Bones Kickstarter #2 Discussion

The greys are not Mars Attacks. They're not blowing off Mantic. It's silly to say they are.

As for complaints: my two bits: watch everything Reaper does, and take notes, because they are very, very good at what they do. If you ever aspire to do anything in the industry, imitate them.

true, and as buglips mentioned for all we know they were finalized way back when (even with the goal restructure at the same time). if reaper really wanted to burn mantic i guess they could've done some alien overlords from chronoscope...

still, i have learned that when something seems to be a convenient coincidence in business it is almost never actually a coincidence. it is usually shrewdly calculated.

No adding them when you have a KS based on aliens and flying saucers where some are in it for those rather the MA universe. I feel that they have plenty of other things under their belt and as a backer of MA the selves they would think, our friends are running a Aliens invasion theme we'll leave these out and go for other sci-fi........it's not like they were being demanded for.

You obviously disagree with me and I disagree with you......that democracy

Not only that, Reaper has featured competing kickstarters on the very front page of their site. There isn't anybody else in the business who's that generous.

I disagree with the insinuation that it's underhanded, when literally every action Reaper has taken with Kickstarter suggests the extreme opposite. Yes, you are entitled to your opinion. I am also entitled to explain why it is wrong. Edited by ladystorm

Armoured, bubble helmeted, brain-in-a-jar retro 50's hollywood evil spacemen from a blatantly silly and hilarious spoof franchise, versus naked, late-90's X-Files era Greys. I just don't see them as competing products. I don't see them as similar products.

I can see it being connected, as far as "Oh, hey, people want aliens, we have some of those" but if you're really implying this was calculated to steal Mantic's thunder or hurt them in some way? It would be the lamest, limpest, most tear-jerkingly pitiable attempt at a backstab in the history of backstabs.

Call me a fanboy, but I tend to think if Reaper were going to mess with someone, they'd do a better job.

I'm not getting into an argument over this...on a pedantic note you can only give me your opinion on why you feel its wrong.

@buglips - not disputing it, but nobodies whiter than white.

I don't even know what that's supposed to mean. But the bottom line is that Reaper has bent over backwards, and gone above and beyond, to show support to other kickstarters within the kickstarter and miniature community. Period. That is indisputable, because reams of evidence are to hand to prove it.

Therefore, any insinuation that they are using dirty tactics is wholly, completely wrong.

There are 31 pages in this forum. How many of those are threads for Reaper, and how many for competing kickstarters?

Explain to me how this forum, which generates huge amounts of publicity and income for other projects, benefits Reaper financially.

Then explain how this could possibly, in any way, add up to them pulling a nefarious trick. It doesn't add up. It's just not how they roll.

What, materially, does Reaper stand to gain, and how is that gain enhanced by hurting Mantic? Can you explain how it hurts Mantic, at all? Because my argument is thus: 1. It does not hurt Mantic. 2. There is no material benefit to hurting Mantic. therefore 3. It would be the action of a malicious idiot. We have no evidence Reaper are malicious, and ample evidence they are not idiots.

If you want to appeal to Darwin you must demonstrate some gain in survival terms from the action in question.

Buglips is supplying more than that, reasoning and evidence.

"I think reaper does/does not do that"

is totally trumphed by

"I don't think they do that, due to these reasons"

Everyone is entitled to opinion. If opinion can't really be backed by evidence (and is a pretty bad accusation) then opinion is not entitled to be believed ;)

(I may or may not have been reading way too much sceptics blogs lately).

Edit: no intention to start an agument. *says whatever goat says*. What is that? Hakkihakkihakkiho?
