I always liked the Fimir as they at least looked different from all the other usual fantasy creatures. I've been reading about them this morning:

However the Meargh (witch and only female Fimir) is sterile and therefore unable to breed. So as to replenish their numbers the Fimir kidnap young fertile human women to use as breeding stock.

erm.... yeah... that's err...... I'm going to be polite and say very very.... very old school fantasy stuff.

Old school mythology too - both dwarfs and elves used to rely on that method as well, back in the day.

Trolls were sneakier - the males used to disguise their tails and horns and then marry human women. (Then maybe eat them.)

Don't know what they did about the missing fingers though.

The Auld Grump - there were elves, dwarfs, trolls, and etc. long before Tolkien.... And none of them were very nice people.

I'm tentatively interested in this....I have so many dungeon crawls...I don't know that I'd ever go back to old Heroquest other than for nostalgia.... That being said, I'm also a sucker for dungeon crawls. If the rules or minis are compelling enough, I might invest.

hmmm... This is a game that I have seem but never tried. It was popular during my university years when I wasn't playing these types of games.

For people who have played it - is it a solid game or more of a nostalgia aspect for people? I like dungeon crawl games like Warhammer Quest, Descent and Legions of Steel.

Thanks for the input :;):

I haven't played the old Heroquest- but I've heard that this is only going to be Heroquest in name- that they didn't get the rights to use the old rules set.

I don't see how that makes any sense, though. It is possible that I was meant to understand that they couldn't use the Warhammer specific races, and so had to create generic versions of them. That would make more sense.

I expect the kickstarter to be pretty huge.

Its been a really long time since I played it.....I have two rather shoddy copies....They sit rather lonely and instead I play Descent, Descent 2, Wrath of Ashardalon etc...... And soon to play Myth, Shadows of Brimstone, Journey, Kingdom Death...

I just remember it being very simple. It is one of the early grand daddies of dungeon crawler board games and was published by MB in the US, so it saw a lot of mainstream purchases.

Really, only one board? Ok, it is double-sided, but after Descent I would have thought of a more variable dungeon tiles.

I'm not a fan of resin for games.

In the moment I don not think I'm interested. I hope soon to see the Kickstarter for more information.
