Alien VS Predator Miniatures Games

I think it's a bad move to remove the KS page because now backers can't reference anything (or contact Prodos without going to their site), this means everything will become more hazy over time and people will feel cheated as they can't reference the written material that they pledged on.  In short the backers will become more crazy, paranoid and email them more often.

And, I know they are trying to FORCE people to go to their site and check out their stuff, but this is the wrong way to go about it.  It should be natural progression after AvP releases that people migrate over to Prodos, not be forced.

I wonder if Kickstarter needs to make a change to how the front page* of a project gets locked down once the funding period is complete. Not so that it can be removed but put aside as such in archived page and allow the front page to be updated with the current positon. Looking over quite a few miniature projects there are several where once completed the front page isn't much help anymore, especially when dealing with concept art or unapproved designs. For example Rise of the Kage is forever stuck with one of their characters on the front page being a text box, whilst the actual completed design is tucked away in the updates, one of the Relic Knights units shown on the front is at least two complete overhauls off from the finished style. Cthulhu Wars show stretch goals as still locked when they've been passed etc etc etc

That was the issue Fox had here, the unapproved prototype figures and box design were locked front and centre, whilst the approved designs and text were off the front page scattered through updates (and if you've followed any projects where finalised miniature designs have changed from concept this is clearly a major issue for a lot of people).

I don't think projects should just be able to get rid of or even modify the front page, but I think moving it to a separate page and having a post-funding front page would benefit a lot of projects.

I would agree, an archived screenshot as it is now for reference, and an update-able front page.

It'd also be great if they had the following stats:

Project Status [text] (filled in by campaigner)

Fulfilled X% (campaigner has checked off as sent)

Disputed X% (essentially the campaigner is saying tis fulfilled, backer is saying tis not)

I think these would be helpful.

They've explained why it's down and why they are keeping it down.

That doesn't mean, however, that it's a legitimate argument, let alone one that Kickstarter should let slide. If there is no IP dispute, it's a blatant violation of the (supposed) "Projects must be honest and clearly presented" rule, after all. Too bad people can't actually report them for it for lack of a project page, right?

With how quickly the AvP miniatures on Indiegogo got killed by Fox, I think it's safe to say that the Prodos have everything in regards to copyright in order.

The KS page seems to be evidence to the contrary.

They've explained why it's down and why they are keeping it down. The indiegogo project didn't even last several hours. If you honestly believe that 20th Century Fox's lawyers would ignore a project using one of their IP's without approval  for several months you really underestimate how big companies work.

That post you are quoting is referencing only that the down KS page seems to be evidence to the contrary that Prodos have everything in regards to copyright in order. If you want to include my previous post when I was still thinking this WAS the Indiedudu campaign in the discussion, don't neglect to quote that.

There are MANY ways a deal with a big company can go wrong; Time could have run out, Prodos could have used imagery the contract didn't cover, They could have a licence that doesn't cover worldwide distribution, Prodoss could have even fallen victim to a contract trap and now in a legal noose with undeliverable goods.

The Indiegogo AVP project was open for weeks and not closed after some hours, it happend not much on the page, but it was open.

But this project is not important.

It is only interesting the at the IP KS message and the gone media on FB happened at the same time.

There is no reason mentionend why they do not open it again. It makes no sense at all.

"Update" Today:

Happy New Year!

It's 2015, it's January and we are raring to go with the new year. We've got big plans as a company, so you can expect to see all of our product lines grow and see a host of exciting events we will be attending and running!

However, you're all here for AvP, so we wanted to update you with where we are.

Our final stage for approval is pending with a master document of all the materials that will come in the main boxed set combined. The printed book did not meet the requirements, so we are currently reworking the fiction and background in order to meet the requirements that have been stated.

With that in mind, we are starting to order in the large packing boxes, rolls of packing tape and part-time staff to get your orders packed up and shipped out. It is very soon indeed and, though we cannot express an exact date, we hope that you realise just how soon this should be.

Once again, many thanks for your patience.

I like how they sign with their company name now instead of personally.  I heartily respect good professionalism.

I am going to go back out on my limb with this and wave that optimism banner like a crazy person.  Super excited!

40:30 in there's a bit about AvP and licensing issues in general. Nothing really new, Fox changes rules as they've gone along and decided they don't want anything that isn't a finished production model to be shown (hence everything disappearing and Prodos are very restricted on what they can say), which if you think sounds mad the bit about Paramount and the Terminator game livesteam will hurt your brain.
