There's something rotten in the pumpkin patch...

Recommended Posts

So I've begun my entry for the impromptu Halloween contest; 03377, Rotpatch the pumpkin golem.

The prep work was done last year, black gesso and dry brushed white. I've been meaning to paint him as the primary antagonist in a D&D game for some time now, so this seemed the best opportunity.

Begun the base coating has: Army Painter Lava Orange for the pumpkins.

...formula?

Straight Army Painter Lava Orange right now, prolly wash down with Strong Tone, drybrush or layer the basecoat for the first highlight, and then touch it up with white or yellow... but I haven't decided yet, and probably won't until I'm actually hammering at it.

You did miss one at the base in the middle of his feet :P

Watching with interest as my non-entry entry is also rotpatch. Sadly, with my 2-year-old it gets interesting painting. I had purple vines to work with mine the other night.

Also: Army painter lava orange is a handy color, that and their Daemonic Yellow are the only two non-Vallejo colors I own (working on getting more reaper paints and all the Vallejo paints).

Hehe, painting with kids is great. I let my daughter put weird colours Kk her own minis instead of mine, though...post-8164-0-08812900-1381107505_thumb.jpg

Mine is still painting a unicorn "my horse!" and an owlbear, and the Chronoscape Ape-X in bones.

She's also painted some bits of my primed metal models and bones models (recent additions are bright pink on Beast 09 and orange on Sir Forscale, right after I did his metals... ).

I miss my old "I'm painting alone" space...

Very nice orange. I could see painting the scythe, wash/highlight the orange, and leave he vine being black gesso as being pretty cool.

Got this guy in my Bones Paint & Take Home Survival Kit earlier this year.  He was done with lots of sloppy washes and dry brushing. I put flock on its exposed twigs, for decency's sake.

Working my way through the backlog of minis I need to photograph and post. I was very intimidated by this guy at first, but it turned out to be lots of fun to paint.

      C&C welcome.

      Greetings!

Coral Golem from the "Titans Of The Tide" pack in Bones 3.

It was quite tricky trying to determine many of the details on this mini but I got there in the end . Some of them, like the little fish & the sea cucumber were a pleasant surprise!

There are areas of UV paint on this mini but I'm afraid I can't get very good pics showing it but the following will give some Idea. If anyone knows how to take a successful pic in low light using a UV lamp, pls let me know & I'll give it a go & post pics.

      Thanks for looking!

Bob Ridolfi's Graveflesh Servant (aka Bride of Frankenstein) in Bones.  I tried to get some different flesh tones on her various parts, do some bruising at the wounds, and not-exactly-sheer fabric effects.  Spent far less time on it than I should have.

I was inspired by limey72  work doing NMM Gold on the enlarged Dwarf over in Works in Progress. I wanted to do a brass like robot or construct, so I pulled out this Golem. I also wanted to try some AK weather effect acrylic pencils I have had for a time. I think it ended with too much brown and ended up wood looking. But it has grown on me, so I will finish up his base and call it done. Hope you like it.
