Questions About the Kickstarter, now that it is over

Well, we knew after KS1 that at a certain # of people, the odds of bile and vitriol at any given update becomes 100%.

Along these lines - Did/does Reaper have any method of determining how many commenters were active when choosing or rejecting ideas?

I was curious, noticing that you've made similar observations to the above (ie, there always being a vocal minority) but then seeing talk about goals getting moved around because of feedback/requests in the comments.

After about an hour or so after any given Update, the "haters" went away, and we'd listen to positive feedback - "I hate that goal" doesn't help us design new goals, you see? But if after several days we notice multiple people asking for something, we moved it forward. One voice crying repeatedly was generally not sufficient. Ron, Matt and I watched very closely, so we compared notes daily.

First off, thanks for the great product, and congratulations on another successful KS campaign.

Will DDS II be available for sale as it's separate components once everything hits retail next year? I.E. Dragon, ruins, adventurers

Also, at one point, I believe it was Ron was teasing about one of the next reveals. The hint was 'based on an 80's cartoon' . I'm fairly positive the referenced cartoon was Dungeons and Dragons...what was the miniature? I'm thinking it's the shadow demon.

Possibly, I can't confirm that at this time.

I was the Shadow Demon.

Any chance of a Warlord Bones Kickstarter strictly focusing on infantry and calvery in the next few months?

I thought that Spider at the end couldnt be done? what changed? I heard alot of people saying its legs would be a problem considering how bonesium is.

Not before fulfillment is complete.

We had a pretty long meeting about that model, and did some measuring and weighing and crunched a few numbers, in the end we decided that it was practical after all. To be 100% honest, I was the chief voice of dissent, and the math finally silenced me.

Hey Bryan, who / what is Schwarzball the Penguin?

It's an inside joke Ron added to the package to amuse Ed. I have to admit while I've heard the story, I don't really get the joke.

Bryan: Will we see sculpts for the Burrowing Horror (with finished legs), Troll Slayer Sophie, the Water Elemental, the Thank You pack, and the Shadow Demon prior to the Dec 31 purchasing deadline?

It may help some of us to make some difficult decisions.

We certainly hope so - they are all being worked on now, and we expect completion within a few weeks. Art Updates are our favorites anyway, so it;s somethign we want to do also.

Will there ever be an option to buy 'just that one mini' out of a combo pack? I recall there being interest in purchasing big piles of treasure piles from KS1, for example.

Probably not.

Canada: We're pretty sure right now that the we will not be able to do the non-resident import thing - there were some problems we never publicized.

I'm not surprised to hear that, I thought it might become a nightmare. But for, I think, most of us it was the additonal brokerage fee of a courier service that was the pointy nail of it. And I'm not even sure that's about the actual price, so much as it is that the brokerage fee (however legitimate as part of the courier's overall business) reads as an exorbitant surprise.

I am also not surprised that Canada didn't get free shipping this time, re: above.

But USPS doesn't usually come with any surprises, so the end fee for us after shipping will consist of taxes + a (smallish) brokerage fee assigned by Canada Post for processing.

Note that these costs, if you are Canadian and reading this, may vary widely between different Canadian backers - dependent on the tax regime of your province, how this shipment impacts your allowed tax-free import allowance, and a hefty helping of what I can only consider witchcraft in calculating what's due and how much. ALL of that is on our side of the border, so please bear that in mind and don't yell at Reaper if numbers don't add up. I've been trying to make sense of our import system for years and have concluded that it's some eldritch puzzle. So even if you and Joe Schmoe order the exact same thing and live next door to each other, what's due on arrival may vary. I know it doesn't make sense, but there it is.

Also, aside from the processing fee, none of us should owe duties (free trade and all that), just taxes. If you are a GST province, it should be only that. If you are an HST province, it may be that rate instead.

This thread is very interesting in that it is informing me of some of the stuff I missed out on. I have been very busy with work, school, and life... of course! So I wasn't able to follow the KS all that closely outside of the last couple days. I didn't even find out about it until I luckily decided to randomly check KS one night. I had pretty much imposed a self-ban on KS for the time being until my two biggest investments are received (Drake: The Wargame and Itar's Workshop, fyi) and I had stopped spending so much (ha funny compared to how active some people are here) time on the forums. Needless to say I was shocked as all hell that I never received an e-mail about it or anything. I suppose this could be because I only got in on the 1st kickstarter after it ended officially and so I don't get a cool Bones Supporter badge (I mean really... it's so disappointing.... sigh....) and it doesn't show up in my Kickstarter account history. I'm assuming that's how the mailing list was selected...

Anyways. I had no idea that there was some big bad reaction about the nipple. That's freaking crazy. I am one of those people who doesn't mind nudity (as long as there are also kick butt realistically armored models too- like my favorite Trista, The White Wolf or Deenah, Devona, and Janan to call out some other great portrayals of armored women. I am totally cool with the male nudity as well. Frankly, it's embarrassing to think that there was such a response to that model.

I remember when I first noticed the model. It was in the pledge calculator where you can click on an item and a nice big pic of it pops up. I clicked on that and noticed their lack of clothing and "heh, she has a boob showing!" before I moved on, unscarred and fine. I do like the model (both of them actually) and I definitely am having a hard time deciding on 2 or 3 core sets LOL!

Anyways, my apologies for the mass of whiners, complainers, and frankly trolls (not saying anyone complaining is, but I SURE did notice a lot of ridiculously inflammatory behavior on the KS comments).

Now I forgot what I was going to say. Thanks though.

The mailing list should have included you if you backed Bones I, even post-mortem, as it were.

And I have nothing to say further about the negative comments lest I get in trouble.

E-mail kit about the badge, he might still be able to help.

First: Thanks for being awesome! (This goes for Reaper as a whole, the mod, the artists, the sculptors, etc and specifically Bryan for putting up with so much chaos).

Second: Are Bones LTPKs a for sure thing? Will they include KS1 Bones? KS2 Bones? Something else? Any idea on of there will be a lot of repeat paints in them if I already own LTPKs 1-5? Are you sick of answering Bones LTPK questions?

Third: Is there a mini that you would have liked to see in Bones but know that it is not possible for one reason or another (whether physically impossible, low demand, etc)?

Please feel free to not answer any of the above if needed. I don't want to open any cans of worms. I am just curious.

I was the Shadow Demon.

"No Bryan. You are the demons"

And then Bryan was a zombie.

Speaking of the shadow demon though, and translucents in general, do you think you'll make translucent versions of some other existing Bones figures when you start producing in Texas? Like the 77007: Ghost for example, might he get done in green like the other spirits? Or a translucent purple 77108: Shadow Dragon? Is it something that would be difficult to do? Am I asking enough follow-up questions?

Alright not so much a question, but thank you for including mouslings in this kickstarter. Actually thank you for putting together another great deal for your fans, but in particular during bones 1 I know the mice were a frequent request. It was really nice to see them make an appearance this time around.

I was also sorry to see how ugly the comments got toward the end of the kickstarter, do you think the negative feedback will influence the possibility of future kickstarters?

bones LTPK is something we have been planning and want to do right.

I got to choose about had of KS one and about 1/4 of this one. Still, Thorvald. I had to choose him or Ursula, and I went for the female.

nah. We have studied enough Kickstarters to know what to expect. Everybody wants the Core they want, not the one we want.

Have there been any more sizes listed for some of the stuff in expansion 2?

I know we've got a size for the demon lord of minotaurs, but what about some of the other stuff?

I'm most curious about the dracolisk, the frog demon, and the shadow demon and hound. Hopefully big and chunky!

Also wondering- if you guys are going to be able to get Bones up and running as a self sufficient line, any chance those mysterious hidden stretch goals we never reached might turn up? Will we continue to see bits and pieces of scenery and decor show up?

Bryan, thanks for another fun Kickstarter!

Given the fulfillment waves and their projected dates into next year, my wallet is thankful that I'm probably not looking at another Reaper KS in 2014. I know you can't confirm or deny anything with that regard. However, I do have a question.

Assuming the Dragon Don't Share 2 was a hit success with regards to pledges during the KS2, would you foresee Reaper releasing a few more of those type of Bones dioramas in 2014?

I also want to ask about this, Dragon Don't Share II was my favorite thing from this Kickstarter. I really like that it was in multiple parts that fit together. Is there a possibility of other terrain items that would also fit together with the ones from Dragon Don't Share? It would be nice to have some interchangeable ones.
