Figured I'd toss this guy up, as I'm very happy with him. He's actually my second mini ever, after a Bones minotaur (I plan to do some more work on that one)! I have painted a few more since then, which I'll take pictures of later.

I painted this dude at the Reaper paint-and-take at PAX this year. Well... half-painted. We were only supposed to sit for an hour. I stayed for 1:45, before I got all antsy and had to go explore the convention some more. I think you found more warts/boils on the figure than I did. I am curious, though, why the decision to paint them white? I thought they would be discolored, but still somewhat resembling the rest of the green flesh color.

Have some Other Stuff! I'm not as happy with any of it as the Troll, but that's okay!

Starting with my FIRST EVER. I didn't notice some of the stray paint until after I took pics. Might touch him up, but I'm thinking of leaving my early ones untouched (Bones are nice and cheap and all) so that I can see a progression of skill!

Next, I have a Sir Forscale. Not really happy with how he turned out, though.

Finally, a kobold! First of six! Liking him better than Sir Forscale, but I intend to do a nicer ob on the other five.

I love the gauntlets on the minotaur. It looks like you might have used a wash or something to make the details pop out on it? I'm having a hard time getting detail on a lot of my armors to show through. I prime black, and my basecoats all flow down into the parts I want shaded, and leave all the high spots dark. After several basecoat layers I finally get all the high points nice and bright, then have to begin the process of darkening down the low stuff again. It's tedious.

If you applied that same "dark in the valleys, light at the peaks" look to the musculature on him, it'll really emphasize his bulginess.

Cool to see another new painter here! Keep it up!

If you need the details to pop on your metallics, try mixing a wash of P3 Armor Wash with your base color (not your basecoat metallic) and a little water; then go over the armor lightly with it. Brown for gold/brass, dark brown for bronze, and either dark gray or straight Armor Wash for steel/silver.
