Bones Kickstarter #2 Discussion

I've considered abandoning grid movement altogether and taking a page from WH40K - just using a measuring tape and going with inches. It's just harder to navigate and could slow things down a little bit, especially since it'd make AoOs and such more complicated. But I'm curious how 4.x's movement rules would help. From my experience, they use a grid system too...

Going gridless is what I'd recommend. If you need a stepping stone before you abandon the grid completely, try the rules for hexes. http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/adventuring/hexGrid.htm

I'm a little disappointed we havent seen t'Rauk or Stormwing, but with all the 'no more dragons' backlash I guess they maybe pushed them back

What backlash?

hat's off to Reaper. two 3+ million projects. How many folks can say that!? ::D:

But it's still about $135K shy, isn't it?

No, it´s more about $125K :

No, no, no... It is 115K.

Bwahahahaha

How many stretch goals do you think we will reach? One or two?

We do need to scale back to only one visible goal - so that there's not a goal hanging out there at the end of the project. Be aware. We will reveal another goal ONLY if we achieve Dragons Don't Share in time

I fear for my wallet should we break 3 mil.

If Reaper has shown us as far ahead as $3m, it is because they know that they will achieve that goal. It's why I went ahead and pledged for both the tarrasque and the DDS2 diorama.

Thank goodness Reaper knows how to run a successful kickstarter and hasn't listened to the nay-sayers.

So, what is beyond $3m? Any ideas?

I'm thinking a core set bump of figures.

Ok. Every time I have gone to HQ it has felt further and further away. Maybe it is worse today because I have the daughter asking how much longer every two minutes. Stopped at Starbucks down street to wait for a friend. Hope there is still plenty to do and see.

<sarcasm>

oh, no, we are wrapping it up early and going out for froyo...

see you when you get here...

Frankthedm. For most people, I think it's just hyperbole. We're excited! :)

Well since the VA just said, surprise we screwed up and will not be paying you your disability for a year, it's not so much hyperbole with me.

Oh no! I'm so sorry!

I play 4e and I went grid-less, its not that much harder, because certain ranges are set Walking, running, Fireball range, Arrow range. We made paper blast templates so my daughter could finally see the danger area from her fireball spell.

I like the look of terrain without a grid, and yep used to play 40k.

Currently I am thinking of taking some stuff from 2e and merging it into 4e, the spells, proficiencies, and role-playing from 2e and allowing feats from 4e, keeping the combat stuff from 4e. I got rid of healing surges and action points, I like good old priests and paladins, first aid etc. I have special skills for example baking and the foods give buffs, Santa's Hot Cocoa gives Cold resist 5. I also allow companions of all sorts aka Wizards 101 and WOW hunter pets, have to work on a level system and skill sets for the companions. I make up skills and spells for my players all the time and don't just stick with what a stinky book says. I modified the 4e monsters because the lesser monsters have too many hit points and the higher level ones aren't tough enough.

I have been thinking about this recently because 4e really makes players think D&D is just a tactical minis game, and I am not impressed with other games so I think I will find the perfect game by making it myself.
