of gaming situations.

Still, I think I'm extremely wow'd by Mashaaf. The concept art was sweet, but the figure itself looks amazing(ly nasty)!

Ok. I have to have Mashaaf. Just so monstrously awful and terrifying. And at the sametime I am sad knowing that she won't come to the table in my family adventure. She would send my youngest girl physically fleeing to her room to hide. And it would be months before I could get her to comeback to the table. But one day, I will DM a game where she will rattle the bones of tiny heroes, and players will mourn the deaths of a beloved adventurers. Yes I say...... one day...

MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA

there aren't many figures that make me want to cackle meniackly, butthis one does.

I wouldn't mind seeing them do a new paint case. Something like the current one but either larger or deeper so I can get rid of one or more of my carrying cases.

Hell, I have three cases dedicated to paints. An ArtBox, my old GW Gray Box, and a tacklebox.

Because of the way the store works, the search feature will not show you models that are not available for sale. However, if you go here:

http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/SpecialEditionFigures/sku-down

You will see all the special edition figures that are no longer in production, including all the OOP Sophies (well, ok, there is at least one that isn't there; the UL version of the 2010 Convention Sophie).

There is nothing that says they won't do a metal version as well.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't anxious about a few more Mousling unlocks, but Teh Reaps done did me a good early in the campaign, so I can't really complain. Suggest, however, I can do. More Mouslings. Always. Also, hecka nice policing, LS and RB. The maturity and niceness around these parts keeps these parts valuable, and it's good to see those qualities preserved with a sternity. I think I just made up 5 words.

True, they may well do a metal version of the Bones Sophie sometime after the KS. I'm just surprised that they made a Bones version at all. :;):

I am hoping the sophie model ends up something that fits the feel of gameplay miniatures. It would be a cool character to add to an RPG or wargame proxy, with her wings, she'd make a cool Legion Everblight warcaster or solo for Hordes. A lot of the other sophies I see seem too posed and pin-up style, more like ornaments for someones desk.

      Another one bites the dust….😆

One of my favorite sculpt…but in the old Bones plastic. I put a little extra into the base, otherwise it was a pretty straight forward zen of Bones quick paint job. Overall I like the scheme and it has given me ideas for when I paint my metal version. Not sure about the green face and the blue glow under the rib cage is too subtle.

And as an aside …..the quality of Testors Dullcoat is not nearly as good as it was a decade ago. The newer formulation continues to give me a semi gloss finish.  Oh well.

Hello everyone, I'm currently working on an Ogre gang and completed the painting on this model last night. This is a 77455, Ogre Smasher sculpted by Bobby Jackson. I swapped the top of its club with that of the 77454, Ogre Clubber. I also added three more skulls at his waist belt. it was all painted with Reaper MSP paint. I will complete the base later since I may add more elements to it.

Just a random assortment of the first painted from Bones V.  I sort of cheated...my Kickstarter arrived yesterday but I borrowed these in advance from a friend who got theirs earlier.
