Nocturne
That pricing is mind boggling for two reasons then!
LizardMage
Yeah, GW may have lost their minds on that pricing for a swarm army, For the Termagaunts and Hormagaunts, it is actually a price cut. The old set is still up on the website: 12 figures for $29 (or $2.42 per). The new set is $44 for 20 figures (or $2.20 per). So not a huge price cut, but still around $4.40 for the same number of figures (20), plus it seems like they come with more options. One can argue this is still too high, but it has become cheaper in this one aspect (I don't collect Tyrranids, so I don't really have a dog in this fight)... Damon. Interesting, I hadn't noticed that part. I'm not so sure if it is really more parts though, the old boxes for "gaunts" had the parts to make either of the two versions. Still though, it is nice to see a price cut even if it is small.
Lars Porsenna
If you're really dead set against price, looks like GW is still offering their push-fit Termagaunts at $10 for 5 models (so $2 per), that is if you are OK with a monopose force (I generally would not be...this is the 21st Century after all...) Damon.
LizardMage
I'm against the price mainly because they are asking way to much for what you get. Look at the rule books alone, $50 for a hard copy and $50 for the soft copy. The price of the core rulebook for Pathfinder is $50 hard and $9 soft and the core rulebook is considerably larger than a codex. Their pricing just doesn't make sense to me to stay competitive in the current enviroment where customers are looking for more bag for their buck. Arbiter10
Arbiter, grab Defiance: Evolution of Arms as well. It adds better options for hand-to-hand, fancy grenades / template effects, and if you want, re-costs everything for cluttered or cityscape terrain, which is what 40K is best at. Whoops, just saw this post today. Thanks for the response, and for the tip about the expansion book.
Girot
Went into the FLGS to buy dice.... and walked out with the new codex & psychic power cards, a Harpy, and a box of warriors. EDIT: but I did get the dice! Edited January 11, 2014 by Girot
LizardMage
Question Girot, are you using the Hive Tyrant as a base for an Alien Queen?
Girot
I have a 3rd edition metal Tyrant set aside for her, yes. Using Warriors and Praetorians too.
LizardMage
Warriors will be easy converts to xenos. Hive Guard for the Praetorians?
Girot
My bad, I meant to say that I'm using Warriors as Praetorians. They are the right size for it, when compared to Hasslefree's "Sci-Fi Troopers". I just need to flesh out their cranial frill a bit. I'm use the AVP Arcade Game as my point of refernce for unit types and color schemes so there will be a bunch of different stuff. Razor Claws is going to be loads of fun!!
LizardMage
Have you considered a model for the Hunter Predator yet? Always played him.
Girot
Cobblestone Castings makes two different versions of "Hunter Aliens". I plan to paint up all five of them.
Nanite
Ooof. GW relased their half-year report. Earnings way down, profit way down, and their stock just tanked. We may not have them to kick around much longer.

We may not have them to kick around much longer. That's unlikely to actually cause them to go out of business anytime soon...unfortunately
LizardMage
Depends on what the trends show on this. Still though, my preference is that they wake up and bring their prices to a reasonable level. I'm very much not interested in several folks losing their jobs because the overall company kept shooting themselves in the foot.
