Bones Kickstarter #2 Discussion

I...I...I...holy crap.

It's deja vu all over again, isn't it? Only this time I don't have to spend several days being converted to Bones. I come preconverted this time, and eager!

When I left for work this morning, the Kickstarter and this post were at 0. I got home around noonish. I blacked out for a bit, and maybe hit some buttons or something, and apparently I'm in for wave 3. *stares at the five thousand unpainted minis* Help.

Sure, I'll help enable. Happy to. You're pretty cute, for an eight-legged bloodsucking carnivore.

See, the secret is that you need to pledge more. Then it'll all be better. You'll feel good. Some endorphines will release. A nice glowy buzz. Then you won't worry about the unpainted ones, because all you'll see are the new ones.

And that'll be groovy, baby. Real groovy.

Can anyone explain (or point me to an explanation) of the difference between HD and MSP paints?

They have similar properties, but HD have a higher density and are more opaque. This is great for base coating in one to two coats. MSPs are a bit to a lot more translucent and are great for layering and glazing techniques. To get a full coverage with MSPs usually takes two to four coats.

You are the wrong kind of help. It's so bad, but it feels so good.

HD are "more robust", having come out of the second and short-lived pro paint line. They're better for basecoating, MSPs more for fine work. Theoretically. Myself I make no distinction and use them for all tasks equally. But, that's the deal. They're MSPs except a bit hardier and less genteel.

I had a go at guestimating shipping using the USPS calculator: http://postcalc.usps.com/

Shipping costs will probably go up again in the next year and Reaper will hopefully have a better rate than standard retail but these should be indicative:

Cheaper costs are based on using a standard size/service which is smaller than the box I got from KS1. More expensive costs based on the 19"x13"x9" box I got and 6 kg weight (about what my KS1 weighed).

Aus/NZ: US$60 - 120

UK US$60 - 85

BC, Canada: US$40 - 85

I like metal. In many cases, I PREFER metal. For generics, troops, and stuff I intend to do for tabletop, Bones are fine. I also like Bones for models that would weigh fifty pounds and cost a car payment if they were metal.

But at this point, I'm happy to see NEW SCULPTS coming out...

Bones bookcase! I want an entire 28mm library worth of those

::D: Thanks!!! I'd hoped someone would like it.

Also, the bed should stack into bunks if you buy more than one (at least that was my plan when sculpting it).

Andy

The bookcase immediately caught my eye and I completely mapped out what colours I'd use. So quickly, I think I actually saw the picture in colour.
