77072: Bailey Silverbell (Summer 2013 exchange)

Just got word that DispatchDave and his wife received the package we sent; I'll let Nissiana post her mini in a bit; I'm pretty sure she took some photos before we sent them off!

 

Here's my contribution. Instructions were pretty free-form, so I decided to paint up Bailey Silverbell. I also wanted to play a bit, so I did some fun things with this mini...

 

The cloak, gloves and pants were all the Ashen blue triad, shaded with some purple and glazed over with teal. I was kinda thinking about Tolkien's Elvish cloaks, so I wanted a grey that had some personality to it. The metals are all based with the teal I used on the grey fabric, then painted with shaded metallics. And the jack/jerkin is the dusky grape purples triad.

 

The cloak came out well, and it was fun to play with. I'm also happy with her eyes; there's actually color in her irises!

@LittleBluberry, yes, this is the Bones version of Bailey. The detail on her jack is a little soft (the stitching isn't as well-defined as it might be), but otherwise she's a great little mini, just like the metal. Her face was a joy to paint.

This is a very nice mini, and we are grateful to receive it!

 

I like the cloak, excellent colors. The eyes turned out fantastic; Bette Davis Eyes? I also like the shaded/tinted metallics.

 

Overall, a fantastic piece, and I love it, even though I said I wanted Sascha. ;)

Thanks, Dave; glad you like her. The shaded metallics are something I'm working to get better on, and I like a lot of how they turned out on Bailey, so I'm glad you agree!

 

As for the eyes, the Bette Davis Eyes method is the basic way I do my eyes, along with Derek's "trick" of looking to one side or the other.
