Mr. Bones Trick or Treat

Okay, finally had a chance to pay attention and make an entry for a contest. So, since I want another Mr. Bones based on the new Bones II Kickstarter I decided to make my own version. So the original Mr. Bones lost his shovel and stopped pointing at people. Now he's holding a lantern ... from the Undertaker ... and a large modeled treat bag.

Here's the modded and based Mr. Bones II:

I have to add some green stuff tomorrow when he's all settled.

And make some bones to stick out of the bag as well as the bag coming out of his holding hand.

Hit me with your thoughts on it.

Oh and my deadline is the end of the KS. Not just the contest deadline.

This makes me happy in so many ways. :)

I love the "new" Mr. Bones for this KS, he's so cute! ^_^ It's cool that you're doing this, and if a new Mr. Bones isn't revealed before the end, I just might have to pick up a second Mr. Bones and do something similar! :)

I have three of him from last KS. And I always intended to mod one of him.

He's a fun little fellow.

Originally, I thought I should use a halfling as a trick-or-treating kid in costume.

But I like Mr. Bones better.

Awesome! I bet you could just use some chopped up skeleton bits for the bag and save on green stuff. Can you find a way to incorporate a tombstone and the bat from the familiar set?

I think I can sacrifice a Bones skely for this. Sadly, it was late and I hadn't made the mental leap for that.

Didn't you see what he's standing on compared to the KS gameboard?

He doesn't need any more base embellishment.

Made me smile with this, Thrym. Between this and your Marvel team up thread watching you is a real joy ::):

Thanos is getting his touch up to his basecoat tonight. Might get into the highlighting as well.

BRILLIANT.

Well I dont know what I can say about the green stuff sculpting other than you are a billion times better at it then me. I really like the idea.

Thanks everyone. Appreciate it.

bblythe84, as with anything it's all in the practice. However, to learn shaping and such without fear of hurting a figure or something else ... grab some Sculpey and play with it where you plan to use the green stuff. It's good practice and you can visualize what you want to do before doing it for real.

And don't be afraid to pull the GS up and start over. I get frustrated at times and just start over.

The last thing ... to avoid waste ... keep some minis you need to add green stuff to the base for. Excess GS covers some of my older minis that need better bases.

This is something I really love about Bones...the material holds well with putty, but if you really screw up a piece, it's easy to peel off.

It's that time of year for Orcs...but I already did that.  So it's time to get spooky instead!

Here's my latest from Bones V (and recent promos) on that front.

Still needs some basing, but he's off to a good start.

      Interesting how this worked out.
I did dry brushing on the first two layers of greens.
Then went back in with regular brush and layers, but didn't think it was loud enough.  What this?  A huge stock pile of BCA pink?  Better put it to use.  I mixed that into the alien green and base, then touched it up with pink to add some warmth (i mean as warm as aghast should be #dead) in the highlights.  Pink and green were a fun combo.

I'm not totally into the tattered shirt colors the more i look at it.  I may need to use a wash over it, which i try to avoid, to add some dirt/grime look to it.  It's too clean and vibrant. But hey, i did layer nicely. Win.

I wasn't sure about the facial features.  I ended up just touching it up with a little green yellow for discoloration around the mouth, but seems like he still needs something.

Next thing i need to do is make a fun base for him.  Something Halloween feeling for sure.  Thanks @Reaper_Jonfor the ghoulie bags and free minis.  Putting them to good use.

Just in time for the season!
I happened to be going through some sort of a creativity crisis.  I would start on a figure and almost right away stop feeling it.
This guy seemed to shake me up quiet nicely.  Although, I did get tired at the end and rushed a few things.  But, as I remember, the profys recommend "paint more minis" as oppose to sitting over one for eternity trying to get it to perfection.

Jake is looking for someone who enjoys Halloween movies as much as he does! Jake was originally released as a special edition figure for Halloween 2015. He was sculpted by Bob Ridolfi.

Since Reaper Miniatures has re-released some of the unavailable Bonesylvanians for Halloween2021, I thought I would share some additional views of the ones I painted, as well as the colours I used.

(Note that these figures are metal and sold individually. Not all of the Bonesylvanians originally released in 2014-2015 were made into Bones plastic versions.)

If you’re feeling brave this Halloween, Maddie dares you to look her right in the eyes. Maddie was originally released as a special edition figure for Halloween 2015. She was sculpted by Julie Guthrie.
