I'm still not thrilled with the premium game business model they seem to be following. I don't doubt the creators integrity, but I do question their business sense and knowledge of the miniatures hobby industry as a whole.

 

I'm wondering if, down the road, they will continue with two tiers of model quality. Seems to me that would increase production and operating costs quite a bit, and yet they'd pretty much have to or run the risk of losing customers. Its like they've painted themselves into a bit of a corner.

Kingdom Death uses this model. They use the high quality Resins to drum up interest and generate production capital for the plastics.

Because in wargaming that's not unusual and hasn't been for a while. 50mm is the size of it's base, not the size of the figure. Both Heavy Warjacks from Warmachine and the Hive Tyrant from 40K are in the same size range and around £30 for plastic. I'm not saying it isn't expensive but it does compare to the existing market.

 

AVP Wargame Rulebook - wha, doesn't this come with the game?

 

It comes with the physical rulebook for the boardgame and the PDF for the wargame. They said from the beginning there would be a stretch goal later on for the physical wargame rulebook.

Based on what I've been reading/watching....

 

The high cost of the models is being driven by licensing fees and cost of materials. Take a look at the cost vs amount of resin being used. When I asked about customizability for the preds they pretty much told me to do what we do with our bones: boil, repose, ice bath. That answer is good for bones but not good for predators, damit.

 

In any event the whole project is being backed by Fox. That's HUGE. I'll never be playing apocalypse with these so I'm not worried about trying to accumulate mega gobs of them. I'm just gonna be patient and pick up the stuff I like and ignore the stuff I dont.
