New England Paint Day

Recommended Posts

OK the March 1st have it.  Let's plan on that. Who ever makes it into the Citadel first check the date with Pat.

Aard, are the others from your school going to make it, or will you need transport again?  If so then it should be no problem.

Thanks for organizing, Connecticut folks. I had a great time, and als managed to get in some actual painting time!

I can't predict when I will be able to make it down to the citadel for another session, but I'd love to try.

I'll ask around tomorrow at club. Hopefully they will, but even if I can get people interested it would probably have to be for April - coordinating vans is always a woof - so a ride for next month would definitely be appreciated... :D

Thanks, Chaos! There's some other angles over in my show-off thread, too! This was loads of fun to paint - now I just need to finish the little rider dude...

Well, gentlemen (and lady), it's been confirmed - I just spoke to Pat, and he's good with March 1st...

We probably won't be able to hang around after closing (6pm) as long as the last time, but we're good to go.

Also, Pat got his MSPs in, and has everything including the sealer, primer, flow improver and drying retarder.

Hehe, I picked up the brown and black washes when I talked to Pat. I probably would have gone all locust swarm on the paint rack myself, but I already have most of them.

This sounds like a lot of fun, but 2 hours (plus the inevitable traffic) is a long haul.  Is there interest in doing something similar further north, in the Boston metro area? I'm new to painting and the Boston area so I'd love to meet and see how other people paint. As for a location, I haven't been to many game shops yet.  There is a place that does lots of miniatures in Malden (5 mi north of Boston, Hobby Bunker) but they haven't been real outgoing the few times I've been in there.

I've got no problem with a little bit of a drive to paint in another location; or carpooling with other to get there.  If you (or another local) can find a place to host, and my schedule supports I'm game.  I know we have painted somewhere in the Worchester area before.

Hey, just out of curiosity - what is the price on the paints? I'm trying to pull together a list of them to buy - does he have pretty much everything, or just a bit?

Also, can any of you reccommend me some good greens? I only have Christmas Wreathe, so I could use a few more, I think. The green I wound up buying last time turned out to be an ink(?), so... not sure what I'm gonna do with that...

Actually, I found traffic to be pretty light last time, even driving straight through the center of Providence. Even so, it is a bit of a drive.

I play games at the Hobby Bunker once in a while. It's an OK space for the job, but scheduling events can be tricky. On the up side, it is T-accessible, and parking is pretty easy on the weekends.

I ran one painting event at Pandemonium Books, in Cambridge, last year, and I might try to set up another, but scheduling there is next to impossible. If I get it set up, I will announce it here, but no promises.

I think MSRP is $3.29.

I like the "Brilliant Greens" triad, but I like to have all the paints. ::):

Something a little different for a WIP. I’m building spinner racks for my paints and tools. There will be a 6” and 5” diameters that will hold 8 paints per level. The Tool  spinner will have a single level with 1/2” holes and hold 16  tools,  paints will get separate spinners for my Oilbrushers ( one level 3/4” hole, 8 brushes), dropper bottles will get three levels with 1” holes (8 paints per level) and the 6” spinner will be for the big bottles ( 1 3/8” inch holes, 8 per level) with three levels.

Hopefully this will help my chaotic workspace stay a bit more organized.

this is the 6” spinner with the holes drilled, except the center, and ready for the bandsaw.

Does anyone know what the closest match to dirty grey is out of the currently available paints? I'm kind of on my last little bit of it, and I used it on a bunch of stuff that I'll likely need to get close to matching in the future.

So my niece is turning 13 next month. She already has a huge interest in minis and loves to paint with me. I'm trying to build her a kit or care package for her birthday so we can video chat and paint together. I'm at a loss as to what to put in it though. She has a ton of minis I gave her and a few brushes but I want to get her like a full starters kit of sorts (paint, better brushes, brush soap, etc.). I'm already considering the first LTPK. What would you put in it for someone just starting out?

Hi!! my name is Katerina and I'm new to painting miniatures, I begun
with a miniature from NonSenseminiatures, the Barbarian, I buyed the
54mm because it's bigger and maybe easier to paint.
I asked some help to NonSense and he already made a base coat for me, I
would like to get some help for painting because I see too much
information and don't know were begin.
I already make painting but totally different
Also he gave for me a discount code Katerina10%, because he will sell my
      paints also!!!
