A Christmas Present and a few other goodies...

Recommended Posts

I've been quite around the web for a while, but I have been painting. The first miniature I finished was a Christmas present for my mom. It's Garrity's "Angel of Light" painted in a breast cancer awareness theme for my mom :)

Next is a speed paint for my PC in a module my group is currently playing. She's a gnome pyrokinetic :) and Cassie, gnome Wizard is perfect for her. The figure itself was a little rough around the edges in regards to the mold, but I like her nonetheless. She took about 3-4 hours.

The next one is a "traditional" bard that is based off a Shakespearean theme I found on colourlovers :) He was a speed paint as well.

Finally, the next one is a 54 mm miniature I picked up at the last con I was at. She's from Phoenix Miniatures :) I painted her up to be "Jane Austen-ish" for a dear friend of mine, for Christmas (she and I are both avid fanatics!). I went with a simple color scheme and based her with cobblestone plasticard amongst a colorful flower garden. I gave her the figure today and she loved it :) I'm just glad she liked it!!

Enjoy! C&C welcome and appreciated <3 Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, everyone!

great work. I am sure the angel will be well received.

Thanks! Yes, she LOVES it! She saw it before I could wrap it so she just got it early :)

The freehand fire on Cassie looks really good! I'm very impressed! The eyes on all your minis look really clean and sharp, too. I'm glad to see you've caught the painting bug, again.

I feel that there’s little reason to deny that the primarch miniatures that Forge World has released are some of the best minis ever sculpted for Games Workshop.
Unfortunately, I lost the pictures we took of the first primarch I had the opportunity to paint, but I got good pictures of this one.
This is Sanguinius, one of the most powerful and loyal of primarch, despite his rather obvious mutation.

Sometimes when I imagine the mechanics of monster summoning, it's kind of like Uber or Lyft. You select a particular summoning option, and someone picks up the call without really knowing what the mission will be.

Anyway, we needed an angel. Our prayers were answered, but apparently this one was on the way to the Celestial Daycare, or maybe had just completed another summoning gig involving orphans when she showed up for this gig.  I can imagine any number of ways this could have gone.

But in any case, this one arrived with a baby, and without a nose. She fight off our enemies with only one hand and without any olfactory senses.  It was truly impressive!

      Howdy,

Inspiration came from the Reaper Quarterly Contest...

SonOfCheese mentioned offhand that I would have to be "insane" to try to blend Cyan to Yellow, so I took this as a challenge.  :-)  Being Celestial and all, the Solar (IMHO) should have brightly colored wings.

I dithered on what to do with his sword. I wasn't too keen on the sword being just a sword, so I ventured into a little bit of OSL with it.  Suggestions/comments/criticism appreciated if you have it, as this is uncertain territory for me :-D

I did not want his MeatClaws(tm) to glow, because that would damage the delicate flavor of any celestial barbecue he chose to make with them.

I printed this model in resin at 0.05mm layer height. The figure is nude, so pics are provided via link.

I generally prefer projects that feature the monstrous, but I decided to change things up and paint this beauty. Enjoy.
