The plan is for there to be many xenomorph expansions: Warriors (Aliens), Stalkers (similar to the Runner from A3 and Stalkers from the AvP quarter-muncher), and Infants (Alien).

IIRC, those should all be in sets of five.

The Crusher (Colonial Marines), Queen (Aliens), Predalien (Requiem), and Royal Guard (not sure of the release) are all planned as singles.

Similar to the way that the Star Wars Imperial Assault game has been releasing minis then.

I can only hope the AvP releases are less expensive.

They seem to me to be incredibly expensive.

I hadn't thought about that.  Of course, I keep forgetting that AvP is a board game as well.  I keep thinking of it in terms of a tabletop game even though those rules aren't done yet.

Not terribly.  Five resin minis for $25 is still pretty good.

I mean, it's not cheap, but you're also paying for the license.  The bigger critters are less wallet-friendly, but you'll probably only need one or two (unless you're like me and just need moar).

As I understand it this was announced early on to be part of the plan (Not having been a backer, I am unsure) and that legal/contract reasons required them to make it available to retail before fulfilling backer requests. Note that I do not necessarily like this clause of the contract, and I probably would not have bought it if I had realized it was the same game as this thread's KS project at the time. Normally I would not support such a decision with my dollars, but I didn't know it was the same game until today.

Please think of it this way: the more retail sales manage to go out, the more rewards Prodos can afford to ship.

I just hope Prodos learned their lessons well when it comes to dealing with a megacorp and their IP.

I honestly do not recall them saying that retail would get stuff prior to backers but I guess its possible... I thought some folks were getting their backer rewards many months ago (like last Sept?)

I probably just need to write this off as a total loss mentally and if eventually something shows up on my doorstep then be happy. Pretty sure my kickstarter days are ended - just too many I have supported have failed to deliver, have only partially delivered or are massively overdue with terrible communication.... (Drake, AvP, Robotech, KD....)

I saw a queen at retail for 65 Canadian

That seems excessive, but maybe I've misremembered how the big critters were to be priced.

EDIT: I've double-checked Prodos' page and the conversion rate of Canadian dollars to pounds.  The Queen retails for £35, and the Canadian dollar goes 2:1 against the pound.  So 65 isn't bad--relatively speaking.

I honestly believe that Prodos had the best of intents when it came to this sort of thing, but delays, the peculiarities of European consumer law, and an involved IP holder simply were more than they originally anticipated.

Some backers have received all or part of their pledges--I have received my first base game, but many backers are still waiting for even that.  I'll admit that this KS has soured me pretty thoroughly on the process.

For my part, I do understand the delay= money drain and even the long delay = money runs out so we need to sell retail to raise funds to fulfill the KS part of the equation.  This would not have been a problem if only they had moved things along. This game has been at retail for best part of a year (or is it more?), with several waves of releases in support. Still I have not seen nor heard anything from them about my pledge. whilst others have recieved both wave 1 and 2.

Now I suspect that as I live in "RoW" there is a higher level of red tape crap they have to deal with to ship to me, and of course higher shipping costs. But FFS! Are they really waiting to send a single shipment with everything because of this?

The retail pre-orders for Alien Eggs, Cloaked Predators and the Marine Sergeant  went up today. The Alien Queen was $45 and the place I go to has sold out of the Alien Warrior 5 pack (which seemed the best purchase price among all the add-on figures). It seems like a number of companies have downgraded their boxes to the point that they are easily damaged. I have seen this in "The Great War", "Terminator" , "Mars Attacks" and now the "AvP" box (which is very heavy, and surprisingly flat and long like an old "Monopoly" game.

I figure this bit is news-worthy.

Prodos' recent "update" has the usual bits--shipping delays, shipping costs have skyrocketed (+35%), etc.  They are moving shipping from UPS to USPS and regional post offices for Canada and Australia.

Also of note: Prodos have given us the OPTION of making up the cost of shipping by purchasing something in the shop and then doing something else (checking an option in the cart or selecting a specific shipping option...something along those lines).  This is supposed to advance the order in the queue and get the KS backers that CHOOSE to do this taken care of in a few days.

In traditional form, this option has greatly upset many of the KS backers who have once again set about wailing and gnashing their teeth.  I agree there's plenty to be upset about, but going through this every time there is an "update" is tiresome.

I'm still trying to decide if I want to do this.  I'm already in for a pretty absurd amount.  Will a little (comparatively speaking) more make a difference?  Am I better off just waiting until everything is done?

*sigh*  I'll probably just wait.
