Keep in mind, I'm never going to buy another Reaper mini retail ever again. If Reaper wants my money this is their chance to get it. I have at least 1000 Reaper minis (mostly metal) in the garage, they've gotten all the cash I can justify spending at MSRP. I have all I ever really need, but I can't resist supporting them in what I think is a great project, especially when they are offering me such a great deal. I merely wish things were more flexible.

I don't see anyone interested in expansion 1 not getting it if it were split into add on parts as well as the bundle, I do see lots of people who weren't otherwise interested increasing their backing if things were offered as parts. Just my opinion.

I do get where you are coming from. It is all about the future for Reaper. I think they have and continue to do an excellent job, and will always be positive influence on the gaming and painting communities.

I also get that the split is highly unlikely to happen, so I'm not going to keep bemoaning it. But I have several hundred dollars I can still throw at this kickstarter and I feel like I've not got anything of interest to drop that money on, so it will stay in my account. Not to say that I'm not already down got a good chunk of cash already, because I am.

Hmm. The greys are pretty cool but right now all I actually have a need for out of set #3 is the Bathalians. I think that for now I'm moving the money I was tentatively allocating toward #3 to some other things and just pick up Bathalians at retail. Depending on the last unlock for #3 I may add it back but for now that money is better spent in addons for me.

Edit to add: What I'm really hoping for in the last stretch for #3 is that the Bathalians get filled out. I could use the Hound of Tindalos and the Drone in Bones for sure. Barring that, if a good mix of the other Chronoscope aliens get thrown in it might be enough to make #3 worth it for me. At any rate, I'm not saying #3 is a bad option as it stands, just that right now there are other options that work better for me.

The Expansions are a good idea. But if I don't want that bundle Reaper could still benefit from my money by letting me pay I higher price per individual model and in doing so getting to pick and choose. Logistically more difficult, yes, but I'd pay a premium for it.

so buy them at retail then. win-win.

good price, for you and reaper, and you get exactly what you want and nothing else.

Which is what I may be doing with the sci-fi terrain from expansion 3. Not diggin' the grays, but I'm not sure what the next fuschia unlock is, either. I'll have to wait and see if expansion 3 will be worth $50 to me, or if that $50 will go towards MOAR SOPHIES.

Some cool things to do with this KS minis, mostly after the KS is fufilled.

(Docotor Who fans) Police box and the sad angels, get multiple of the angels and make those scary statues that move when you arent looking. Or don't get the police box, scary angel statues are so scary!

Get the saucer and greys and have a fun little diversion D&D game where aliens are scouting the players world, pew pew lasers and fireballs!

Tentacles, buy a bunch and throw in with your favorite fancy ramen noodles, no wait I mean throw at the players. Not the ramen, eat the ramen, its the fancy kind, not that cheap stuff!

Side note:

Personally I am not happy with the Pathfinder Bones versions, after seeing the KS 1 minis I decided to get some of them in metal instead. I went through and made a list of the coolest looking metal minis I don't have and will just onesy/twosy them. I have a ton of fender washers to use as bases as well. I am spending about $50 to get the minis (mostly monsters) out of the core set, and will use that other $50 towards my Reaper Christmas purchase when I get some Pathfinder and Werner Klocke minis. ( I like bones for medium and larger minis, exept of course small things like kobolds and goblins, but metal for important humanoids.)

Love the gray aliens. It settles things for me on the Mars Attack KS now. All I can hope for is that they offer the individual levels as add ons. I'm fine buying multiple of Expansion 3 (all the stuff works well with more than one) but the other sets have a mix of unique models and "rank and file" types.

I could see getting multiple of Expansion 3, totally.

Personall I wish to get individual items from the Expansions, mostly because Expansion 1 has maybe 6 things I want. I can understand the logistical nigthmare this would create for Reaper however having to hunt and find different minis for each backer.

Cool! Aliens! I didn't think I'd wake up to a new stretch goal update!

I am happy Bryan, with verve, pointed out the obvious that was getting obscured by lots of comments:

1) The core set is great value, equivalent to the first one. Just in a different way.

2) This Kickstarter is already now a huge success. Just different from the first one.

Those awesome facts, while obvious, can get overlooked.

Police Box, yes. If I drop Exp 3 in favor of other stuff, I'll definitely be picking up ALL of the first Exp 3 reveal (terrain) at retail.

Weeping Angels, yes. Because yes.

The UFO might get picked up at retail. I can probably make some cool terrain out of it.

Grays? Not so much. Won't use them, ever.

It all depends on what the last unlock for Exp 3 is.

Armoured, bubble helmeted, brain-in-a-jar retro 50's hollywood evil spacemen from a blatantly silly and hilarious spoof franchise, versus naked, late-90's X-Files era Greys. I just don't see them as competing products.

You might actually consider them complementary, as they could be rival aliens.
