I think part of that is that it's minis as opposed to movies or TV. For minis use, there's D&D and Pathfinder that benefit greatly from minis, but not really anything corresponding to those that would make use of Sci-Fi. Personally, I do Savage Worlds, so I like both, but for most people D&D and Pathfinder and the beginning and end of minis based gaming.

 

I would bet you would see much less of a division in people who are hobby painters as opposed to gamers.

That seems plausible.

And pleased to hear you are a friend of Savage Worlds, it is one of my favourite systems.

That explains it. I figured it was just the very international make up of the forums that was leading to so many people using that expression which I've not heard used like that much.

 

 

I thought this at first, too. I also thought "an butt" was a forum in-joke.

 

Funny thing is, though, that once I learned what the replacement words were I actually just start typing those in.

 

I also created a D&D monster, which I have not yet had time or place to use, which uses a gibber ability to cause rage. Said monster is the Anwoofingbutt. It just sort of sits on a perch and shouts at people until they get upset, then when they attack it throws poisoned poop.

 

Sounds like it's a Kender/Monkey hybrid :poke:

Kaladrax was announced as a time stretchgoal, right? They just said "Okay, 5 hours to go, here's what you get if you raise 200k in that time." I wonder if that's the plan for the ruins. No matter what we raised, they were always destined for that final slot.

 

And of course, Cthulhu was announcedin KS1 after the Kaladrax goal was blown out of the water. Man, I hope something like that happens today. I could use just a liiiiitle more awesome.

We are going to ask that for the last 2 hours of the project, we please keep idle chatter to a minimum- it increases server load and reduces the chances that we will be able to see important questions from people who need help.

Well, I just confirmed my final pledge of just shy of $1000 as I am heading out for the day. I suspect most people have shored up their pledges for the day as well.

 

We have $130k to go until the next reveal and 7 hours left. I hope we can make it as I pledged for the big guy already. A little anti-climantic for me with the sci-fi expansion taking up so much of the end reveals, but there are obvisouly people who like them so congrats to you guys. I hope Reaper throws in some treat revelas to entice more money for Khanjira as the reveal is a large jump away. I think the only way left for big money to roll in is with new backers pledging for the core set then getting excited and adding extras.

 

It was an enjoyable adventure and a good run. The new miniatures are awesome and it will take me probably ten+ years to paint everything from my Reaper KS#1 & KS #2. Damn, I need a sweatshop full of elves.
