Thanks so much for the digests, OneBoot.

Can I suggest a battle cry? It's from a long-ago game (I'm blanking on the system, but it was very much *not* D&D -- possibly Runequest?). We had a PC who was a devotee of a particularly violent war god who fell in love with an NPC who was a devotee of one of those gentle spring goddesses.

After a certain amount of struggle to find some way to acceptably meld these viewpoints, he came up with the battle cry:

"Kill! Kill! Blood makes the flowers grow!"

She was charmed.

That is really close to what we had to yell repeatedly during basic training:

"Blood blood blood makes the green grass grow!

Guts guts guts make the green grass green!"

Some portions of the Army's psychological conditioning program are less than subtle, lol!

Not necessarily ineffective, though. I killed thousands of imaginary people EVERY DAY while I was still in the Artillery. Now I'm an engineer and I jiggle electrons back and forth.

So, Ixminis (pronounced I X Minis), aka MichaelG painted the prototype of the Orcus mini, and posted to Something Awful.

Now, this is before they decided to go with bigger wings (hence the paper cutouts on the KS page), but this should give a good idea of what he looks like.

Okay, can somebody explain why there seem to be so many people complaining about the Sophie in comments? What point do they feel they have, exactly?

Just leave them to it, I've felt so much saner since I stopped trying to understand half the complaints about kickstarers.

And that's why I considered it "psychological conditioning" rather than "brainwashing". I was a school counselor for 4 years before I enlisted (long story) and taught Social Psychology at the local college and NOTHING they did in basic was random. All of it was deliberate conditioning aimed at helping us survive and win. It was a fascinating experience if you knew what they were up to while everyone else was thinking "?????" BTW I also made the transition to engineer after the service.

OneBoot - I love the summaries! And the battle cries! No way I could psychologically survive the kickstarter comments, regardless of previous conditioning, lol! Too rough for this troop;). I appreciate you passing on all the tidbits and letting me keep my excitement for this kickstarter unsullied!
