Townsfolk: Geeks - Store Owner (P50231B)

This guy was sitting unfinished for a long time; you may or may not remember the WIP thread where I was looking for T-shirt suggestions. So I thought I'd finish him up, and knocked out what was left today.

As you can see, I went with a Deadpool T-shirt. Why Deadpool? Well, if you have to ask then I can't help you, sorry. I also made a half-posteriored attempt at freehand on the drink bottle, but it ended up as squiggle writing.

It was kind of interesting to come back to a figure that I hadn't touched in months, since I've been painting a lot more in the meantime. I noticed a lot of little things that could have been done better, and made adjustments as best I could to try and improve the figure.

If you're not reading the Marvel Now! run of Deadpool with Brian Posehn writing, you're missing out. I'm reading the tpbs, so I'm a way behind the comics but up to #ten I'm loving it.

It's one of the few comics I actually have a subscription for, really good read. The latest story arc, "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly", is great; they're starting to get into the more tragic aspects of Wade's character which a lot of people tend to ignore.

Some of y'all may remember going to school in the 80's in your brand new corduroy pants.

Hard to go wrong with sexy female demons, but this one was a devil in more than one sense of the word from start to finish.  Despite being cast in metal she is pretty fragile. The trident broke off and for years she sat in my box of unpainted figs, until one day I found the little pointy bit.  Her tail, likewise, kept bending and i was sure I'd lose that too.

Did her skin with the Bright Skin triad, because that's been waiting patiently for years as well.  Her face is a mess, but overall she came out ok.

Painted this guy waaay back in April.  Been a while since I did any show off threads...  Anyway, had fun making his carapace look shiny.  This was also a special needs Bathalian, coming to me with a missing tentacle. I was able to carve one out of some leftover sprue that I keep on hand for such emergencies.

I'm looking forward to painting his friends.

Good ol' Frank Buck, always manages to find trouble, no matter where he goes.  And when he doesn't find it, you can be sure trouble is looking for him.  This was a quick speed paint, making use of washes and shading products.

I've previously posted Hasslefree's Velma analogue 'Louise' as a Miskatonic library assistant. High time I got the rest of the gang together.

A cheap toy VW bus is key to this whole thing. The flowers and turquoise are my addition.

We have Not-Fred-for-Legal-Reasons! (Barney, postapocalyptic version. No ascot, sadly, but a more dynamic sculpt.)

Not-Daphne! (Felicity, also post-apoc version; she looks good with a bat)

Not-Shaggy and his Great Dane! (Wolsey, standard version, and Hamlet; the box of SNAX I made from a chunk of sprue)

And Not-Velma (Louise, featured in another post.)

      More turnaround pix:

What sorts of shenanigans would these meddling teens get up to? and why would they be hired by the circus? (Obviously, the circus doesn't want or need the regular police, even if they could help with spooky crimes.)

Shaggy would immediately volunteer to check out the midway, I think.
"Hey Scoob! You ever had a turkey leg...wrapped in cotton candy?"
*doglike sounds vaguely approximating the phrase "Not yet!"*

Daphne splits off to search for clues (there are plenty),

Behold! A performer about to take a Louisville Slugger straight to the groin!

Somebody has released the animals from the Beast-Tamer's act!

Good thing Barney knows how to make himself look big and loud, not like panther prey! That'll scare them off.

Nothing beats legwork and research for getting to the bottom of a problem. Somebody's been embezzling and cooking the books, if Velma's calculations are correct (they are).

      Hope you enjoy...I certainly did!
