This just in!!!

We bring you the (probably) Final OneBoot Report! (though I reserve the right to do another before the end if I so choose!)

ONEBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!!

~~~~~~~~
Bane172 3 minutes ago
@Bryan With the Kahnjira. Ive heard the estimate for his weight is around 4 pounds Is that how much he weighs as a green? whats the weight difference between bones and greens? and could you give an estimate on how much he will cost retail?
Bryan Stiltz 1 minute ago
@Bane - We estimate $75-95 Retail. The 4lb weight is in Bonesium, The green was over 7 lbs.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Bryan Stiltz 11 minutes ago
@Christacular - We're at $196,700 for today. Tomorrow's going to beat that for sure, when we show what's in those ruins! We are confident.
~~~~~~~~~
Amanchanamun about 3 hours ago
Reaper do you plan to make starwars mini one day? May i hope?
Reaper Miniatures about 3 hours ago
@Amanchanamun - That is not in our plans at this time
~~~~~~~~~
Dknight23 about 3 hours ago
@ Reaper Will there be an option to buys additional pieces from the core expansions?

Reaper Miniatures about 3 hours ago
@Dknight - Not at this time.

~~~~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 3 hours ago
We must make a good faith attempt to ship or provide a refund yes. Proof of shipping means tracking must be provided in the event of a dispute. It's pretty complex but it keeps creators honest.
~~~~~~~~~~
basement.dweller about 3 hours ago
@Reaper: I've always wondered - is it possible to ban users from pledging?

Reaper Miniatures about 3 hours ago
@Basment.dweller - nope. There are sometimes (very rarely) projects put up as scams, and the only defense the community has against scammers is the fact that creators cannot ban or delete users and comments. Thus people who whistle-blow the baddies can be heard.

Baphomet about 3 hours ago
@Reaper - isn't it possible though for a project creator to refund an a users pledge and not ship them anything?

Reaper Miniatures about 3 hours ago
@Baph - yes, after the project ends. What we cannot do is prevent them form pledging to begin with. We can report abuse to Kickstarter but they have to ban.
~~~~~~~~
Scott Robinson about 4 hours ago
What are the chances that Reaper would let us pick up the shipment from Denton rather than waiting for it to be shipped? I might give up my wave 2 for a later wave if I knew I could drive over (I live pretty close and hope to make the party tomorrow).
Reaper Miniatures about 4 hours ago
@Scott - 100% chance if you tell us you want to pick it up in person.
Scott Robinson about 4 hours ago
I will drop back from my wave 2 in a second. How do I let Reaper know I intend to pick it up? -- is that a question for next fall?
Reaper Miniatures about 3 hours ago
@Scott - in the Pledge manager, you will have a spot to leave that as a note.
~~~~~~~~~~
basement.dweller about 4 hours ago
I think this has come up before , but i have not seen it added to the faq and I have not seen it confirmed - If I have a core pledge, can I keep it but use that amount for addons and is it possible to buy a core expansion without the core?

Reaper Miniatures about 4 hours ago
@Basement Dweller - Yes, you may.
~~~~~~~~
Peter "araziel" Cruickshanks about 4 hours ago
@Reaper
However you did mention a new video earlier showing off the core minis, any ETA on that one?
Reaper Miniatures about 4 hours ago
@Peter - We have run into a snag with that video, and won;t have it finished in time.
~~~~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 4 hours ago
re: The person who asked about 3" Bases - they are listed in the Pledger as "Bag O' Bases Large" Our sizes are 1"=Small, 2"=Medium, 3"= Large. This is not in line with how many RPGs classify them, but we do not make those RPGs
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 4 hours ago
@Olivier - the Minotaur is a digital sculpt, that is not a prototype it is a render.
~~~~~~~~~~
Corporea about 4 hours ago
Any word on the appearance of Tiamat?

Reaper Miniatures about 4 hours ago
@Corporea - highly unlikely for this KS.
~~~~~~~~~~
Taffimai about 4 hours ago
@Reaper If you were to put the Fire Demon from the Demon Lords option next to the Minotaur Lord, and ignoring their wings/polearm, which would stand taller and how much?
Reaper Miniatures about 4 hours ago
@Taffimal, I'm guessing not counting the polearm Minotaur lord is taller by a few MM - I seem to recall the Fire Demon being 70mm, and Minotaur is 80mm
~~~~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 4 hours ago
@DMSlies - The Frog Demon is like 2.5 Forscales, and the Minotaur Lord is 80mm.
~~~~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 4 hours ago
@Galladril - a Great Many models from this are first run figures, yes! We also think that is a great thing.
~~~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 5 hours ago
Larger, more complex models take more molds than smaller, simple models. One Cavalry is not the same as One Zombie
~~~~~~~
John Williams about 6 hours ago
@Reaper - Do previous backers continue to get the email updates?
Reaper Miniatures about 6 hours ago
@John, once you are no longer a backer, no.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 6 hours ago
@Nameless - it is very common for people to back a project, then at the end, decide they don;t want to. There's usually an exodus as people leave. We are not concerned. We have plenty more to attract people back very soon!
~~~~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 8 hours ago
@Sven - Amazon payments will deduct the money as soon as the project countdown timer on this project ends.
~~~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 8 hours ago
I don't remember who asked (apologies), but the basilisk and dracolisk are both works-in-progress and not finished sculpts.
~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 8 hours ago
@Lawrence - many of the new sculpts from this Kickstarter might also be made in metal. The larger a figure is, the less likely it is to also appear in metal. Based on our experiences with the last Kickstarter figures, we're doing our best to customize the plastic mix for each figure as necessary for the best appearance and function of thin or structural support parts.
~~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 9 hours ago
@Robert Gamble - what is currently the pledge calculator will become the pledge manager. You will have a few weeks (and be notified of all deadlines via update) to select and lock in your selections.
~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 9 hours ago
@Crimson - I believe the minotaur lord fits on a 3" base.
~~~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 9 hours ago
@Kenneth - yes, the molds for Bones are stainless steel.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 9 hours ago
@Christacular - sometimes sculptors offer us finished figures. More often we commission them to create the figures that we need.
~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 9 hours ago
@Lawrence - the models in the videos are metal or resin prototypes. We need the money from the Kickstarter to be able to afford to get the molds made to make the Bones versions. That's pretty much the whole point of what we're doing here. :)
~~~~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 9 hours ago
@Mike - yes we are setting up for more future digital prototyping.
~~~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 9 hours ago
@Alysa - no, you will not have an extra charge if you miss the last reveal and need to pledge for it later. But trust me, you don't want to miss the last reveal! ;)
~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 9 hours ago
@Adam - the flying saucer has landing gear.
~~~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 9 hours ago
To clarify, Jordan is correct. The price to join after Kickstarter via the pledge manager will be higher. Prices will remain the same for everyone who has pledged through the Kickstarter but chooses to add on additional items later through the pledge manager. (Though of course those add-ons do not unlock new cool stuff the way pledging right now does.)
~~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 9 hours ago
@Wally - we will remind people about the post-Kickstarter price increase.
@OG - we'll reveal as much of the map as people pledge to reveal, let's get this snowball rolling so we can see it all!
~~~~~~~~
Kristof65 about 10 hours ago
@Reaper (or anyone who knows the answer) - I'm sure this has been asked before, but is the figure in the flying saucer an integral part of it, or something that can be removed? (even if it means prying out a glued in piece).

Reaper Miniatures about 10 hours ago
@Kristof65 - it is designed as an integral part. We will not know whether that specific section is designed as a glue-in or part of another piece until the moldmakers work their magic.
~~~~~~~~~
Dan Goodchild about 10 hours ago
Hey, are the Caryatid colums Ron's 2nd "before & after" minis?
Reaper Miniatures about 10 hours ago
@Dan - yes they are!
~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 10 hours ago
The water elemental is comparable in size to the large fire elemental from the first Kickstarter.
~~~~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 10 hours ago
Dracolisk and basilisk are sculpted by Julie Guthrie, the Burrowing Horror is by Jason Wiebe.
~~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 11 hours ago
Dracoslisk would fit on the 2" Base
~~~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 11 hours ago
@Albert - the second column is in it's attack Pose. Caryatid Columns are a monster that appears to be a carved column until it attacks - like an angel of sorrow appears to be a cemetery statue, or a mimic appears to be a treasure chest.
~~~~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 11 hours ago
The Basilisk fits on the 1" bases.
~~~~~~~~~
Reaper Miniatures about 12 hours ago
@Dan- Baphomet actually e-mailed Ron and Myself personally to thank us for that mini!
(man...now I want a mini of a cat peeking out of a single boot! ::P:
~~~~~~~~~
Ron Hawkins about 13 hours ago
Thomas - the demon lord of minotaurs should come in about 80mm to the top of his "hump". Unfortunately, the final print won't be ready until Monday or Tuesday. Doh! We'll update pics as soon as we can.
~~~~~~~~~~
Damn I think it's going slowly... I would have thought that both the Expansion set #3 and Khanjira would have resulted in much more money coming in. It seems a long way to $2,850,000... and then there's the ruins set too.
It's as if people are waiting for Expansion #3 to unlock before they pledge for it.
Yes... yes, my faith is wavering. :wacko:
As for Khanjira in green stuff (or whatever other clay it's been sculpted in). What many do is to bulk it out with something else (e.g. tightly crushed tin foil) around the armature. That way it's not solid green stuff, just the outer "shell."
Now I'm wondering how much 7lbs of sculpting putty costs.
Roughly $256 wholesale buying the 36" inch rolls of blue/green 'tape' style kneadatite in bulk from Polymeric Systems (who make it). Yes I do order it for our store. ^_^
Whoops, my mistake. This is closer to right. 37 ounces, not dollars.
Also, Bryan kinda-sorta announced KS3!
Dude, $200K in one day is not too shabby at all, and it's just going to go up tomorrow. There's no way we aren't going to get to Khanjira by tomorrow afternoon.
And I'm sure Khanjira isn't solid GS, but it still weighs 7 lbs. Tin foil weighs a negligible amount, so most of that weight is going to be some variety of putty (though probably a cheaper clay of some sort, rather than pure green stuff, of course).
Whoops, a couple of things snuck past me:
~~~~~~~~~

Bryan Stiltz 4 minutes ago

I teased earlier that we had 3 reveals planned for the final day of KS one - and hit only 2 of them. The Kaiju there was #3.

~~~~~~~~
Bryan Stiltz less than a minute ago
Kraken was on the list but got pushed back
Bryan Stiltz 1 minute ago
@Siri - Kraken was one of the unhit goals, but not the big 3 finale minis.
~~~~~~~~~

@Slendertroll - Where are you getting that from (regarding a KS3)?

Huzzah!

Getting what?

Also, for the naysayers: remember we still have the ruins to reveal as well! If that doesn't cause a massive pledge spike, I'll eat an entire murder.

Can you do that with a green you are going to make a mold from? Honest question, I had assumed you needed such a green to be solid and reasonably homogeneous all the way through.

Oh, right.

Grum Thicklepicker

@Bryan how does one get on a mailing list to find out when the ks3 is?

Bryan Stiltz

@Grum - with a pledge here, you're on it!

So... only kinda' sorta'. :devil:

Ah, okay. I couldn't find what post Grum had made that Bryan had responded to, so I didn't include it.

I know they have said at points in the past that if they were to do Warlord (I think that's what it was) in Bones, then they'd have to do a whole KS just for that. Or maybe it was CAV. It was some war-game type system that I'm not personally familiar with.

But don't quote me on that, as I'm not certain which system it was he said.

I would guess that depends on what kind of mould it would be. I'm sure the tin foil could be compressed enough to do pressure/vulcanization moulds. The alternative is to do a silicone mould and make a resin prototype from that. You could then do a vulcanization mould from the resin prototype.

Wasn't Kaly a digital "green?" That would explain why it would be easier to enlarge her.

The Reapresentatives are on record as saying that neither Warlord and CAV will be officially included in any larger Bones KS, because if they decide to Kickstart those lines, they will want to do smaller, more specific campaigns for them.

So, the short answer is both.
