Stonehaven elves...

The Elves have a very "cartoony" look to them. They wouldn't fit in any game I am currently running or fit with any of the other miniatures I have. Stonehaven is new to me, I didn't back Gnomes or Dwarves but wish I had they look really cool. I'm hoping to see some greens for the smaller races and the Kitsune before this is over. And I really hope they combine the companions into a pledge or party or whatever.

On the comments they hinted at a companions pledge (might also include owl, doe & dog)

I agree I don't like the weapon master sculpt

What I like about this forum is that how level headed people are, you can express an opinion and it doesn't turn into a argument but a conversation :)

I am still in for completionist but uncertain if I will keep it, so far the sculpts are not to my preference for Elves. I currently prefer "Everything but the elves", however some of the Elven sculpts I do like such as the Librarian and Mage.

This is why I generally prefer to avoid KS comments section as some people tend to go absolutely berserk over a difference of opinion.

What a ridiculous thing to write, that's the worst comment EVER typed! I think you're just plain wrong!

I'm going to partially agree with darsc, and partially agree with Shogun, but also partially disagree with both. For the most part I don't think the sculpts have strayed to far from the concept art, it's just that where they have strayed has been unfortunate, like the oft mentioned legs on the druid and longsword. (I could probably deal with the druid as he is clearly shapeshifting so maybe he just has gorilla legs right now, but the longsword just looks weird and the poor weapon master :( ) The sculptor seems to be missing opportunities to improve on the art in many cases. He sculpts them with their arms perfectly straight and parallel to their sides like the art, when no one holds their arms like that very often. All it would take is a little change of moving the weapon arm forward slightly, so that the character looks like he's holding it ready, or to sculpt a weapon pointing down and a little forward, rather than straight down. It would give the elves a much more natural pose. With the dwarves the kind of sculpts they've been doing works very well, and with the gnomes it didn't on a few while a few others were just small enough for it to not be to noticeable, but with the elves the awkwardness of the poses stands out.

I disagree that they are doing a unique take on the elves. They look more like humans with pointy ears than most elf sculpts to me, in fact many of the better ones would make excellent half elves. I don't think that they look to cartoony though, they look fairly normal on that regard to me at least.

I've been fairly negative of this campaign so far, so I also want to say that the ones that work, really work the archer is excellent, the librarian is good, the ceremonial guard is practically drawn to work with the sculptors style so I assume he will work well, the rogue despite the awkward way she is holding her weapons looks better that the concept art. The anacronism ...I mean the pilot has the same thing going for it that the guard does so I have no doubt she will be fine. I am sad that the illusionist doesn't look evil in the sculpt like he does in the concept but I may be able to paint evil back into him. Also armored stag mount!

Looks like people will be getting the flaming unicorn they've been asking for, though I'll admit I don't understand the attraction or why the demand is there or where its coming from.

But folks have been asking so good on Stonehaven for listening I guess.

File off the horn and it could work as a "Nightmare".

I just wonder how big the mounts like the stag, heron, and flaming unicorn are going to be.

I was hoping to use the mounts from the gnome kickstarter for other rider miniatures, but once I received them and saw just how tiny they were, that idea was obviously out the window.
