New England Paint Day

Recommended Posts

Bonus!  DM's son is starting his Eagle project, so we are rescheduling Sunday's D&D.  I didn't even have to grovel.

I should be there, barring horrific events.

Now to decide what I want to work on…and to see if I can remember where my portable kit is stashed.

Excellent it will be good to see you again.  And just to keep lazy people from having to go back a page (ok ok, really it's for me), here is the info again.

Just got home from swinging by Pat's.  Looks like we are good for the 1st.  I also found out that my memory was faulty and he opens at 11am on Sat. So....

New England Paint Paint Paint Day: February 1st

Location: Citadel Game Cellar, 565 Long Hill Road, Groton CT

Hours: 11am-5pm

Mad Jack

Chaos Wolf

Arrd Rinn

Divish

klarg1

Qwiksilver (depending on groveling ability)

Let's try and answer some of the questions:

1. I will have my paints there.  However I don't have all paints.  I've got bith sets of the HD paints and about 70 MSPs.  I have a good selection of colors (I'm a bit light on purples and pinks and oranges)  I wasn't planning on bringing my ProPaints but can if someone needs a color.  If you don't want to bring all your paints but are worried about having a particular color, ask and I'll let you know if I have it. (this may change;see point 3.)

2. Electrical:  There are outlets available.  I'll be bringing a power strip and a lamp or two.  There is ok overhead lighting over the tables.  Plenty of table space and chairs available

3.  While I was there, Pat mentioned that he still had to follow up on ordering a paint line to stock.  I used the Force for personal gain, pulled a Jedi mind trick, and while I was standing go Pat to order the MSP line.  When I left, is distributor was contacting Reaper.  So there is a chance that we will be able to buy MSP by the time the paint day rolls around.  I foresee many more impulse purchaces on my part.

4.  Shopping:  As MadJack stated above, Pat carries all kinds of older stuff, minis, RPG and board games. Some shelves are like time capsules.  He does not carry everything.  I found out today that he offers a 10% discount special orders.  So if there is anything odd that you were looking for, he may be abl to get it for you by then.  Just sayin'.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there.  Any questions, just feel free to ask.

Additionally we may have some newbie painters showing up.  Seem like a couple of guys I was stationed in Norfolk with are up here now and may be forming a nucleus of a gaminging group.  I've invited them to try the dark side of mini painting and it appears likely they will attend.  More converts!  Now where did I put that "special" kool-aid?

So you are going to volunteer to help with the Eagle Project right?!

Just spotted this thread.  I'm in the target demographic for this, but not sure if I can make it.  We're not into motorcycle weather yet, though I could theoretically hitch a ride with klarg or Quiksilver (maybe others... not sure where they live).  The first is also scheduled for PFRPG, but I'll do a double-check to see if we're still on.

Depending on where exactly in Mass you are and how hard it is to get to South Station Amtrak stops in New London about a 10-15 minute drive from the store. One of us locals could possibly shuttle you depending on the train schedule.

I can give you a ride. Let me know if you think you can attend.

when he has his times set, I would be surprised if Qwyk didn't volunteer for my Sweet Wm's (his DM's son) project

Cool, more people! We should all get name tags or something, so we can ID each other. Also, what's this about kool-aid?

Well, we could paint our names on our foreheads.  And as for th Kool-Aid, well Pat used to allow adult beverages in his store but as usual it only took one guy to ruin it for the rest of us.  He does have sodas available for a nominal fee, and D'Angelos is right next door so drinks and food are available.

Also I posted the Paint Day to the store FB page so we may see more new faces.  If we have enough locals we can turn this ino a semi-regular event.  Or if there are just a few local, we can have future events at my place where adult beverages are allowed (assuming yo are of age of course).  Either way I'm looking forward to having a good time.

So, what's everyone going to bring to work on?

I honestly have no idea ATM, I'm hoping for inspiration to strike....

ETA: not mini related, but inspiration just struck---someone (or multiple someone's) should make sure to bring a camera to get some piccies of the event.
