Bones Kickstarter #2 Discussion

The artists "row" was an impressive line up! It was so nice to shake hands with them, and thank them for sharing their talent with us.

This was probably my favorite part and worth the drive out there with my 3 1/2 year old just to hang out for an hour before she got bored with daddy drooling over new stuff. :)

Ok I saw somewhere that there would not be a trade thread for this Bones KS I can't find how Ladystorm said to let people know how to trade can anyone enlighten me?

Dunno how far it'll get, but some BGG'ers are starting up a trade thread: http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1051573/reaper-bones-trade-forum

Anyway, thanks to Reaper for buckets of awesome. I *REALLY* hope we see more terrain pieces so my miniatures can fight!

The bad news is that I should get a new computer because the old one's fan is about to blow and won't play Sims 3 plus the expansions, anyway.

The good news is that I'm building a budget gaming rig at CyberPower for $650, better than what's on sale at $900 at Fry's! Almost enough to make up for my Bones KS2 pledge! :D

The three I remember chatting with the most were great with giving some advice. I feel bad because I don't remember any names even though I saw a name for one of them. I brought up one of them putting her brush in her mouth every time she cleaned it off and we discussed that for a bit. Also talked about lighting and magnification since I am old and have a hard time seeing details on this LTPK1 mini I started on.

I had to go to my cousin's 30th birthday party on Saturday, but slipped away for the last 2½ hours of the KS to watch it all end. Then it was off to the party again afterwards for more beer. :bday:

This is what we ended up with in my/our pledge:

3 x Core Set
2 x Core Expansion Set #1
2 x Core Expansion Set #2
3 x Heroes and Villains
2 x Master Series Paints
2 x Master Series Paints 2
2 x Oh, Rats
1 x Unleash the Kraken
1 x Lords of Darkness
5 x Narthrax Dragon
1 x Mouselings
2 x Water elementals option
2 x Gelatinous Cube
3 x Hill Giants
1 x Dungeon Decor II
2 x Blightfang
2 x Cinder
1 x Sylvan Creatures
2 x Devils
1 x Greater Demons
1 x Mashaaf, Great Old One
1 x Demon Lords
3 x Burrowing Horror
2 x Khanjira
2 x Dragons Don't Share II
1 x Thank You!

More things might (will!) get added over the next weeks as people get more money and/or get more acquainted with what's available.

I also wanted to put this here in case anyone wondered how the moulds for the Bones minis are made:

BTW, how much longer is this thread going to be active? Still the place to come and discuss the KS II or is there another thread going that I missed?

Based on what happened during the first KS, I would think this thread will remain open as a general KS II discussion thread for quite a while. Until the topic of conversation turns to fulfillment and delivery anyway. You can probably except to see a lockdown of this one and a new one started up then.

All the Reaper artists that I have met are extremely nice and great to talk to in my experience. Tre Manor is local to me and he is an all-around great guy to discuss miniatures with.

The thing is, I think Tre Manor's Red Box miniatures look really nice.

But the miniatures he does for Reaper are my absolute favorite!!! His Monstrous Humanoids are brilliant.

I would love if he didn't do stuff in the 20mm scale though.

I feel the same way. It's tough when an artist has an established style and then decides to change it.

I'm going through a similar thing with Mike Evans and his Stonehaven Elves.

If you don't have to use mountain climbing gear or pack food and water rations to survive the climb over your miniature collection to get to your work table, you don't have enough, yet.

I currently have a team of engineers looking at the possibility of excavating a tunnel through my pile of unpainted minis in order to get to the stuff I have on the otherside, as due to the extremely high elevation involved, an overland route just isn't feasible.

The biggest concern right now is a tunnel collapse in weaker areas of the mini pile due to the variations of materials used in the miniatures over the years. Some areas may have become unstable.

It's feared that such a collapse could lead to avalanches or even a mountain slide down one of the piles facings, which could bury my painted mini's collection with the possibility of damage extending as far as my videogame and blueray collection, a risk I'm unwilling on taking at this stage.

Time for a Mini Bin, Unca Zacal. Then, you can practice swimming through it like a dolphin, burrowing through it like a gopher, or tossing minis up and letting them hit you on the head -- I would recommend Bones for the last one; metal could kill, or worse.... become dented!
