The last year of Kickstarters has given promised me Fantasy minis, Fairytale minis, non-standard Fantasy minis, SciFi not-WH40k minis, not-Bloodbowl minis, Post-Apoc minis, Weird War II minis, Mars Attacks franchise minis, Superhero minis, Cthulhu minis.

What could possibly come up that ...ooh! Shadows of Brimstone! not-Deadlands minis!

But after that, I'm sure I have everything now.

I think most of the mini companies that expect to have big KSs stop around this time of year, simply because it's harder to get money out of us once the Christmas decorations start going up in the stores. It becomes a battle between needing to buy gifts for others that are due in a 7 weeks or less Vs. pledging on toys for ourselves with delivery dates a year or so out. I'm sure we'll see another rush of them in February after our wallets have time to heal from the Holiday gifts and vacations.

I'm also betting taxes. Small companies don't use the same tax accounting methods that larger ones do (and you'll be surprised how many of them don't consult a tax accountant...). Frex, cash basis accounting is easier than accrual accounting (less record keeping), but treats income received in 2013 (eg. KS funding) as different from expenses in 2014 (eg. the molds, metal, and machines used for the KS). It's easier to just wait to do a KS in one tax year, then spread it out over two. Small businesses also have to deal with "end of year inventory" taxes, so (I think) small businesses want to minimize the amount of inventory they will have at the end of the year, even more of an incentive to do all of a KS in a single tax year. You'll notice that Reaper's last waves all ship out in December, so I'm guessing its to avoid these inventory taxes. MYTH said something about them in a recent update.

All of a sudden we're kickstarter light. This really is wallet recover time

I've finding the current dip in activity to be most welcome and very well timed. I dropped something like 4k on kickstarters this year as it is, and I'm less aggressive then some people...

Hey guys,

Although I am not able to design or produce any sweet minis themselves, I am actually running a Kickstarter for some tools to allow vertical movement in games that use them. These are clear acrylic grids that stand up off the tabletop and let models move freely. I have play tested them in a many different games and they seen to work perfectly! If you are interested please check out Gamer Gridz at: http://kck.st/1h0qfBu.

I perfectly understand if Bones II drained everyones wallet too much to pledge (I know it drained mine and I even split the cost with a fellow gamer!!), but if you like the idea consider sharing it!

Thanks,

Haha, Thanks Suden!

I love the support. If nothing else this Kickstarter has opened my eyes to some great gaming communities online.

Keep being awesome guys!

. MYTH said something about them in a recent update.

Yes they did, and its having a physical impact on the KS. They were ahead of schedule and actually planning on shipping the game to backers late this month, but they discovered that if they had all of the parts shipped to them this year, that it would count towards their 2013 inventory. The difference between that stuff counting towards 2013 instead of 201 was an extra $200,000, so they have to wait to do everything after New Years like they'd originally planned.

Bummer, but I totally understand why they have to do it.

I am currently in only 2 Kickstarters. That's a new low. My wallet hopes this trend continues.

I know the feeling. I am only backing two running kickstarters, and both are small dollar amounts. It's a nice change, I might actually have some spending money for Christmas. One is the $5 promo pack for dungeon roll, and the other is $45 for Gamer Gridz, which might not even make funding.

You guys are all KS addicts! 14? wowies! You're crazy!

I've got four non-fulfilled KSs right now, Bones2, Oathsworn2, Impact! Asian Chibis, and Stonehaven (not) Elves. And that's just way too many all at once for me. The title of this thread made me raise my eyebrow and go "Umm... weren't there too many?"

Crazy heads
