Honestly, I think that's the best Hell Hound I've seen so far. I've liked some of the others I've seen, but there was always something off about the flames to me. I think you nailed it. The musculature looks great as well.

I also love the base, but I think you need to have more black patches that are not beneath the hell hound, or do more "lava" beneath it - or maybe both. Right now it looks very deliberate - a bit more "randomness" and it will look more organic.

Excellent! I could see more black patches as well. I like this one but I would/might do a variant where from the lava up to say the kneecaps is a gradient from laval to flesh. The paws and ankles being lava schemed, possibly the same on the face. Well I guess I have something to try out now.

Great job on this figure!

A piece of advice though is to find a different background that doesn't reflect the light like that. I'd recommend a simple textured cloth of neutral color such as light grey or tan. I bought a few pieces of 11x17 from Hobby Lobby and I think they are like $.50 each or something like that.

I was very afraid to make a freak paint job on this one, I had an idea to make the lava light reflect on the belly of the beast, but when I achieve the color I wanted in the mini, I just couldn´t risk to do anything else on it. But it is a great idea, and I hope to see it on yours.

Good advice, I tried to stay focused on the smooth areas to do the black, but it appears only in beneath of the hound. Next time I will definitely be more attentive to that.

Thanks, I used to do it with a white paper sheet, but always appears some stripes on it (my camera is my phone), so I tried with a magazine´s back cover.

Your cloth idea is great, I will try to find one (other than old t-shirt) in the weekend.
