If we want to get geeky and historical, the "original" Tarasque was a legendary french turtle-like dragon beast of yore, and we already have a turtle-dragon. ::P:

Eh... I might be in the minority, but a tarasque doesn't really excite me. It always struck me as more of a "bogey man" for the DM to threaten players with, than something that would actually be used (at least in AD&D 2nd Ed.; I don't know about other iterations). Still, if Reaper makes one I suspect I'd wind up getting it because I'm sure it would look awesome. ::P:

I hope we see some more devils to fill out their ranks. The different demon groups had descriptors though (lesser, etc.), and since the devil group doesn't maybe that isn't planned...

Yeah it's a cool looking creature but I would never have a reason to use it. I don't know if I could resist buying one but if I did I think I would probably end up thinking better of it later and then selling it.

Much like Cthulhu, if your game has you putting a figure out to represent the tarrasque you're probably not doing it right.* These are ancient, epic evils that are probably better used as the terrain on which the final battle is fought rather than actual boss monsters (e.g., defeat the final monster before he completes the summoning ritual at sleeping Cthulhu's feet and raises him to devour the world rather than "beat Cthulhu.")

Note that I got a Great Cthulhu in Bones I, and will most likely get a tarrasque if offered in Bones II, at least if its price is comparable to the steal that was Great Cthulhu. I don't plan on using either for anything other than decoration and painting, but they're nice to have.

*Or you're doing it awesomely, YMMV with everyone's playing group and styles differing...

I was talking to them last night and they are saying a shipping calculator is coming really soon. Really soon like probably today or tomorrow. Don't quote me but they are shooting for it happening quick.

If the calculator is available by Monday then we're rockin. Will give me a lot more confidence in what I can/can't afford and my plans for shipping, etc. If the same calculator also lets me repledge for pieces of the Core Set, my pledge will probably bounce. Right now I'm at $162.

As for tarrasque, I wouldn't mind if he was a double-perk. Throw him in as a $25 Orange add-on and have a Purple tier of the same level (like how they did the $1M tier). I'd never pick him up though; he'd just collect dust.

You know what you use a Terasque mini for? You sit it next to your DM screen and anytime someone gets off topic or says silly things you glance at it see if things don't quiet down lol.

I always thought the Tarasque was a bit silly to be honest.... and in a game with owl bears and magical woodland pixie folk it takes a lot to be silly.

Blasphemy!

It's the kill it wih a wish part, it's all a bit too monster lurking under the bed to take it seriosuly

So you change it so it can only be killed by the power of a magical staff, which is in multiple scattered pieces that have to be found, and once assembled it takes a half hour to charge. Then you take the PCs, all their henchmen and followers, the allied army of King Whutsisname, and fight an epic LOTR-scale battle to hold the beast at bay and weaken it to use the magic rod.

I don't know about you, but that sounds like a pretty cool campaign topper to me.

Like everything else in the game, monster entries are only the suggested serving of one recipe. You can make a lot of different stuff out of them clams.

Actually in 15 years of playing I've never fought one or thrown one at my players! I think having a mini of one would make me actually throw one at them even it it is just a 1-shot adventure

I disagree. A Tarrasque would be awesome for a dungeon crawl. ::D:

Well, as I also said: "These are ancient, epic evils that are probably better used as the terrain on which the final battle is fought rather than actual boss monsters..."

That would be an awesome themed dungeon, or battle board for a skirmish game...

My group used a +600 Longsword of Tarrasque Slaying, only useable from the inside.

You can change it however you want but the second it comes up it's still making me think click your heels together and say you believe in fairies.

You can make an evil soul devouring extra-planar entity look like a small fluffy kitten, but it's still silly...... also awesome, but silly.

If you can get him down to the point that the wish works, then you're at a level where you find rings of wishes between sofa cushions. The wish is just a surcharge.

Our party had a close encounter of the Tarrasque in a campaign once. We'd gotten ourselves into a ginormous underground network of caverns, and were making our way through them, when the DM mentioned that the ground was starting to tremble, as if from the footsteps of an enormous creature....

We quickly found a small cave (full of bats) and cowered there hoping that it wouldn't notice us as it slowly lumbered past. We were too scared to leave the cave for 2 days after that.

I would totally be behind a tarrasque mini, if only to have it wander across the gaming board just like that. ::D:

Huzzah!
