Also... how sure are you that all this will actually come out properly in Bonesium? A few of the figs, seem... improbable... in their level of detail. Based on the last Kickstarter's results, that Mouseling in the deeply cowled hood (bottom, next to the wizard) seems especially likely to cast badly.

Based on the last Kickstarter I see very little reason for concern.

Most of the Bones are pretty detailed, there are only a handful which are problematic.

GOROLOTH! GOROLOTH! WOOOOOOOOO! That's what I will say when he arrives.

The PF villains are a bit meh, but the liche is good and the cernunos or whatever he is is good, and the rest should appeal to PF folks, right? There's several sculpts so far I was meh on, but they go for $2 on eBay, roughly, and that gets me my money back plus some profit...

dang, the KS comments are really hating on the PF villains.

It's funny, because my first thought was kinda "meh"...

...then I realized all of those dudes fit perfectly into the thoughts for my next D&D campaign, which is going to have some seriously gonzo elements to it (think Slaine and fantasy from Heavy Metal, Michael Moorcock, and the like).

Looked at in that light - those figures are perfect (three of them, leading a pair of the ogre chieftain from KS1, with the giant evil face shields? the Horned Hunter as the leader of a bunch of barbarian mutant dudes, with Revens and minotaurs as his champions? aww yeahh...).

The thing frustrating me a little at the moment are the people in the Kickstarter comments who're insisting that Reaper's got it wrong and there's someway for them to provide free or cheap shipping to ROW backers if Reaper only looked hard enough / talked to company_00 / prayed really hard to the Great Pixy in the Sky.

It's not my problem. I don't need to get involved. But I feel like shaking them by the scruff of the neck and asking 'If it was as easy as you're suggesting, you don't think that maybe a company that has an existing international sales presence like, oh, Reaper, might have just investigated those options before starting the KS? Either give them a specific example of how they can save money by doing what you're suggesting or, with the greatest respect, you're being part of the problem'

So am I. My main points are

A) You can make a fairly accurate estimate for shipping yourself if it really worries you

B) There is a legal obligation to pay duty, and you certainly should have paid it if appropriate on KS1

C) If the $80 or whatever that shipping + duty costs is going to be a hardship, then maybe you shouldn't be purchasing bulk cheap plastic figures in the first place

D) If you really are upset that the US is (effectively) getting subsidised shipping and that Reaper haven't confirmed either way whether ROW shipping will have the same subsidy, arrange a reshipper in the US, get them sent free shipping to that location, and on ship from there. I certainly will be.

I gotta say, all these pathfinder villains look alike to me. I like the druidy guy with the huge rack at top-left, & center-guy looks like he has some nice textures. Would never buy em, but for free? I have enough friends who'll love em, even if I do get two sets. On the plus side, I've figured out how to win if I ever sit in on a PF game, tho:

"Is anyone wearing horns?"

"Um... yes. The kings advisor."

"I stab him."

My pathfinder PC wear a horned helmet :(

( I use the Horned King mini - he was the BBEG in PF Kingmaker book #1)

wth - give me guys with horns. ill paint 'em and find a way to use them .

Exactly.

And customs are a much greater pain than shipping for me.

Well, I am RoW and postage sucks, but that is the price for ordering abroad.

Indeed. I'm in the US, and ordering from [certain European miniatures companies] can get expensive on the international shipping bit.

So what do I do? I pay for it.

And to get quality products? I'll continue to pay for it.
