My gosh Oneboot, you didn't have to do all that legwork for me! Thank you! Also, 4mm will do it. I'll have to count my minis and order accordingly. It'll probably be 3-4 bags of small bases, and maybe a couple medium. And IF we get large... well, I'll have to count then.

You are most welcome! It was my inner librarian, she wouldn't rest until I gathered the information for you. ::):

Thanks klarg!! I'll send a message to Sabith with the information to make sure he sees it. :)

Huzzah!

That what we're here for, Ma'am.

SO. MUCH. WIN.

They did over 1 million in the last days... While it does seem slow, it is faster than the first one at the same time....

Well, that depends on whether you count days since the start, or days before the finish, but I agree that we're doing OK.

So. I wasn't in on KS1, so I don't have a lot of experience with the endings of these things... But I can't help feeling concerned. 68hrs left and it feels like it's moving at a pretty glacial pace. Pledges are really going to have to come in fast and furious if we're going to hit any of the more optimistic targets...

Well it's glacial if we're talking about the rate of reveals.

But pledgewise, we've beaten yesterday's amount and have the fourth best day including the initial three day rush.

So in a way, we're picking up steam!

For Bryanzilla (to counter the trolls):
.
Sing to Judas Priest Let Us Prey/Call for the Priest

.
.
Well, the pressure's too much, you know ks peaked last night
I gotta get some a quick release
Whiners standing on my shoulders
My body's going piece by piece
Ooh...!

Yes I know what I want and I know where to get it
And I'm pledging Bones right away
This is one mini I don't have to fall on
Down to my knees and pay
Ooh...!

When your back's to the wall come along one and all
We shall fight all the slander that's penned
It's Bones we shall choose let the bigoted lose
For our triumph's the means to their end

With you by my side I shall ride every storm

Let the cynics drop dead in their critical head
They're wrist merchants as we all can see
Bunch of deaf ears with their skeptical fears
What a shame, what a shame, oh dear me!
Ooh...!

Ooo, we actually have piles of them (dead) all over. They get hit by cars a lot, so I might actually be able to do this... and in the fall, they die off anyways, so you can go down to the salt marsh and pull them off the salt grass where they lay their ooetheka. What sort of resin would you suggest?

Note: Only dead ones, mind you! I may occasionally suggest the faxing of hedgehogs, and that is my cat in a toilet, but I'm not an animal abuser, I promise! ::(:

Why not just make a rubber mold? (of course with several in that mold for different shapes)

And we're getting awfully close to beating even Day 3. I'm starting to get reeeeeal excited. (Also, since I didn't see any mention of it yet: the time remaining is now being measured in hours!)

So by my count, you'd need 214 Small Bases, 45 Medium Bases, and 14 Large Bases (Once again, assuming they are brought into existence) to base everything but the decor. There are a lot of guesses on the appropriate base for each model, and I can't guarantee that I didn't miscount, and that number actually includes about a few extras, because I'm not sure how to base the bugbears, small or medium (D&D monster manual says small, practicality says medium)

So there ya go... that's another 60 bucks or so to add to the pledge.

All ReaperBryan this time! Some important information regarding the Expansions in here, as well as Bryan having to come down hard on someone (Note: I did NOT include the exchange to start arguments here about value, etc. It was for informational purposes ONLY.) Also of importance is that Mrs. ReaperBryan is down with the flu, so Bryan is taking care of her it sounds like.

BY THE POWER OF GRAYSKULL!!!!!

Hey - if you haven't, please check this video out. It;s some of us repsonsible for the KS:

~~~~~~~~
Danniel Sims less than a minute ago
@Bryan: What's the cycle time on a single injection? I assuming they're injection molded. So, time from pour to parts for an average mold. (I use to work in a rubber injection mold factory for auto parts)
Bryan Stiltz 5 minutes ago
@Danniel simms - 15 seconds to1 minute, depending on size (and thus cooling time) For comparison, a metal mini cycles for 45 seconds.
~~~~~~~~
Bryan Stiltz less than a minute ago
@Brian Urgo unless something radically changes, I do not expect to add CAV to the core for this project.
~~~~~~~~
Baphomet 4 minutes ago
@Bryan - serious answer please. I made a post earlier about getting back into the groove of painting 28mm. I want to start with LTPKs again for practice.
Please, some word on either restocks of original LTPKs or Bones LTPKs. I need/want them SOON
Bryan Stiltz 2 minutes ago
@baph - no kidding, the problem is brushes. Apparently Sable fur import laws changed, and 2 of the 3 variety of brushes we stock are sable fur, so our sources have been having problems fulfilling our orders, but we are looking at alternatives.
David Sweeten 4 minutes ago
@Bryan - The discussion of how the molding is done is intriguing. Any chance of future web videos walking through the process?
Bryan Stiltz 3 minutes ago
@David - we don't do the manufacturing of the molds in house, but maybe a video update of Thomas cranking out Bases and the Bones, sure?
~~~~~~~
Mark Graybill 12 minutes ago
@Bryan: will this Kickstarter be helping expand production at Reaper's own facilities? Will Thomas be getting friends to assist him?

Bryan Stiltz 6 minutes ago
@Mark Graybill, Yes. Some of the funds are earmarked for new modls with made in the USA and so on.
~~~~~~~
Bryan Stiltz 12 minutes ago
Sprues are'n effective over a certain size, because every mini is technically on a big sprue. It;s the little things that we can squeeze more of by spruing.
~~~~~~~
OneBoot 19 minutes ago
@Bryan - Paint question for you. Will the HD Umber Brown in the KS be a replacement for the "pure umber" color that Reaper used to carry? I'm trying to have all of the "base" paints that are used to mix all of the other MSP, and I'm only missing an umber.

Bryan Stiltz 18 minutes ago
@Oneboot - not likely an exact match. You;d really have to ask Anne that. email me and I;ll get her to answer it. [email protected]

Darsc Zacal 19 minutes ago
@Bryan. Were the pieces for Kaladrax on a single mold? Or on multiple ones?

Bryan Stiltz 18 minutes ago
@Darsc - 4 molds, I *think*

Darsc Zacal 14 minutes ago
@Bryan. Sooo... Do you forsee any other 4 mold minis coming out over the next few days?
;)

Bryan Stiltz 13 minutes ago
@Darsc - Bigger.

Bryan Stiltz 11 minutes ago
Expansions - We had originally planned them as 3 reveals each, with X minis per reveal. Last week, to compensate for the slight slowdown in pledges (not much, mind you, it was only a fraction under average) we cut the $$ for each goal in half, and the minis for each reveal in half - making the same set now 6 goals, but shorter gaps. Well, we're running out of time - so instead of 6 short gaps, we're lumping them back together, and releasing the same sets we had planned as only a few more reveals. Nothing has changed except the manner of presentation, and we modified a mold presentation (how we stack the models on a mold for the engineers to cut) to save some money and trimmed about $50k off the price needed for each.

Ryan Alcorn 9 minutes ago
@Bryan If you could elaborate, I'm interested to hear about this model stacking for mold efficiency, I don't understand how that works

Bryan Stiltz 3 minutes ago
@Ryan Alcorn - one example - Pre-KS 1 we did some goblins. They were going to cost us the same per goblin as a regular character. MSRP $2 each, roughly. Well, this wasn't going to cut it.
So, we came back, sprued the goblins together, and the kobolds and rats. Now we could get all "9" models on one mold, (to them it was now 3 models, you see?) instead of only 6 per mold. Now we could run 9 models at once, and since half the cost is time - the cheaper figures are the ones that have more per mold, you see? anyway, it;s how we do Goblins at 6/$3.50 instead of $2 per.

Bryan Stiltz 1 minute ago
Now, we can't sprue everything together, it doesn't really work that way. But some things can be sprued, and a few minutes with our moldmakers and their engineers, and we managed to trim a few molds out of the process total. Passing that down by lowing an upcoming (unshown) goal or two.

AttackAttackAttack! 24 minutes ago
so Bryan, are you confirming that the core is mostly set? as in not much more growth? I was expecting 200ish figs, 150ish is also good, but it doesn't drive me to want to get it in multiples. I can only speak for myself though!

Bryan Stiltz 20 minutes ago
@Attack^3 - there's more, but it's not 100 more.

Jeff Khoury 36 minutes ago
I am glad that they are cutting back the reveals on the expansions. The switch from 3 stretch goals for the complete first expansion to 6 each for two concurrently running expansions really soured folks, as well as doing serious and irreparable harm to the momentum of this project. While trying to get all of these unlocks for expansions, there has been exactly one full (non-trick) unlock for the core in the past millions dollars, without the next one even in sight. KS 1 was lousy with core unlocks during that same funding period.
The core is how you draw in backers. You make the deal just too darn good to ignore. Then, when you hook em, you get them with the add-ons. The problem is that while this core is great, the core for Bones 1 was PHENOMENAL. With all the add-on this, expansion that, and add-on to the expansion those going on, they just ignored the core. Remember, this KS started out gangbusters, and has just been flat ever since. With better core support, they could have ridden that momentum to ridiculous heights. I think Reaper just looked at the success at the tail end of KS1 and just assumed it would be the same, without really appreciating why there was a mad scramble to pledge.
It was because the core of KS 1 was just too good to pass up, and once people were in for the core, they were happy to add more. This KS needs more core support, and it needs it now if they want to build up crazy momentum again. Right now, the tail end of this project is trending way behind the tail end of KS 1 (despite everyone who says so being called a troll) and I'm pretty sure Reaper knows it.

Bryan Stiltz 32 minutes ago
@Jeff Khoury - interesting analysis. We respectfully disagree.
This Core set represents the same monetary value - if you measure value only in terms of quantity, then we welcome you to fond another way to get 150+ models for $100. Otherwise, we are offering $500 MSRP of models for $100, JUST LIKE LAST TIME.
Thank you for telling me what we assumed and didn't, and please do not put words in my mouth.

Bryan Stiltz 31 minutes ago
I should also add that at 68 hours to go last time we still had not even raised @ million... so your math and premise are already flawed.
~~~~~~~~~~
Bryan Stiltz 24 minutes ago
Ok - If people re done telling us how we have failed at Kickstarter and that 150+ minis does not in fact represent a good value... \
Seriously - if all you want to do is tell us that this @2.25 Million dollar project is a miserable failure, please go tell [email protected] (the CEO) that I was mean to you and you'll never back us again etc.
You guys wanted to see Bryanzilla... Here I am.
~~~~~~~
Bryan Stiltz 9 minutes ago
So a Bryanzilla mini, huh? I'll talk to Ron...
~~~~~~~~
Cleanthes about 3 hours ago
I'm a bit worried that if more Core Expansion reveals don't get unlocked, some pledgers will back out of those close to the end since they're just not as good a value if they're not complete. I wonder if it wouldn't be wiser to accelerate those reveals? I won't tell if you won't....
Bryan Stiltz about 2 hours ago
@cleanthes - value is note assured only in qty. the value in MSRP savings is already equivalent and only going to get better.
~~~~~~~~~~
grinspy about 3 hours ago
Bryan, what do you think the reason is for the reduced number of backers this go around? Or are you guys still hopeful for 4k more people to get on board in the next 70 hours?

Bryan Stiltz about 3 hours ago
@grinspy - disillusioned internationals. We will regain a surge but probably not all of them. And that's ok too. We don't need to beat last time to be happy. Heck, we're pretty darn happy now- just have a few more things we desperately want to push out.
~~~~~~~~~
Michael Tighe about 3 hours ago
Will we get a new reveal after the worm monster? They stayed their goal was to eventually show only one stretch goal.
Bryan Stiltz about 3 hours ago
@michael tighe- there will be a new reveal until both expansions are full. We are accelerating their reveals into fewer than 6 parts but all the same figures as before also.
~~~~~~~~

Putting the puzzle pieces together, my guess is that we're going to see a Core Expansion as the next unlockable. :)

This kind of thinking is very appealing to me, but having never based any minis, I think I'll just get the default packs and see how I feel after I've done a few. I really like the magnet ideas that you and others have been mentioning too. I mean, magnets are cool!

I hope she is ok and he stays well too. I have not gotten my shots or one for my daughter yet. Would hate to have a nasty flu bug flying around on Saturday.

Just thinking about it will probably give me the flu....I sorta have an issue when it comes others around me being or just saying they are sick.

Forgot to mention I'm signing out for the evening to spend time with Husband. :)

I also won't be back on until sometime tomorrow afternoon, since I actually have work for tomorrow! So either y'all will have to wait until then for the next digest, or someone else will have to pick up the baton until then. ^_^

I've already pledged for the #2 expansion; if for whatever reason it fails to be filled, I won't be backing down my pledge; I'll just be re-allocating those funds elsewhere. That being said, I'll definitely be buying it if the purple translucents open up; because those freaking rock, and I need a shadow demon, like seriously. If the purps don't pop, I'll reallocate the funds elsewhere (more demons? Another GC? A couple of the water elemental sets? I don't know, the sky really is the limit, well, that or $50 for the expansion, whichever comes first ;))

I'm thrilled with what we're getting so far, this core is IMNSHO better than the Vampire core, and the add ons are super, super shiny. I've pledged my money, and what I've pledged is what's coming to Reaper for this; the question just remains what I'm gonna end up getting back.

Thats what I did. I thought ok whats the max I can spend....then add $100 to that and just go all in. Then when it comes to making choice allocate my money to what best benefits me. I try to explain this to people who whin about (oh expos are not a good value blah blah blah) They dont effin listen.
