Duke Gerard

Recommended Posts

I've been fascinated with NMM since I first saw it. How does one make regular colors look like metal?! I've delved into NMM every once in awhile, but never with what I consider great NMM. This is no exception for me, but it's getting a wee bit closer. :)

Duke Gerard here is from the first Bones KS and my 4-5th try at NMM. C&C not needed (I know what needs work and I'm working on those areas on other models), this is mostly for the new painters and for painters struggling with NMM. Cause even I'm still doing so and I've been painting for over 13 years now.

So enjoy and take what you will from this post! :D

I for one think you did a SPLENDID job with the non metallic metals..nice polished steel effect. I like your painting style & the color choices are OUTSTANDING. GREAT WORK!

You've got a really fun style! I love the contrast on the face especially. Great colors! I think the NMM looks very believable.

      So I finished this miniature. Video will be uploaded once I edit it.

      This isn't finished yet but I wanted to go ahead and get the post up on here. This is the Crimson Herald, a Reaper Bones Black figure.

      I didn't have a color scheme going into this big bad boy.  Sadly the photos REALLY don't do it justice and I do have a video I am getting ready to post to youtube.

      This whole thing was like a Bob Ross Saved it moment for me. I grabbed paint throwing all caution to the wind and was like "ITTTTSSSSS FIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNEEEEEE" {its fine}
      Spoiler. It wasn't fine.

      So I painted the body With Citadel Hex Wraith Flame. The entire time after i was just like "oh god... what have i done! its a lime green wraith thing...."

      Luckily I had a bottle of Citadel Technical paint "Soulstone Blue" which weirdly enough I realized "i used technical paint... which doesn't dry normally very thick... and my solution is to use MORE paint that doesn't dry thick to make a thick paint? am i mad?!" Answer yes, but the photographs show im not without some merit to my madness.

      I’m working on trying to get this big guy painted to tabletop standard by the time I have to use him at our next Pathfinder D&D session to represent the Roc King on Tilagos Island in the Demiplane of Last Resort, in the Age of Worms adventure path.

      Painted up these 8 unrelated barbarians as a clan for my Wrath of the Righteous campaign. Tried my hand at non-metallic metal again. This is the result. :)
